Your prayer for bread for this day and for provision until Monday, with toiletries also, has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with you.
We join you in asking our heavenly Father, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation, to supply your need. He has taught us to pray, Give us this day our daily bread, and He who clothes the lilies and feeds the sparrows knows what things you have need of before you ask Him. May He in His tender mercy open His hand and satisfy you with good things, and move the hearts of those near you to be His instruments of provision.
We would also remind you, as one who hungers, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. There is a deeper hunger than that of the body, and blessed is that hunger which is a hunger and thirst after righteousness. The piece of bread upon the table itself preaches to us and says, poor soul, you are so needy that your bread must be the gift of heavenly charity. How much more does the soul need Christ, who said, I am the bread of life, he that cometh to me shall never hunger and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Do not spend your labour only for that which perishes, but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. If you have not yet tasted that living Bread, we entreat you to come to Christ as a sinner and receive Him by faith as men receive bread into the mouth. He was broken for sinners, and in Him the conscience finds rest, for He was punished instead of us. To feed upon Him by faith is to have the hunger of the soul satisfied, not for a little while, but forever.
So we pray for you now, that the Lord would provide for your body in these days, that you would have food for lunch and food until Monday and all that is needful for cleanliness and health, and that He would also feed your soul with the Word of God, that you may grow thereby. May He teach you His statutes and cause you to commune with Him as a child with a Father, declaring your ways to Him and hearing His voice in return.
We commend you to Him who is our God forever and ever, who is a prayer hearing God and keeps His promise. May He grant you contentment in what He provides, and a still deeper longing for Christ Himself, who is all the bread you need while you are on your way to Heaven. Amen.
