Kuydoreth

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me that God give me the same thing I have felt in my former friend, ###, It is a certain quality, or something else entirely beyond my ability to describe or comprehend, that seems to cause the devil to flee simply by its presence. I do not know what it is or how to name it, but I ask God to grant me this very same thing and establish it as a permanent attribute of my being. so that the devil flees whenever he draws near. I pray that God Himself would bestow this upon me and make it an inseparable part of my being, according to His sovereign will. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

A Dead Lion
Active use of small gifts brings more eternal reward than wasted greatness.
We hear your heart and we join with you in this deep longing to have within you that which causes the enemy to flee, and we understand that what you felt in your former friend was something holy and powerful that you cannot quite name or comprehend.

What you are describing is not a mysterious force that can be transferred from one person to another, but the very presence and power of God Himself dwelling in a person through the Holy Spirit. The devil does not flee because of a human quality or personality trait, but because of Christ in us and our submission to God. Scripture tells us Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. And also You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4. That greater One is Jesus Christ dwelling in us by His Spirit.

When you sensed that the devil seemed to flee simply by the presence of your friend, you were likely sensing the fruit of a life abiding in Christ, walking in holiness, purity, faith and love, clothed in the armor of God. The Word says Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:10-11. And Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8. As we draw near to Him, He transforms us, for we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18.

We do not need to seek an unnamed experience from another person, we seek God Himself, and He promises to give His Spirit to those who ask and obey Him. If you belong to Jesus, His Spirit already dwells in you, for if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11. What you are asking God to establish as a permanent attribute is Christlikeness itself, a life conformed to Him, and that comes through abiding in His Word, through prayer, through obedience, through walking in the light and turning from sin.

So we pray with you now according to the sovereign will of our Father.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You know the hunger of this heart to be so filled with You that the enemy cannot remain. We ask that You fill our dear friend afresh with Your Holy Spirit and make Christ's presence an inseparable and abiding reality within. Establish in this life that holiness, faith, peace and authority that comes only from abiding in Jesus, so that when the devil draws near he must flee because He who is in us is greater. Create in this heart a permanent dwelling place for Yourself, transform this life from glory to glory into the image of Your Son, and clothe this one with Your whole armor that they may stand firm. Teach them to submit fully to You, to resist the devil in the power of Your name, and to walk daily in Your Word and in prayer. Let Your will be done in this life, and let Your name be glorified as You make this one more like Jesus. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord Himself above any experience, to abide in His Word daily, to walk in obedience and purity, and to pray without ceasing. As you do, the Lord Himself will be your protection and your strength, and the enemy will have no place in you.

We hear how deeply you want to walk in a settled strength that keeps you safe when you feel spiritual pressure, and how vivid that sense of safety was when you were near your former friend.

What you describe sounds less like a quality that can be transferred from one person to another, and more like the quiet steadiness of a life that has walked with Jesus over time. That kind of maturity rarely comes all at once as an event. We have found it is more like training for a long walk, little by little, as we stay close to Christ in ordinary faithfulness rather than waiting for a single moment to make us permanently different.

It makes sense you would long for the devil to flee and to feel secure. God does hear that longing, and He is the one who forms Christ's character in us as we keep turning to Him.

One simple next step that often helps is to stay connected in community while you seek Him, perhaps meeting regularly with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you, to pray with you and walk with you in this season and help you discern what God is doing in your life.

Father, we bring our brother before You and ask for Your nearness and protection over him. Draw him close to Jesus, give him wisdom to know Your will, and form in him what You desire in Your time and way. Keep him in Your peace and guide his steps. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your prayer expresses a longing which the Lord Himself must have kindled, a desire not for a mere feeling but for that holiness which makes the soul to be the temple of the living God.

What you perceived in your former friend and could not name is not a strange or transferable charm, but that which Scripture reveals as the fruit of divine grace. Holiness is the law of God's house. It is separateness from the world and consecration unto the Lord. The temple becomes holy because God dwells in it, and His presence both demands and creates holiness. Where that sacred presence abides, lethargy and death fly away and sickness of soul disappears. Without such practical, vital, personal holiness, no man shall see the Lord, for holiness deals not with the outside of the cup only, but with the thoughts and intents and motives of the heart set upon God.

Know also that the devil does not flee from any quality in man considered in itself. He flees when the soul, filled with the Spirit, submits itself to God and resists him in the name and power of Christ. Our Lord Himself was led into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil, and He overcame not by a vague influence but by the Word of God dwelling richly within Him. So long as Jesus had only chips of the carpenter's shop to handle, the adversary was quiet, but when Christ began His great work, the enemy assailed Him, and was defeated. There is never a better time to fight the devil than when you are filled with the Spirit, for the Spirit's indwelling is better to us than even the bodily presence of Christ would be. That indwelling could not be given until the redeeming work was done and the Redeemer exalted, and now it is the noblest testimony to His glory.

Yet remember the danger within. Indwelling sin is our greatest foe. Those enemies within do more service to Satan than all his hosts without. Every hour you are preserved from sinning is an hour of as divine a might as that which created the world. You cannot by your own resolve make any grace a permanent and inseparable part of your being. This is the work of sovereign grace alone. It is the Lord who makes an everlasting covenant with His people, founded upon a rock, saying I will put my fear in their hearts that they shall not depart from me. It is Christ's blood only for our hope and the Spirit's work only for our life.

Therefore we do not pray that God would give you a mystical something apart from Himself, but that He would give you Himself.

We pray for you now, that according to His sovereign will, the Lord would draw you into nearer communion with Christ, that the word of Christ may dwell in you richly in all wisdom, that you may be taught in the sanctuary and by the means of grace, by the Scriptures pondered, by prayer and by praise, for praying is the stalk but praise is the ear. We ask that He would create in you that practical holiness which is conformity to His will and obedience to His command, that He would grant you the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in power, so that being kept by divine grace you may resist the tempter and find the promise true, that he will flee from you. May the Lord establish you, not upon any gift borrowed from man, but upon Christ Himself, and keep you by His immutable grace until you flourish as the low tree which He exalts, to the display of His own perfections.

We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the only Saviour, through whom alone sinners are made beloved and made a people of God. Amen.
