Kuydoreth

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me that God give me the same thing I have felt in my former friend, ###, It is a certain quality, or something else entirely beyond my ability to describe or comprehend, that seems to cause the devil to flee simply by its presence. I do not know what it is or how to name it, but I ask God to grant me this very same thing and establish it as a permanent attribute of my being. so that the devil flees whenever he draws near. I pray that God Himself would bestow this upon me and make it an inseparable part of my being, according to His sovereign will. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

We join you in this prayer and we hear the deep longing in your heart for that holy presence you sensed in your former friend, that unexplainable reality that caused darkness to flee. We understand your desire for God Himself to establish such a work permanently within you, and we bring this before the Lord together in Jesus' name.

We want to gently share what Scripture teaches about this, because what you describe is not a mystical quality that can be transferred from one person to another as if it were a human attribute, but it is the presence and power of Jesus Christ Himself dwelling in a person by the Holy Spirit. The devil does not flee because of something inherently in us, but because of Christ in us and our submission to God. Scripture says, Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. And again, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. It is not our own strength or a special aura, but the Holy Spirit who lives in those who belong to Jesus that makes the enemy flee.

What you sensed was likely the fruit of a life abiding in Christ, walking in holiness, prayer, and the Word, clothed in the armor of God. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, and we are called to put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11-12. As we behold the Lord and walk with Him, we are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit 2 Corinthians 3:18. This transformation is what produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23, and a life that carries the light which darkness cannot overcome.

We rejoice that you prayed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we receive the Holy Spirit and victory over the enemy. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. If you have repented and believed on Him for salvation, His Spirit already dwells in you Romans 8:9, Romans 8:11, and He desires to fill you more and more as you submit to Him daily.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You according to Your sovereign will. We ask that You would fill them anew with Your Holy Spirit and make Your presence an inseparable and abiding reality in their life. Establish them firmly in Christ, rooted and built up in Him, so that when the enemy draws near he must flee because He sees Jesus in them. Grant them a life of submission to You, resistance to the devil, and steadfast faith. Cleanse them, sanctify them, and transform them daily into the image of Your Son. Teach them to abide in Your Word, to pray without ceasing, to walk in obedience and humility, and to put on the whole armor of God each day. Let Your light shine through them so that darkness cannot remain. Make this work permanent and growing, not by their own power but by Your grace and power alone. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our victory, Amen.

We encourage you to pursue this not as seeking an experience or a transferred quality, but as seeking Christ Himself. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you James 4:8. Abide in Him, remain in His Word, walk in repentance and obedience, and pray continually. Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith 1 Peter 5:8-9. As you do, the Lord Himself will establish in you that holy stability and power that causes the enemy to flee, for it will be Christ living in you.

We hear the deep longing in your prayer, and we have been holding it before the Lord with you. You caught a glimpse of something real and steady in your former friend, something that seemed to make darkness give way, and it is understandable you would want that same settled strength to be part of your own life.

What you are describing is rarely a single mysterious quality that can be passed from one person to another. In our walk with others we have more often seen it as the quiet evidence of a life yielded to the Holy Spirit, His presence slowly forming Christlike character, love, peace, steadiness and gentleness, that is not at home with evil. It is not a power we can claim on our own, but fruit that grows as we stay close to Jesus and learn to walk in dependence on Him.

Rather than straining to name or capture the feeling itself, we encourage you to keep seeking the Giver. Stay rooted in simple daily ways of abiding, honest prayer, time in Scripture, and fellowship with faithful believers who know you. If you have a pastor you trust, share this desire with him so he can pray with you regularly and help you notice how God is already at work in you.

Father, we bring our brother before You in the name of Jesus. Draw him close to Yourself, fill him with Your Holy Spirit and make him more like Christ each day. Give him wisdom, peace and protection as he walks with You, and shape his life according to Your good and sovereign will. Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with care and with truth.

You desire that the evil one should flee from you, and this is a right desire, for our adversary the devil goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Yet Scripture does not teach that the devil flees because of some nameless quality made to be a permanent and inseparable attribute of our own being, as though we possessed a power in ourselves. The Word says, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The fleeing of the tempter is not by a mysterious force resident in us, but by our submission to God and our union with Christ.

What you truly need, and what we earnestly pray God will give you, is that practical, personal, active, vital holiness of which the Scripture speaks, Follow holiness, without which no one shall see the Lord. This holiness is not perfection without flaw, for no one who knows his own heart pretends to be perfectly conformed to God's will, but it is a real work of grace. Morality may clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but holiness goes into the very caverns of the heart. As one rightly said, holiness is having a clean inside. It deals with the thoughts and intents, the purposes, the aims and the motives, that the heart shall be set on God and beat with love to Him. It is separation from the world and conformity to the will and character of God, a dedication of ourselves to God without reserve.

This holiness is not transferred from one person to another. It is wrought in us by the Spirit through our union with Christ. Every believer is anointed in Christ, yet weakness and divine anointing may stand together, and even our Lord Himself, when He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, was tempted of the devil. The devil is a great fool that he will thrust his hand into the fire, and there is never a better time to fight him than when you are filled with the Spirit. But the victory is Christ's. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. He has met the demands of moral government and made amends to holiness for man's offences, and He destroys sin, which is the work of the devil, in all who trust Him.

Therefore we do not pray that God would impart to you an indescribable something felt in another, but that He would give you Christ Himself and make you like Him. We pray that if you have not already done so, you would trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, for salvation through Him alone secures a life of holiness. And we pray that being kept by His grace you may persevere in holiness, for true grace radically and lastingly changes the heart, and those whom God keeps shall not depart from Him.

Let us pray for you.

O Lord our God and Father, we ask in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that Thou wouldst grant to this soul not a vague power of his own, but Christ formed within, and practical holiness springing from faith in Him. Wash the inside of the cup, cleanse the thoughts and motives, and conform this life to Thine own will and character. Give submission to Thee, faith to resist the tempter, and perseverance to follow holiness all the days of life. Let the works of the devil be destroyed in this heart by the manifest power of Thy Son, and let this one know the anointing that abides in union with Him, to the glory of Thy grace. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in bringing this request before the Lord and ask Him to hear you according to His sovereign will and mercy in Jesus Christ.

We pray that God would grant you what truly causes the evil one to flee, not a vague feeling or an impersonal power, but His own presence dwelling in you through faith in Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches us to submit ourselves to God and to resist the devil, and he will flee, and this happens as we abide in Christ, walk in humility, and live in holiness.

We ask the Father to fill you with His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of holiness through whom He makes His people holy, and to establish you in righteousness and holiness of truth. This sanctification is His gift to those He loves, who are called to be saints through Jesus Christ, and it is kept alive as we remain close to Christ, obey His word, turn from sin, and follow peace with all and holiness of life.

We pray that the Lord Jesus Himself would dwell in your heart by faith, that His blood and His grace would be your confidence, and that your life would be marked by humble mindedness, purity, prayer, and love for God and neighbor. As you walk with Him faithfully, the enemy has no place to stand.

We ask God to deepen your understanding of what you have sensed, to give you discernment, and to form in you by His grace a settled character of holiness that endures, not by your own strength but by His power and keeping. May He lead you into the fullness of life in Christ, into fellowship with His people, into the regular hearing of His word, prayer, and obedience, so that you may stand firm against every temptation.

We commit you to the Lord, trusting that He who promised to sanctify His people will do it for all who trust in His Son. May He grant you assurance, peace, and strength to walk before Him faithfully all your days.

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
