Kuydoreth

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me that God give me the same thing I have felt in my former friend, ###. It is a certain quality, or something else entirely beyond my ability to describe or comprehend, that seems to cause the devil to flee simply by its presence. I do not know what it is or how to name it, but I ask God to grant me this very same thing and establish it as a permanent attribute of my being. so that the devil flees whenever he draws near. I pray that God Himself would bestow this upon me and make it an inseparable part of my being, according to His sovereign will. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

We have heard your request and we join with you in seeking the Lord together in Jesus' name for this deep longing you have expressed.

We understand what you are describing, that you sensed in your former friend a certain presence or quality that seemed to cause the enemy to flee, something holy and powerful that you could not name or comprehend, and now you desire God Himself to establish that same reality permanently within you. We commend you for recognizing that only God can bestow such a thing and for asking according to His sovereign will and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We want to gently bring biblical clarity to what you experienced, because Scripture does not teach that this is a mystical attribute or impersonal force that can be transferred from one person to another. What causes the devil to flee is not a quality in itself, but the presence and power of Christ dwelling in a person who is submitted to God. The Word tells us, Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. And, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4.

What you sensed was likely the fruit of the Holy Spirit, the holiness, faith, and abiding in Christ that was at work in your friend. It is not to be sought as an experience from another person, but to be sought directly from God through union with Jesus Christ. We cannot receive an anointing apart from relationship with Him, for the Scripture warns that those who tried to use spiritual power without belonging to Christ had no authority at all. Acts 19:13-16. God does not give us a separate thing, He gives us Himself, His Spirit to dwell in us when we belong to Christ. Because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts. Galatians 4:6. If anyone doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his. Romans 8:9.

Therefore we encourage you not to seek the feeling or the manifestation you felt in another, but to seek Christ Himself, to abide in Him daily. As we behold Him and walk in obedience, we are transformed. But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18. The enemy flees not because of an aura we possess, but because we are clothed in Christ, standing in His righteousness, armed with His truth and Word. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear one before Your throne of grace. You know the hunger of this heart to be established, to be made strong against the evil one, and to have a life from which darkness must flee. We ask that You would fill this life anew with Your Holy Spirit, that Christ would dwell richly within through faith. Grant a deep abiding in Jesus, a life of submission to You, of holiness, of love for Your Word and prayer, of bearing the fruit of the Spirit in ever increasing measure. Galatians 5:22-23. Establish this one permanently in Christ, rooted and built up in Him, so that when the enemy draws near he finds no place, but finds only the light and authority of Jesus. Make this life a vessel of Your presence not for a moment but as an inseparable part of being, according to Your sovereign will and for Your glory. Teach us to resist the devil by submitting to You first, and to walk in the victory that is already ours in Christ. We ask this in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, our only hope and our deliverer, Amen.

We are thankful you shared this longing so honestly. Wanting to feel safe and steady when you sense spiritual opposition nearby is understandable, and it makes sense you would remember something you experienced through your former friend and wish to have that same settled strength yourself.

What we have often seen is that the quiet steadiness you describe is not usually something God drops into us in one moment to keep permanently on our own. It grows more like training over time, little by little, as we stay close to Christ in ordinary faithfulness, spending time with Him in prayer, staying in Scripture, walking in fellowship with other believers, and turning to Him quickly when we need grace. It is less about gaining a separate quality and more about abiding with Christ Himself, who is our security.

If it would help, you might share this desire with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you, and invite them to walk with you in those simple rhythms. You do not have to carry this burden alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask You to draw near and make Your presence real to him. Give him peace, wisdom and a growing confidence in Your care. Form his life day by day to stay close to Christ and to walk in Your will. Keep him in Your hands and guard his steps. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Your prayer expresses a deep and right desire to see Satan put to flight when he draws near, and we join with you in asking the Lord to grant you true deliverance according to His sovereign will.

What you felt in the presence of your former friend was not, we believe, some nameless power that can be transferred as a thing in itself, but the evidence of a greater reality. Scripture tells us to submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The devil does not flee from a quality apart from Christ, but from Christ Himself dwelling in the believer by the Holy Spirit.

Hear what the Word declares, He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. To escape from Satan himself is a work only Divine Grace can accomplish. No man by nature can break the power of that master spirit who is called Diabolus, the destroyer, but God has both invented and provided the way of escape. He is gracious and says, Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom. That ransom is not a feeling or an attribute sought for its own sake, but the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ, who by His death upon the cross gave the deathblow to the devil's usurpation.

It was the mighty power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in Christ by which Jesus overcame the world, and that same quiet power, if it dwells in us, will make us win the same victory by faith. The victory of our Lord Jesus Christ is sure, because it results from Christ's own work and is guaranteed by the Father's promise. Therefore we do not seek that God would make some indescribable thing an inseparable part of our being apart from Him, but that we might have Christ Himself abiding in us, for apart from Him we can do nothing.

If you would know this constant protection, store your mind with the knowledge and glory of the Lord Jesus. Seek to know Him, to trust His ransom, to walk in submission and faith and holiness. It is as we abide in Him, confessing sin, pleading His blood, and living in obedience, that Satan finds no place. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and He will accomplish it in those who are His.

We will pray for you.

Our gracious Father, we thank You that You have found a ransom and that You have delivered Your people from the power of darkness. We ask for this soul who longs for victory over the adversary, that You would grant not a vague experience, but Christ formed within, the indwelling of Your Holy Spirit, and faith to rest wholly upon the finished work of Your Son. Teach this one to submit to You, to resist the devil in the name of Jesus, and to walk in the light of Your Word. Keep this one from going down to the pit, and translate daily more fully into the kingdom of Your dear Son, that having the victory which Christ has already won, this life may declare the works of the Lord. We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
