Could you please for my betrayal friend and my family who are suffering strong torment with their tongue [Proverbs 21:23] Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.

James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.

We hear the deep pain and turmoil in your heart as you describe the torment caused by the tongues of others—those who spread chaos, confusion, and destruction through their words. The Scriptures you’ve shared, Proverbs 21:23 and James 3, reveal a sobering truth: the tongue, though small, holds immense power to build up or tear down, to heal or to harm. The enemy delights in using words as weapons to sow discord, damage reputations, and hinder the progress of God’s people. But we stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ, declaring that this cycle of toxicity must end.

First, we must address the spiritual warfare at play here. The enemy thrives in environments of gossip, slander, and deception, for these things grieve the Holy Spirit and fracture the unity of believers. Ephesians 4:29-31 warns, *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice."* The tongues of those causing harm are not operating in alignment with God’s will, and we must rebuke the spirit of division and strife in Jesus’ name.

We also recognize the pain of betrayal—when someone you trusted turns against you with their words. Psalm 41:9 says, *"Yes, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who ate bread with me, has lifted up his heel against me."* Betrayal cuts deeply, but we take comfort in knowing that Jesus Himself experienced this same pain. He was betrayed by one of His own disciples, yet He responded with grace and entrusted Himself to the Father. We must do the same. Vengeance belongs to the Lord (Romans 12:19), and He will repay those who misuse their tongues to harm others.

The spread of false information, mockery, and malicious gossip—especially through social media—is a modern-day manifestation of the evil James describes. The tongue, unchecked, becomes a wildfire, consuming everything in its path. But we declare that the fire of God’s truth will extinguish every lie. Proverbs 16:28 says, *"A perverse man stirs up strife, and a whisperer separates close friends."* We must guard our hearts and refuse to participate in or entertain such conversations. Instead, we choose to speak life, truth, and encouragement, even in the face of opposition.

We also address the mention of "fake prophecy" and "wrong prayer." Scripture is clear that false prophets and teachers will arise, seeking to lead God’s people astray (Matthew 24:11). We must test every word against the truth of God’s Word and reject anything that does not align with Scripture. 1 John 4:1 warns, *"Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."* If these false words are being spoken in the name of Jesus, we must expose them for what they are—deception from the enemy. Jesus Himself warned, *"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves"* (Matthew 7:15).

Now, we lift this situation to the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, the only Name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You. Lord, we stand on the truth of Your Word, which declares that no weapon formed against Your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We rebuke the spirit of strife, gossip, slander, and deception that has been unleashed against this family and this friend. We declare that the tongues of those who have spoken lies and caused harm will be silenced, and their words will not take root. Let every false word spoken against them return void, and let the truth of Your Word prevail.

Father, we ask for healing for the wounds caused by betrayal and the pain of being misrepresented. Pour Your balm of Gilead over their hearts, Lord, and restore what has been broken. Help them to forgive those who have wronged them, just as You have forgiven us. Teach them to guard their own tongues, that their words may be seasoned with grace and used for building up, not tearing down.

We pray for those who have been used as instruments of the enemy in this situation. Soften their hearts, Lord, and open their eyes to the destruction their words have caused. Convict them of their sin, and lead them to repentance. Let them see the power of their words and choose to speak life instead of death.

We also pray for protection over this family and this friend. Surround them with Your angels, Lord, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Give them wisdom in how to respond—or not respond—to the lies and slander being spread. Let them walk in the peace that surpasses all understanding, knowing that You are their defender and their shield.

Father, we ask that You would expose every lie and bring the truth to light. Let the fire of Your Holy Spirit consume every false word, every fake prophecy, and every malicious rumor. Replace the chaos with Your order, the confusion with Your clarity, and the discord with Your peace.

We declare that this family and this friend will not be defined by the words of others but by the truth of who You say they are. They are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Let them rise above the noise of the enemy and walk in the fullness of Your calling for their lives.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this situation for Your glory. Turn this trial into a testimony, and let the light of Your truth shine brightly in the darkness. May those who have been hurt find strength in You, and may those who have caused harm encounter Your transforming love.

We pray all of this in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Amen.

In the midst of this storm, remember that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are not alone, and the battle is not yours—it is the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). Stand firm in your faith, guard your heart, and trust that God will bring justice and restoration in His perfect timing. Walk in love, speak the truth, and let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. The enemy may have intended this for harm, but God will use it for good (Genesis 50:20). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and do not grow weary in doing good. Your reward is coming.

Dear friend, we're here with you, holding you up in prayer. We've been reflecting on the words of Proverbs 18:21, "The tongue can bring death or life." The tongue, though small, holds immense power. It can heal or harm, build up or tear down. We see the pain caused by the harmful words of others, and we're sorry you're going through this.

We've been reminded of the story of Joseph (Genesis 50:20). His brothers meant harm, but God used it for good. We don't know why this is happening, but we trust that God can bring good out of it too. We're praying that God would turn this trial into a testimony, that He would bring healing to your heart, and that He would use this situation to draw you and others closer to Him.

We're also reminded of Ephesians 4:29-31. Let's strive to speak only what's helpful for building others up, according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Let's avoid all bitterness, rage and malice, along with slander and gossip. Instead, let's be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave us.

Let's stand together in faith, trusting that God is in control. He sees your pain, and He cares. He's walking with you through this. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and let's keep speaking life, not death, to those around us.

We're praying for you, dear friend. We're here for you. Let's keep lifting this up to the Lord together. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
