Need hope

Disciple of Prayer
I have stage IV cancer, and some nurses are trying to take away my hope. Please pray in the name of Jesus Christ that I get it back.

We hear your cry for hope in the midst of this incredibly difficult battle with stage IV cancer, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting you up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your request touches our hearts deeply, for hope is a precious gift from God, and no one should ever seek to strip it away, especially those entrusted with your care.

First, we must rebuke the spirit of despair and discouragement that these nurses, whether intentionally or not, may be allowing to influence their words or actions. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came that you might have life, and have it abundantly. We declare that any voice speaking hopelessness over you is not from God, for He is the God of all hope (Romans 15:13). The Lord does not delight in the suffering of His children, and He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). We pray that He would silence every voice that contradicts His promises and fill you afresh with His peace and assurance.

Scripture reminds us that hope in God is never in vain. Jeremiah 29:11 declares, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Even in the valley of the shadow of death, the Lord is with you (Psalm 23:4), and His plans for you are good. We do not know the number of your days, but we know that each one is written in His book (Psalm 139:16), and that nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39). Whether He chooses to heal you miraculously, sustain you through treatment, or call you home to glory, your hope is secure in Him.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for you as you navigate conversations with medical professionals. Proverbs 13:12 tells us, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life." It is not wrong to hope for healing, for God is the Great Physician, and we have seen Him move in miraculous ways. At the same time, we encourage you to anchor your hope in Christ Himself, not solely in a particular outcome. He is your strength, your refuge, and your portion forever (Psalm 73:26). If the Lord does not choose to heal you on this side of eternity, we trust that He will carry you through every moment with His grace and prepare you for the glory that awaits.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is facing this fierce battle with cancer. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who heals. We ask that You would restore hope to their heart in a tangible way. Where despair has crept in, replace it with Your perfect peace. Where fear has taken root, uproot it with Your love. Remind them that their life is hidden with Christ in You (Colossians 3:3), and that nothing, not even death, can separate them from Your love.

We pray for supernatural healing, Father. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and we know that You are able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Whether You choose to heal them completely, give them more time, or call them home, we trust in Your perfect will. Strengthen their body, mind, and spirit, Lord. Give them courage to face each day, and surround them with people who will speak life, not despair.

We also pray for those nurses and medical professionals caring for them. Soften their hearts, Lord, and help them to see the power of hope in You. If they do not know You, draw them to Yourself so they may experience the hope that only comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Above all, we ask that You would be glorified in this situation. May Your name be lifted high, and may many come to know You through this trial. We declare that our brother/sister is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37), and we stand on Your promises of hope, healing, and eternal life.

In the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We want to encourage you to hold fast to God’s Word, even when circumstances seem overwhelming. Meditate on Scriptures that speak of God’s faithfulness, such as Lamentations 3:21-23: "This I recall to my mind; therefore I have hope. It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Spend time in prayer and worship, for the Lord inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). Surround yourself with believers who will uplift you, pray for you, and remind you of God’s promises.

If you have not already, we also encourage you to seek out a pastor, chaplain, or Christian counselor who can walk alongside you during this time. You do not have to face this battle alone. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and we are here for you as well.

Lastly, we want to gently remind you that true hope is found only in Jesus Christ. If you have never surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is a free gift, and it is the only way to have eternal hope beyond this life. If you would like to pray to receive Christ, we would be honored to guide you through that decision.

You are deeply loved, and we will continue to stand in the gap for you. May the Lord fill you with His peace, strengthen your faith, and restore your hope in ways you never imagined.

We were so sorry to read what you are carrying right now. Stage IV cancer is a heavy road to walk, and when words from your nurses leave you feeling like hope is being pulled away, that can feel discouraging and lonely. Thank you for letting us pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ.

We hear how important hope is to you, not as pretending things are different than they are, but as something steady to hold onto each day. It makes sense that comments that sound hopeless would shake you.

One thing that has helped others in long hospital seasons is to have a trusted person with you at appointments when you can, someone who can listen along with you, help ask clarifying questions, and later help you sort through what was said. If your hospital has a chaplain or you have a pastor you trust, inviting them to visit in person can also be a quiet, steady support between medical visits. Please keep letting your medical team know how you are doing, as you continue to seek the Lord in prayer.

We are holding you in prayer.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the diagnosis, the tiredness, and the longing for hope to return. Draw near and be present in each day, steady the heart with Your peace, and keep hope alive in You. Give wisdom and kindness to every nurse and doctor providing care, and surround our friend with people who listen well and care deeply. We ask for Your mercy, Your will, and strength for each step ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry for hope has been heard, and I take it with earnestness to the mercy seat on your behalf. To be wearied in the length of your way, and to feel that others would take hope from you, is a sore trial, yet I would remind you that there is a hope which no nurse and no disease can take away.

There is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as you. The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy. Mark that character, the soul has but a little hope, yet the Lord taketh pleasure in him. Though your hope be small and trembling this morning, if it be set upon His mercy in Christ, it is precious in His sight.

Do not believe the lie of Satan that there is no hope. You are still in the land of mercy, and while there is a throne of grace there is hope. When a man believes there is no hope in the right way, he is tempted to despair, but high thoughts of God beget hope in the soul, and hope leads to confidence, and confidence brings assurance.

Therefore open your mouth wide before God, for He bends over you in infinite compassion and says, Speak, My child, My ears are waiting to hear your cry. If He has brought others out of bondage and healed others by the leaves of the tree which are for the healing of the nations, take hope that He can deal graciously with you. The least thing about Christ is healing, and His mercy is abundant.

Let us pray together now in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our great Healer.

O Father of mercies, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, I lift up this afflicted one before Thee. Thou seest the burden of this sickness and the weariness of heart. Lord, when hope seems faint, do Thou turn a possible hope into an actual hope, and give a good hope of eternal life through believing in Jesus Christ. Restore hope that is stayed upon Thy mercy, not upon man. Let this dear soul know that pardon and healing are in one hand, for the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings. If it be Thy will, grant healing to the body, but in all things grant healing to the soul, comfort in suffering, peace that passes understanding, and confidence that whether in life or in death, to be with Christ is gain. Hear this prayer for Jesus Christ's sake, and let hope rise again like the morning light. Amen.

Take heart, and keep looking unto Jesus. He will not despise the prayer of the afflicted who hope in His mercy.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request has been heard and we are bringing you before the Lord with care and urgency.

In a time of such heavy suffering it is understandable that words from others can feel like they are stealing hope, but hope in Jesus Christ is not fragile and it is not given or taken away by human opinion. It is anchored in His love, His promises, and His victory over death itself.

We pray for you now in the name of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ. You see the pain, the weariness, and the weight of this illness. Lord, restore hope where it has grown faint. Let Your presence be near and Your comfort be real. Fill this heart with peace that passes understanding, with strength for each day, and with the assurance that nothing can separate us from Your love in Christ. Give wisdom and compassion to every nurse and doctor who provides care, and above all let Your healing mercy and sustaining grace be known. We ask that hope would rise again, not as wishful thinking, but as confident trust in You who holds life in Your hands, both now and forever. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, Amen.

Do not let go of the hope Christ gives. He is near to the brokenhearted and He hears every prayer. Keep looking to Him, keep asking Him for daily strength, and allow His Word to remind you that He is with you in this valley. We will continue to pray for you, for comfort, for peace, and for renewed hope in Christ each day.

Your request for hope in the midst of a stage four diagnosis has been heard, and I am joining with you in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, agreeing together as He promised that when two or three agree concerning anything it will be done by the Father.

I understand how heavy it feels when medical voices around you speak only in terms of what they see, and it can feel as if hope itself is being taken away. The hope that Scripture speaks of cannot be taken by anyone else because it is not just a wish. True hope is both a deep desire and a confident expectation together. You can desire many things you never expect, but biblical hope desires what God has promised and expects Him to be faithful to His promise. That is why it is described as an anchor for the soul, sure and steadfast. When everything else is shaking, that anchor holds and you cannot be moved or swayed because it is fastened not to circumstances but to Jesus Himself.

That hope is the blessed hope of eternal life, which God who cannot lie promised before time began, and the hope of the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. Being justified by His grace we are made heirs according to that hope of eternal life. It is the hope that sustains you when all else is failing, and through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures that hope is nourished. My prayer for you is what Paul prayed, that the God of hope would fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope.

I am praying for you for healing as well, because the early church did bring the sick to Jesus and to the apostles and prayed for them, and the fervent prayer from the heart of a righteous person avails much. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and He reveals Himself as the Lord our healer who becomes to us whatever our need requires. At the same time prayer is not a tool to force our will to be done on earth. Your Father knows what you need before you ask, so prayer is not informing Him. Prayer changes me more than it changes God, and in prayer we often learn submission to the will of God. Even Jesus learned obedience through what He suffered, and when Paul prayed three times for his thorn to be removed the answer was my grace is sufficient for you, my strength is made perfect in weakness. Sometimes God answers immediately, sometimes He allows a time of testing between the prayer and the answer to strengthen faith. The wisest prayer we can pray is Lord, work out your complete and perfect will in my life, have your way. That prayer opens the door for God to act freely without violating the will He has given us, and it brings the Spirit to minister assurance and comfort to the heart even while we wait.

So I will continue in prayer for you and not stop, laboring fervently as we are called to do.

Let me pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift up this dear one to You. You know the diagnosis and the fear and the words that have wounded hope. I ask that You become their healer and their refuge, and that You fill them with joy and peace in believing. Anchor their soul in the sure and steadfast hope set before us in Jesus, the hope of eternal life and the promise of Your presence now and forever. Touch their body according to Your perfect will, and let Your grace be sufficient and Your strength be made perfect in weakness. Teach them through this prayer to rest in submission to Your good will, and let Your Spirit bring comfort and assurance. Sustain them day by day, and let this hope keep them going. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for the restoration of your hope as you walk through stage IV cancer and face discouraging words from some of the nurses caring for you.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord and we pray in Jesus Name that He will restore to you a strong and living hope, guard your heart and mind with His peace, and remind you daily that your life and future are in His hands. We pray in Jesus Name that He will comfort you and strengthen you and help you to sense His presence closely in this difficult time. We take comfort in Romans 15:13 which reminds us that He is the God of hope who fills us with joy and peace as we trust in Him.

If your request was answered and your hope has been renewed, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still struggling to hold onto hope, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
