Kuydoreth

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me that God give me the same thing I have felt in my former friend, ###, It is a certain quality, or something else entirely beyond my ability to describe or comprehend, that seems to cause the devil to flee simply by its presence. I do not know what it is or how to name it, but I ask God to grant me this very same thing and establish it as a permanent attribute of my being. so that the devil flees whenever he draws near. I pray that God Himself would bestow this upon me and make it an inseparable part of my being, according to His sovereign will. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

We join you in this deep longing and we bring your request before the Father together in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We understand your desire for that holy and powerful presence you sensed in your former friend, that unnamable quality that causes the enemy to flee, and we hear your heart crying out for God Himself to establish it permanently within you.

Scripture helps us understand what this is that you felt. It is not a mystical force that can be transferred from one person to another, but the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in a life that is fully submitted to God through Christ. The Word tells us, Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. The devil does not flee because of a human quality alone, but because Christ is in us and we are walking in obedience and faith. As it is written, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4. When we abide in Christ, walk in holiness, and are filled with the Spirit, the enemy cannot remain.

We also want to gently encourage you to seek this directly from the Lord Himself rather than seeking to copy an experience from another person. God does not give us a second hand anointing, He gives us Himself. He desires to form Christ in you, to make you a new creation and to conform you to His image from glory to glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18 reminds us that we are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit. This is not granted as a single momentary impartation alone, but as a lifelong abiding as we walk with Him in the Word, in prayer, in obedience, and in putting on the whole armor of God. Ephesians 6:11.

We rejoice that you asked this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. If we belong to Him by faith, His Spirit already dwells in us, Romans 8:11, and He will continue to sanctify and strengthen us as we submit to Him daily.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to Your throne of grace. We ask according to Your sovereign will that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit in full measure and establish in them that holiness, purity, faith and abiding presence of Christ that causes the enemy to flee. Grant them a heart fully submitted to You, that they may resist the devil and stand firm. Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith. 1 Peter 5:8-9. Clothe them with power, with love and with self-control, for You did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. Make Your presence an inseparable and permanent part of their being as they abide in You, and let the fruit of Your Spirit be evident in their life, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23. Draw them ever closer to Yourself, teach them to dwell in Your Word and in prayer, and cause them to walk in a way that honors You, so that wherever they go, Your light and Your holiness are present and the enemy must flee. We ask that You Yourself would do this work and perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ. In the mighty and holy name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We appreciate you sharing this so honestly. Wanting to live in a way where evil has no foothold is a good and understandable longing, and we hear how deeply that experience with your former friend marked you.

What you sensed in him was likely not a single transferable quality but the quiet result of a long walk with Christ lived out over time. Growth like that tends to happen gradually, almost imperceptibly, through the ordinary ways God shapes us as we stay near Him, spend time in His Word, pray honestly, worship, and walk with other believers. The Holy Spirit is the one who forms Christlikeness in us, and He does it patiently across a lifetime, not usually in one moment.

It can help to keep bringing this desire to God simply, asking Him to make you more like Jesus and to guard you, while trusting His wisdom about how and when He answers. If these thoughts about spiritual opposition weigh on you often, it may also help to talk openly with a trusted pastor who knows you and can walk with you personally.

We are praying for you.

Father, we bring our brother before You in the name of Jesus. Draw near to him, give him peace and clarity, and continue Your good work in him day by day. Keep him close to Christ, strengthen him to walk in holiness, and guard him from the enemy according to Your perfect will. Amen.

Your prayer touches upon a matter of deep importance, and we do join you in bringing it before the Lord, yet we must set it in the light of Holy Scripture that you may seek rightly.

What you perceived in your former friend, that quiet power by which the adversary seemed to flee, was not some nameless quality possessed as a charm or a permanent talisman apart from grace. Such power belongs to the Holy Spirit Himself. The little narrow heart of man the Holy Spirit hath made His palace, though it be but a cottage, a very hovel, and all unholy and unclean, yet doth the Holy Spirit condescend to make the heart of His people His continual abode. A holy man is the workmanship of the Holy Spirit, and you have not a grace which the Spirit did not give you, nor a solitary virtue which He did not work in you.

Scripture saith, Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The devil doth not flee from a quality resident in our nature, but from Christ in us, from the Spirit of holiness who dwells within and who glorifies Christ. Of the Holy Spirit it is written, He shall glorify Me. Where Christ is exalted, where the heart is cleansed and kept by the Spirit, there Satan finds no footing.

Therefore we do not pray that God would bestow upon you some indescribable thing as an inseparable attribute to be owned in yourself, for that would lead you to put confidence in the mere strength of nature instead of relying upon the might of God the Holy Spirit alone. Rather we pray that the Lord would put His Spirit within you according to His covenant promise, I will put My Spirit within you, that you may be sealed thereby, sanctified thereby, and kept thereby.

We pray thus for you, that the Lord Jesus Christ would be your salvation, for there is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved, and that the Holy Spirit would be given to you as a sanctifying Spirit, to purge you from sin, to teach you, to make you to pine after holiness and to pant after conformity to God. May He enable you to pray in the Holy Spirit and through the Holy Spirit, in His power and not in your own, and may He keep you from grieving Him by unbelief, by bitterness, wrath, anger, evil speaking or malice, for He is grieved by whatsoever falls short of His own holy nature.

May the Lord grant you not a transient visitation to be claimed as your own, but a continual abiding in Christ, walking in the Spirit, so that as you walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh, you may prove in daily obedience that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. And when you are tempted, may you look first to the Holy Spirit, trusting not in resolutions but in His might, that resisting the devil in the name and power of Jesus, you may see him flee.

We ask the Father to work this in you for the glory of His Son, by the power of His Holy Spirit, according to His sovereign will. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord Jesus Christ. The desire you express, to have something within you that causes the evil one to flee when he draws near, is a good and holy desire, and God is pleased when His children ask to be made more like Christ.

What you sensed in your former friend and could not name is not a hidden power or a mysterious force. Scripture shows us what it is. It is Christ Himself dwelling in a person through faith, and the new life that comes with it, created in righteousness and holiness of truth. It is the life of one who has yielded his members as servants to righteousness unto holiness, who follows peace with all and lives in purity and sobriety and humility. Where Christ is present through such a life, the devil does not remain, for he has already been taken captive and spoiled by the cross and resurrection. Where there is self denial and sobriety and prayer, Christ is there. Where there is uncleanness and iniquity, the enemy finds a place.

The devil cannot injure you against your will when you are willing to stand with God. Even Job shows that the most wicked adversary can become an occasion for a crown when a person submits to God and resists him. So we do not ask for a vague quality to be added to you as if by magic, but we ask for what God has already promised to all who are in Christ, that you would be strengthened to abide in Him, to be dead to sin and alive to righteousness, to walk in faith and draw upon His grace. For where grace is, there is forgiveness and righteousness, and where righteousness reigns, the promise is made sure.

Therefore we pray for you according to the sovereign will of God.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that by His obedience unto death and His ascent on high He led captivity captive and triumphed over sin and death and the devil. We ask in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that You would create anew in this Your child a heart in righteousness and holiness of truth. Grant repentance where needed, faith to receive Your grace, and power to yield every member as a servant to righteousness. Make Christ's presence so real within that the evil one flees, as it is written that if we submit to God and resist the devil he will flee. Establish this not as a fleeting feeling but as the fruit of abiding in Christ, kept by Your Spirit through a life of prayer, sobriety, humility and obedience. Keep this one in Your will and conform him more and more to Your Son, until holiness becomes the settled pattern of his life. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily, to turn from all uncleanness and iniquity, and to give yourself wholly to Him. That is the path by which He makes holiness an inseparable part of our being, not for a moment only but for a lifetime.

Thank you for sharing this honest request and for wanting to walk in victory over the enemy. I understand the desire you describe, to have something in your life that causes the enemy to turn away, and I want to point you to what Scripture actually teaches about how that happens.

The Bible does not teach that victory comes from a mysterious quality that can be transferred from one person to another and then remain as a permanent possession that automatically repels the devil by its mere presence. What Scripture does teach is relational and ongoing. James says to submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. Peter adds that we are to resist him steadfast in the faith. The fleeing of the enemy is connected to submission and resistance, not to an aura we own in ourselves.

That means there are steps to walk in. First, recognize the work of the enemy when temptation or accusation comes. Second, resist him, not in your own strength but by standing in faith and in obedience to God, turning away from evil and choosing what is good. Third, rejoice in the victory that is already ours in Jesus Christ, who was manifested to destroy the works of the devil and who has delivered us from both the penalty and the power of sin. Even when Jesus was tempted, the enemy departed for a season, which reminds us that we are to remain continually submitted and watchful, living in dependence on the Holy Spirit.

Holiness in this sense is not an outward appearance or a feeling that we carry like an object. It comes from the heart, from a deep desire for God and a consciousness of His presence with you, and from a fear of the Lord that learns to hate evil and love what is good. The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers, but His face is against those who do evil. So the path to seeing good days is to keep your tongue from evil, turn from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it, and give earnest heed to the words of Jesus so you do not drift.

My prayer for you is not that God would give you an indefinable something from another person, but that He would draw you into deeper fellowship with Himself through Jesus Christ. I pray that He would help you to submit yourself fully to Him each day, to hate what He hates and love what He loves, to recognize temptation quickly and to resist the enemy steadfastly in faith, and to rejoice in the complete victory Christ has already won for you. May the God of peace who brought our Lord Jesus from the dead make you mature and complete in every good work to do His will, and may you know His presence so clearly that your heart is kept from evil.

If you have not already, bring every area of your life under the lordship of Christ, confess sin honestly, feed daily on His Word, and walk in obedience. That is the biblical way the enemy flees, as you remain submitted to God and resisting in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
