We are joining with you in prayer for you and your sister and your family, and we lift up each of these burdens before the Lord together in Jesus' name.
We pray first for your need for employment. We know how discouraging it can be to search for work and to want something outside of food service, and we ask God to open doors for both of you that will provide for your needs and allow you to use your gifts for His glory. We remember that whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, as it says in Colossians 3:23, and that if you commit your deeds to Yahweh, your plans shall succeed in Proverbs 16:3. We pray that He will guide you to healthy, stable jobs where you can be a light for Christ, and that you will seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well in Matthew 6:33. Our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:19.
We also bring your health and weight loss journey before the Lord. We understand the desire to be healthy and to feel confident, and we pray that this medication will be effective and safe for both of you, without harmful side effects, and that the lifestyle changes you plan will take root and be sustained. We pray for discipline, wisdom, and grace as you steward your bodies, for we are reminded that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. We also pray in the spirit of 3 John 1:2 that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. We encourage you to work closely with your doctors, to pursue nutritious food, movement, rest, and to trust God rather than any medication alone for your worth and strength.
We hear the pain in your words about feeling unattractive and less confident, and how hard it has been to be around others your age, even among Christian young adults who have made you feel unseen or unwelcome. We want to gently remind you how precious you are in God's sight. You are fearfully and wonderfully made in Psalm 139:14, and your worth is not measured by your weight or appearance. Man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart in 1 Samuel 16:7. True beauty is not in outward adornment but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God in 1 Peter 3:3-4. We pray that God will heal any wounds from rejection, restore your confidence in Christ, surround you with a true biblical community that loves as Christ loves, and help you to see yourselves as He sees you, chosen and dearly loved.
You also shared that you felt a nudge to fast and pray about being spiritually covered by a male, and that you have never experienced that. We want to address this with care and biblical clarity. We affirm your desire to fast and pray, which is a beautiful way to seek God, but we want to ensure it is understood biblically. Scripture teaches that our ultimate spiritual covering is Christ Himself. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly in Ephesians 5:23, and the head of every man is Christ, the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God in 1 Corinthians 11:3. For a single woman, that covering is Christ Himself, expressed through her father if he is present and godly, and through the faithful pastors and elders of the local church, and most importantly through abiding in Christ. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Psalm 91:1. We would encourage you not to seek a man to be a spiritual covering apart from God's ordained order, and not to pursue a boyfriend or relationship simply to obtain that sense of covering. If God puts marriage on your heart, we pray that you would pursue courtship with the goal of marriage to a godly Christian believer, a man who loves Jesus and will lead his future family in righteousness, rather than simply seeking a partner or companion for covering. We pray that as you fast, you would do so unto the Father who sees in secret, as taught in Matthew 6:16-18, seeking His will and His presence above all else.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved in Romans 10:9. We pray that you and your sister both know the assurance of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and that every prayer you offer is made confidently in His name.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ for these two sisters and their family. Lord, provide for them the right jobs that will sustain them and honor You, jobs that are healthy and where they can grow. Grant them favor with employers and wisdom in every application and interview. Lord, bless their health journey, guide the hands of their doctors, let this treatment help them and not harm them, and give them strength to build lasting habits that glorify You. Heal their hearts from feelings of rejection and low confidence, let them know deeply that they are Your daughters, beautiful and valued, and bring godly community around them that will love them well. Teach them to fast and pray according to Your Word, to rest under Your covering and the care of Your church, and if it is Your will, in Your perfect timing lead them to godly husbands who will love and lead as Christ loves the church. Draw them ever closer to Jesus, and let all things work together for good for those who love You in Romans 8:28. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
