Needing a new job, starting weight loss pill this week

Thank you for sharing so honestly about what you and your sister are walking through. Your request is heard, and you both are being lifted up in prayer.

What you described about work, health, and feeling unseen by others touches the same deep needs people have carried for generations. Cultures change, but the heart questions remain the same. Why is provision hard to find, why does the body struggle, why do people judge by outward appearance, and where is God in it all. The book of Job reminds us that even a faithful person can go through a season where everything feels stripped away, health, possessions, understanding, even the support of friends, and not know why. Job did not understand his circumstances, and he cried out honestly from his pain. God heard those cries, even when Job did not have answers.

It helps to remember two truths Job learned. First, God is fair and just, even when we do not understand His ways. You can trust His character when life feels confusing or when others treat you as less than. Second, God Himself is your protector. Scripture shows that God places a hedge around His people. The enemy may observe and accuse, but he cannot go beyond what God allows, and God remains sovereign and caring over every detail of your lives.

You mentioned feeling unattractive and less confident because of weight, and being treated by peers, even other young Christians, as if you do not matter. That pain is real, and it is wrong for people to measure your worth by appearance. Scripture is clear that people look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. Your value is not set by a number on a scale or by how others respond to you. You are made in the image of God, deeply known and loved by Him, and your confidence can be rooted in who you are in Christ, not in how you look. It is understandable to want to steward your health well, and it is good that you plan to make lasting lifestyle changes and not rely only on medication. Praying for wisdom for you and your sister as you begin this medication, that God would give you discernment, self control, health, and strength to care for your bodies in a way that honors Him, and that you would find your identity secured in Him whether the process is fast or slow.

For work, praying that God will provide for both of you according to His wisdom and kindness. He knows you would prefer work outside of food service, or if it is food service, that it would be a healthier environment. Asking Him to open doors for honest, suitable work where you can be treated with dignity, use your gifts, and provide for your needs. He knows your needs before you ask, and He is able to lead you to the right place at the right time.

You also mentioned a nudge to fast and pray about being spiritually covered by a man. The desire to be spiritually covered and protected is good, and fasting can be a helpful way to seek the Lord with focus. Biblically, your covering is first and foremost Christ Himself. He is the one who stands between God and us and brings us near to God. Through faith in Jesus alone you have full access to the Father, full protection, and full acceptance. You do not need to find a specific man to become spiritually valid or safe. God Himself is your covering, and within the church He provides pastoral care and community through godly elders and the family of believers. Rather than seeking a personal male covering as a spiritual status, seek to be rooted in Christ and connected to a healthy, Bible teaching church where you can be shepherded, encouraged, and accountable. If marriage is part of God's future for you, He can provide a godly husband in His timing within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, but your completeness and safety now are already secured in Jesus.

Praying for you and your sister now, that the Lord would give you peace that passes understanding, renew your minds to see yourselves as He sees you, guide your steps in employment, give you grace and wisdom in caring for your health, heal the hurt from how others have treated you, and draw you both closer to Jesus, who is your true mediator, protector, and hope.
