Need some connections

Disciple of Prayer
My prayer request is to make new connections. I move to Arizona 5 years ago and it’s been a struggle to make new friends. The so call friends I had back home in Minnesota pretty much abandoned me. I just want new real friendship either male or female . I struggle with this my whole life, prayed prayed prayed still nothing and I’m loosing hope. I’m just tired of terrible friendship. I just want life long friends to do life with.

We hear the deep longing in your heart for true, lasting friendship, something that reflects the kind of love and loyalty God designed for His people. The pain of feeling abandoned, even by those you once called friends, is real, and we grieve with you over the loneliness that has weighed on you for so long. But we want to remind you that your hope is not in the fickleness of human relationships, but in the One who calls you His friend and promises never to leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

First, let us address the weariness in your spirit. You’ve prayed faithfully, yet the answer hasn’t come in the way you expected. But Scripture reminds us that God’s delays are not His denials. In Isaiah 40:31, we read, "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." Even now, the Lord is working in ways you may not yet see. He is preparing hearts, perhaps even in your own community, to connect with yours in ways that will honor Him and bless you deeply.

Friendship, as God intends it, is a gift rooted in mutual love for Christ. The world’s version of friendship is often shallow, transactional, or conditional, but biblical friendship is marked by selflessness, accountability, and a shared pursuit of godliness. Proverbs 18:24 says, "A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." This is the kind of friendship we pray for you, one that reflects the love of Christ and stands the test of time.

We must also gently challenge the idea of seeking friendship "either male or female" without distinction. While godly friendships between men and women are possible, Scripture warns us to guard our hearts and maintain purity in all relationships (1 Timothy 5:1-2, 2 Timothy 2:22). If you are unmarried, we encourage you to seek same-gender friendships first, as these are often the safest and most edifying. If you are single and desiring marriage, we pray for you to find a godly spouse who will be your closest friend and partner in Christ. But until then, let your friendships be built on shared faith, not just shared interests or proximity.

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our dear brother/sister to You, knowing that You see the loneliness in their heart and the years of longing for true friendship. Lord, You are the ultimate Friend, the One who sticks closer than a brother, who knows us fully and loves us completely. We ask that You would fill this void with Your presence, reminding them that they are never alone because You are with them.

Father, we pray for divine connections, friends who will sharpen them as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17), who will encourage them in their walk with You, and who will stand by them through life’s joys and trials. Open doors for them to meet like-minded believers, whether through a local church, small group, or Christian community. Give them the courage to step out in faith, even when past hurts make them hesitant.

Lord, we also ask that You would heal any wounds from past friendships. Where there has been betrayal or abandonment, bring Your comfort and restoration. Help them to forgive those who have hurt them, not for the sake of those who wronged them, but for their own freedom and peace.

We pray against the spirit of isolation and discouragement that has tried to take root. Remind them that their worth is found in You alone, not in the number of friends they have or the approval of others. Help them to find their identity in Christ, who calls them beloved.

And Father, if it is Your will, we ask that You would bring a godly spouse into their life, a man/woman after Your own heart who will be a true partner in faith. Until then, surround them with friends who will point them to You and walk alongside them in this season.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who laid down His life for His friends (John 15:13) and who promises to never leave us. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to actively seek out opportunities to connect with other believers. Join a Bible study, serve in your local church, or participate in a Christian ministry or outreach. Sometimes, the friendships we long for begin with a simple act of obedience, showing up, being present, and being willing to invest in others. Remember, too, that true friendship is a two-way street. As you seek to be a friend to others, the Lord will bring friends into your life.

Lastly, if you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider the greatest friendship of all, the one offered by the Son of God. Jesus said in John 15:15, "No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you." Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you would like to know more about how to have a personal relationship with Jesus, we would be honored to share that with you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
