A Troubled Prayer
True repentance means bringing both your sorrows and sins to God with greater urgency for forgiveness.
Free Pardon
God offers full forgiveness for all sin, and this transforms the heart to love and serve Him.
For Christ’s Sake
God’s mercy comes only through Christ, so turn from your own worth and plead His name for forgiveness and life.
We join with you in bringing this heartfelt cry before the Lord and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus our Lord, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father and comfort for our souls.

We hear your desire for His presence, His comfort, His provision, healing, forgiveness and help in your work, and we stand with you in prayer for each of these needs. The Scripture assures us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. We are also reminded, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19. And again, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

We also lift up your desire for health and for a clean heart and body. God is our healer and He cares for both our soul and our body. It is written, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. While we pray for health every day and every moment, we also trust His sovereign will, knowing that even in times of weakness He is our strength and He works all things for our good as we walk with Him. For your request for forgiveness and cleansing, we cling to this promise, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. And we echo the prayer, Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10.

For the difficulties in your work, we pray that you will find strength and purpose in serving the Lord through your labor. Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Proverbs 16:3. And, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. We pray that God will give you wisdom, skill, and favor in all you put your hand to, and that even when work is difficult, you will know His help and peace.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We ask that You draw near and be their comfort and their ever present help. Supply richly all their needs according to Your riches in glory, provide for their daily life, and grant them health and strength as their soul prospers before You. Lay Your healing hand upon them and sustain them every day and every moment. Forgive all their sins and debts as they confess them before You, wash away all guilt, and create in them a clean heart and renew a right spirit within them. Make their body and heart pure and wholly Yours, a temple for Your Holy Spirit. Help them in all their difficult work, give them wisdom, understanding, and endurance, and cause all that they do to go well according to Your perfect will. Let their work be for Your glory and let them find rest and joy in Your presence. We thank You that You hear us when we call upon the name of Jesus, and we trust You to answer according to Your love and mercy. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily through prayer and His Word, to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you, and to walk in the cleansing and new life He gives. 1 Peter 5:7. He is faithful and He will not leave you nor forsake you.

We heard your prayer and the weight behind it, wanting Jesus near for comfort, provision, health, help with difficult work, and a clean heart free from guilt and debt. It makes sense you would bring all of this to Him at once when everything feels urgent.

When work feels difficult and you long for it to go well all the time, it can help to bring it to the Lord in smaller pieces. We have found it steadying to name the one or two most pressing tasks for today, pray briefly over each, and then take the next faithful step, asking for wisdom and for help from others when needed. If guilt over past debts is weighing on you, it can also help to speak openly with a trusted pastor or mature believer as you bring those burdens to Jesus for His cleansing and guidance for what to do next.

We also hear your desire for health every day. We will keep praying for your strength and wellbeing, and if you have ongoing health concerns, we encourage you to see your doctor alongside prayer so you have support for your body as well.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. Comfort him, supply what he needs, forgive and cleanse his heart, and give him wisdom and strength for his work today. Help him to know Your nearness moment by moment. Amen.

Your prayer brings before the Lord the very wants which His Word most graciously meets, and we rejoice to carry it with you to the throne of grace through Jesus Christ our Lord.

You ask first for forgiveness of debts and guilt and for a clean heart and body. Hear what the Scripture declares, that there is forgiveness with God. It is a divine forgiveness, for He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake. The amount of guilt is put out of consideration, for He forgives not on account of the sinner but for His own sake through the full atonement of Christ. That atonement sets forth the guilt of sin most thoroughly, and it also sets forth the remedy most completely. The work of the Messiah was to finish transgression and to make an end of sins and to make reconciliation for iniquity, so that our guilt shall be dissolved beneath the sea and shall be found no more. This blessed sentence contains no conditions but is given to every repenting and believing sinner, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent. Do as Luther did when his friend said to him, Dost thou not say, I believe in the forgiveness of sins, now believe in the forgiveness of sins for thyself. Trust Him that hung upon the tree to redeem His people, and you are delivered.

And with forgiveness comes cleansing. You have prayed to be made clean, and God Himself has promised, I will sprinkle clean water upon you and ye shall be clean. This is a covenant blessing, not to be wrought by your own doings or efforts, but applied by the Lord Himself. There is a double cleansing in the fountain opened in Christ. The blood atones for guilt and the water washes away the tendency toward future sin. When the Son removes guilt, the Spirit removes guile. He is not content to make the outside clean and leave the inward part filthy, but He cries for inward cleansing and for renewal in the hidden fountains of thought and action. When the eyes are full of tears of repentance they are most fit for looking to Christ who takes all our guilt away, and then there follows a great change of conduct.

You ask also for comfort, for health, for daily supply, and for help in difficult work. These are right petitions, and we are taught to pray without ceasing, for we want a blessing on all the work we are doing. Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it. It is vain to rise up early and sit up late and eat the bread of carefulness without God, for without Him we cannot prosper. Pray therefore as long as you work, and keep to the work which your Father hath given you to do. As for health and supply, our Lord does richly supply all our needs according to His wisdom and love, and He is able to heal, yet His promise is not that we shall be without any trial of the body every moment, but that He will be with us and comfort us and sanctify every condition to our good. In every danger and temptation we may pray without ceasing, for we are always in need of His keeping.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, for Thine own sake blot out the transgressions of this Thy servant who confesses his guilt and seeks Thy face through Jesus Christ alone. Speak that complete word of grace, Thy sins are forgiven thee, and let no jot or stain remain. Sprinkle clean water upon him and make his heart and body clean, taking away both the guilt and the power of sin, and creating within him a new nature that hates guile and loves holiness. Be Thou his comfort and his daily supply, and according to Thy perfect will grant health and strength, and sustain him in every difficult task of his hands. Teach him to believe on Him whom Thou hast sent and to pray without ceasing as he labours, that his work may be established by Thee and go well under Thy hand. Keep him trusting not in himself but in the finished work of Christ, who has brought in everlasting righteousness. In the name of Jesus our only Saviour we ask it, Amen.
