Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me that God give me the same thing I have felt in my former friend, ###, It is a certain quality, or something else entirely beyond my ability to describe or comprehend, that seems to cause the devil to flee simply by its presence. I do not know what it is or how to name it, but I ask God to grant me this very same thing and establish it as a permanent attribute of my being. so that the devil flees whenever he draws near. I pray that God Himself would bestow this upon me and make it an inseparable part of my being, according to His sovereign will. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

We join with you in bringing this deep longing before the throne of grace in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we thank you for seeking God so earnestly for His deliverance and presence in your life.

We understand what you are describing, that sense of a holy quality in your former friend that seemed to cause the enemy to flee simply by its presence, something beyond words and beyond human ability to produce. What you discerned is very real, but we want to gently help you understand it biblically so your prayer is aligned with how God actually works. The devil does not flee from a mystical attribute or an impersonal quality that can be transferred from one person to another as if it were a possession. He flees from Christ Himself dwelling within a person through the Holy Spirit, and from a life that is submitted to God in obedience, faith, and holiness.

Scripture makes this clear when it says James 4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And also 1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. It is not our own strength or a special aura that repels the enemy, but the presence of Jesus Christ living in us. When we abide in Him, walk in His Word, and are filled with His Spirit, the enemy cannot remain.

This presence comes not by asking for an unnamed experience alone, but by pursuing God Himself, by surrendering fully to Him, by being transformed into the image of Christ. As it is written 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit. And Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. The armor, the fruit of the Spirit described in Galatians 5:22-23, a life of prayer, purity, and obedience, these are what make the enemy flee, because they are evidence that Christ reigns in us.

So we do not pray simply for a feeling or an indescribable quality to be made a permanent part of you apart from Christ, we pray that God Himself would fill you, cleanse you, and dwell richly in you, and that Christ would be formed in you so fully that the enemy must flee as he did in the presence of your friend, all according to His sovereign will.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we lift up this dear one who hungers for Your presence and for victory over the evil one. Lord, You know the longing of this heart, the desire to walk in such holiness and power that the devil flees at Your presence within. We ask that You grant not merely an experience, but Yourself. Fill this life with Your Holy Spirit, establish Christ as Lord over every thought, word, and deed, and transform this one from glory to glory into the image of Your Son. Teach us to be subject to You in all things, to resist the devil in faith, clothed in Your armor, standing on Your Word, and walking in love, purity, and truth. Make this one a temple of Your Holy Spirit, cleansed by the blood of Jesus, rooted in Your Word, steadfast in prayer, and bearing the fruit of Your Spirit, so that wherever he goes, Your light and authority go with him. We ask this according to Your perfect and sovereign will, not for our glory but for Yours, that Jesus Christ may be magnified and the enemy defeated. Keep this dear one close to You, guard him from deception and from seeking any counterfeit, and draw him ever deeper into fellowship with You. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord Himself daily through His Word, through prayer, through obedience and fellowship with other believers who walk faithfully with Christ. Do not chase a feeling or compare yourself to another person, but chase Christ. As you abide in Him and He abides in you, as it says in John 15:7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you, you will find that the very presence you longed for in another will be growing in you, because it is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

We hear the deep longing in your prayer to live close to God and to know real protection when evil feels near. It makes sense that sensing that strength in your friend would leave you wanting the same steadiness for yourself.

One thing we have learned over time is that the safety we find in Christ is less like a permanent quality we receive once and carry on our own, and more like staying close to Him day by day. It is not something transferred from one person to another, but His own presence with us as we walk with Him. That walk grows slowly, like training over time, through simple faithful practices and through community with other believers, rather than in a single moment that settles everything at once.

If it would help, a gentle next step could be to share this desire with a trusted pastor or mature believer you know, and to keep leaning into the ordinary ways God draws near to us, consistent time in prayer, reading Scripture, and gathering with His people. Those steady habits often become the place where fear lessens and confidence in Christ grows.

Father, we bring our brother before You and thank You that You hear his heart. We ask You to draw near to him, to give him wisdom and peace, and to establish him more deeply in Christ according to Your good and sovereign will. Keep him in Your care and help him know the nearness of Jesus each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Mark 16:20
"And they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked through them, confirming His word by the signs that accompanied it."

Your heart has poured out a desire which the Lord understands better than you can utter it, and He hears the sigh when words fail. You speak of a certain quality in another which seemed to make the adversary flee, and you ask that the same may be wrought in you as a settled and inseparable part of your being.

Let me speak plainly concerning what this is. What you perceived was not some nameless charm or hidden power that works of itself. Morality may clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but holiness is having a clean inside. True holiness deals with the thoughts and intents, the purposes and motives, and sets the heart upon God to beat with love to Him. It is practical, personal, active, vital holiness, the opposite of uncleanness, for God has not called us unto uncleanness but unto holiness. Without such holiness no one shall see the Lord. The liberty of a child of God is not liberty to do as he pleases, but liberty to walk in holiness without hindrance, to run in the statutes of the Lord.

The devil does not flee from a vague attribute resident in a man. He is a malicious and cowardly foe who hits a man when he is down, and none but he could persuade you that God has forsaken you. He flees when he meets Christ. Deliverance from sin and from Satan is solely by the power of God. He has found a ransom. The Lamb was slain, and by that atoning death the law is glorified and the prisoner is delivered from going down to the pit. It is not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He brings forth His people, and He does it effectually.

Therefore the Scripture says, Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. When the tempter comes and says your Father has forgotten you, tell him to begone. Say, Get thee gone, Satan, for you know too much of your Father to believe that. It is faith in the blood, it is a heart submitted and made holy by the Spirit, it is Christ dwelling within, that the adversary cannot endure.

Do not seek then an impersonal thing made permanent in you apart from Christ, but seek Christ Himself to dwell in you, and seek that holiness which is conformity to the will and character of God and separation from the world. Perfection is not attained in this life, for no one who knows his own heart pretends to be perfectly conformed to God's will, but where grace has truly changed a man he is radically and lastingly changed. The promise is, they shall not depart from me. He who has begun a good work will keep you in holiness and make you to persevere in it.

We will pray for you as you have asked, according to His sovereign will.

O Lord our God, look upon this seeking soul. Thou hast not called us to uncleanness but to holiness. Create in this thy servant a clean heart and renew a right spirit within. Let Christ be formed within by faith, and let the Holy Spirit make his heart holy, setting it wholly upon Thee. Thou hast found a ransom, Thou hast shed the blood of Thy Son. By that blood deliver him from the power of the devil, and teach him to resist the adversary steadfast in faith. Keep him, we beseech Thee, and cause him to persevere in holiness, not by his own strength but by Thy power which alone can bring forth from the pit. Make obedience his freedom and Thy presence his guard, that whether the enemy draws near or stands afar off, he may find Thy servant abiding in Christ and walking in Thy ways. Grant this for Jesus sake, in whose name we ask it. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request has been heard and we join with you in prayer to God for deliverance from the evil one and for strength to stand against him.

The desire that the devil would flee when he draws near is a good and right desire, and Scripture teaches us how this happens. It is not by a nameless quality passed from one person to another, or by something that becomes a permanent possession of its own. The devil flees not because of a power that belongs to any human being in himself, but because Christ is strong and the devil is weak. Christ descended even to death for our sake and ascended on high, leading captivity captive, taking the tyrant captive, with his spoils and trophies. He bound the strong one, and therefore the strong one can be cast out. When we belong to Christ, it is His power present with us that causes the enemy to flee.

Scripture says, submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. That resistance is not a mystical attribute but a life of faith, humility, obedience and grace. Where grace is, there is forgiveness, and where forgiveness is, punishment is removed, and we are made heirs of the promise through faith in Jesus Christ alone. God delivers us not only from outward danger but from every evil work, when we strive against sin and do not yield, when we walk in self denial and sobriety where Christ is present, and when we honor the Father through the Son with lowliness as Christ Himself became obedient even unto death.

So we will not pray that a vague experience you felt in another person would be transferred to you as an inseparable part of your being. Instead we pray that God would give you what is truly needed and what He has promised to give to all who trust in Christ.

Let us pray together:

Father in heaven, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we come to You according to Your sovereign will. We ask that You would draw this one to Yourself through faith in Your Son, forgive sins by Your grace, and fill this heart with Your Holy Spirit. Grant humility, obedience, and a living faith that abides in Christ, so that in submission to You there may be true resistance to the evil one. Establish this one in Christ, keep this one from every evil work, and make this one steadfast to the end, not by any power of our own, but by the victory of Christ who has led captivity captive. Teach this one to walk in holiness, in sobriety and self denial, where You are present, and to look always to Jesus, through whom alone is salvation. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
