Beloved of All
Your honest cry has been heard and I am praying for you as the Holy Spirit leads for peace in your mind and heart.
Feeling persecuted at home by those you try to love, feeling targeted at work when you are simply trying to do your job well, feeling invisible at a new church, and feeling abandoned and isolated by family and friends would leave anyone exhausted and discouraged. When even your daily responsibilities with your pets feel overwhelming and finances are tight, it is understandable that you would ask what you have to live for and why you are here, and that you would feel as though God has left you while others seem to triumph over you.
Scripture shows that hopelessness often comes when we keep our eyes only on the circumstances around us. The prophet who wrote Lamentations knew that place well. He described himself as seeing affliction, feeling hedged in with no way out, even feeling that God was not hearing him. He said his strength and hope had perished. Yet in the middle of that despair he made a deliberate turn in his thinking. He said, this I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness. Hope returned not because his situation immediately changed, but because he set his mind again on who God is. You can think yourself into despair by rehearsing every hurt and rejection, but by renewing your mind in the Lord and remembering his faithful, compassionate character, you can come into a different place of hope and perspective. If God is for us, who can be against us.
The Bible also shows that seasons of pressure and rejection do not have to destroy faith. In the early church, believers faced heavy persecution. Some were scattered from Jerusalem throughout Judea and Samaria, and one group in Thessalonica faced such intense opposition that they wondered if they had been abandoned. Yet God did not waste that pain. For true believers that pressure separated what was real from what was shallow, it caused faith to grow exceedingly and love toward one another to abound, and it bound them closer together and closer to Christ. God even used the scattering to spread the gospel to new places. The church did not thrive because the hardship went away, but because in the hardship people made a deeper stand for Christ. Your current trial does not mean God has forgotten you or that your faith is failing. It can be a place where He deepens your roots in Him and shows that He is the one who sustains you when others do not.
God is in control even when people act unjustly toward you, and He sees every detail of your life at home, at work, and in the church. He has not left you. His mercies are new for you this morning, and His compassion has not failed.
I am praying for you in these specific ways. I am asking the Lord Jesus, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father, to guard your heart and mind with His peace that passes understanding and to lift the weight of exhaustion and discouragement. I am asking Him to give you wisdom and grace with your roommates and landlord, to provide rest and help with your daily needs including your pets and your work situation, and to lead you to genuine fellowship where you are seen and loved as part of His family. I am asking Him to comfort you in the pain of family rejection and isolation and to remind you that you are not invisible to Him. He knows your name, He knows your long waiting, and He has purpose for your life in Christ to know Him, to be conformed to Him, and to share His love with others.
For your financial needs, I am praying that God will provide for you according to His riches and wisdom and teach you to trust His faithful provision day by day. For your desire for a spouse and helpers after waiting so many years, I am praying that if it is His will He will bring a godly marriage as He designed it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman lived in purity and faithfulness, and that in all relationships He will be glorified and you will be helped to walk in holiness. Above all I pray that you will keep your eyes on the Lord, spend time daily in His Word, recall His promises to your mind, and let the Holy Spirit renew your hope.
You are not without purpose. You are here because God created you and Christ died and rose to give you life and hope beyond these present troubles. Do not walk through this darkness alone. Please reach out to a trusted pastor or counselor and to a mature believer who can walk with you, pray with you regularly, and help you stay anchored in Scripture. Keep bringing every burden to Jesus. He hears, He cares, and He remains faithful.
