Kuydoreth

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me that God give me the same thing I have felt in my former friend, ###. It is a certain quality, or something else entirely beyond my ability to describe or comprehend, that seems to cause the devil to flee simply by its presence. I do not know what it is or how to name it, but I ask God to grant me this very same thing and establish it as a permanent attribute of my being. so that the devil flees whenever he draws near. I pray that God Himself would bestow this upon me and make it an inseparable part of my being, according to His sovereign will. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

We join with you in this prayer and we hear the deep longing of your heart for that holy presence and authority you sensed in your former friend , that quality that causes the enemy to flee.

We understand you cannot fully describe or comprehend what it is, but we believe you are discerning something very real and very biblical. Scripture does not teach that this is a mysterious transferable quality from one person to another, but that it is the presence and power of Jesus Christ Himself dwelling in a life that is fully submitted to God. The devil does not flee from a human attribute or a personality trait, he flees from Christ in us.

The Word tells us, Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. And, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4. What you saw in your friend was likely the fruit of abiding in Christ, of holiness, purity, humility, faith and obedience that allows the Holy Spirit to rest powerfully upon a life. It is not something we can manufacture or borrow from another person, it is something God Himself builds in us as we walk closely with Him.

We want to gently encourage you not to seek the gift apart from the Giver. We are not to seek to become like another person, but to become like Christ. When we seek God Himself with all our heart, He promises to fill us. The Father delights to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. Luke 11:13. And God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7.

We also remember the account in Acts 19:13-16 where others tried to use the name of Jesus as a formula without a true surrendered relationship with Him, and they had no authority. Authority over the enemy comes only through a genuine, abiding relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, through repentance, faith, and daily obedience to His Word.

So we pray for you now according to God's sovereign will and His Word.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You that You have heard this prayer and that You know exactly what this quality is that they are seeking, even when words fail. We ask that You would grant what is truly needed, not merely an experience, but Yourself. Fill this life anew with Your Holy Spirit and make Your presence an inseparable and permanent part of their being. Establish in them a heart fully submitted to You, cleansed by the blood of Jesus, rooted in Your Word, and clothed in Your armor, so that when the enemy draws near he must flee because You dwell there. Ephesians 6:10-11. We pray that You would make them strong in You, pure in heart, steadfast in faith, and that You would cause them to abide in Christ daily so that the greater One who is in them overcomes all darkness. We ask that You would conform them more and more to the image of Your Son and let the peace, holiness, and authority of Christ be evident in their life. We trust Your sovereign will to bestow what is good and perfect and to establish it firmly. In the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to draw near to God through prayer, through reading and obeying Scripture, through fellowship with other believers, and through walking in repentance and holiness. As you draw near to God, He will draw near to you. James 4:8. Seek Him first, and He will establish in you all that you need to stand firm and to have the enemy flee at the presence of Christ in you.

We hear the deep longing in your prayer to be close to God and to know His protection when you feel spiritually vulnerable. It makes sense you would notice something steady and Christlike in your friend and want that same steadiness for yourself. That kind of quiet strength is usually not a single hidden quality given all at once, but the fruit of walking with the Holy Spirit over time as He shapes our character, our truthfulness, and our dependence on Christ.

What you saw in your friend was likely the Holy Spirit at work in him making him more like Jesus, and God does that same forming work in each of us, but more as a process than as an instant permanent possession. It grows as we stay connected to Him.

One simple next step that may help is to stay rooted in the ordinary means God uses, regular prayer, spending time in Scripture, and fellowship with other believers who can pray with you and walk alongside you. If you have a trusted pastor, sharing this longing with him in person can also give you encouragement and accountability.

Father, we bring our brother before You and thank You that he wants to be Yours more fully. We ask that You draw him close, fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and make him more like Jesus in love and holiness. Guard him from the enemy, give him wisdom and peace, and lead him step by step according to Your sovereign will. We trust him to Your care. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request has been brought before the Lord and it reveals a sincere desire to be kept from the power of the evil one, and for this I thank God.

You speak of a certain quality which you perceived in another, which seemed to cause the devil to flee by its mere presence, and you ask that this same thing might be made a permanent and inseparable attribute of your own being. I must speak to you plainly and in love concerning this, lest you seek a wrong thing in a wrong way.

The Scriptures do not teach that Satan flees from any inherent quality in man, as though holiness were a charm abiding in our nature apart from daily grace. Our deliverance is by Divine power. When Israel came out of Egypt it was Jehovah who brought forth His people, and when any soul is saved from spiritual bondage it is the Lord Jesus who loosens the captive. Satan's power is broken not by something we possess in ourselves, but by what Christ has done. The seed of the woman has bruised the serpent's head, and forever and ever boundless honors shall be given to Christ for His victory over every force of evil. That victory is sure, because it is a Divine promise guaranteed by the Father, and it will certainly be achieved by the Son.

For this reason the Word says, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. He flees not because you have become in yourself a terror to him, but because you are submitted to God, clothed in the righteousness of Christ, and armed with the Word and the Spirit. Satan considers the saints and watches for his advantage, and he shoots his fiery darts where sin has been, yet he must depart when he is met by faith in the blood of the Lamb and the power of the Holy Ghost. He is not everywhere, and he cannot stand where Christ is enthroned in the heart by faith.

Do not seek to have some indescribable influence transferred from another person to yourself as a permanent possession. Seek Christ Himself. Seek to abide in Him, to walk in the light, to be filled with the Spirit, to dwell in the Word, and to live a life of watchful prayer. The Christian's experience is very variable, and even the saint who rejoices in the sunlight of Divine love may yet know clouds and storms. Our safety is not in an attribute once given and never needing renewal, but in daily fellowship with Jesus, wrought in us by the Spirit, which is a well of salvation.

I will pray for you as the Scripture directs, not that a mystical quality might be made inseparable from your nature, but that you may be kept close to the Saviour.

Our prayer is that the Lord Jesus Christ, who has gotten the victory over Satan, would keep you abiding in Himself, that you may be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, putting on the whole armour of God. We ask that He would teach you to submit yourself wholly to God, to resist the devil steadfast in the faith, to overcome his suggestions by the Word of truth, and to walk in holiness and humility, so that whether Satan assails you with accusation or temptation, you may find present deliverance through Christ alone. May the Lord establish you in faith, guard you by Divine power, and cause you to rejoice not in any power of your own, but that your name is written in heaven and you are Christ's and Christ is yours. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with care. We understand the deep desire behind your words, to know the presence and protection of God so fully that evil has no place near you, and to walk in a way that is pleasing to Him.

Scripture does not teach that deliverance from the evil one comes from a mysterious quality that can be transferred from one person to another or possessed as an automatic, permanent power in itself. What you may have sensed in your former friend was not a thing apart from Christ, but the fruit of a life yielded to Christ. The apostle teaches that we are to yield our members as servants to righteousness unto holiness, and that holiness with righteousness of truth comes through being made new in Christ, clothed with Christ, and sealed with the Spirit of adoption. It is in that relationship, abiding in Him by faith, that we find confidence and protection.

The same Scriptures show that God does deliver His people from the lion, and that the greater deliverance is from every evil work, so that we are enabled to resist sin and to stand firm when the devil seeks to draw near. The promise is not that the devil flees because of something in us by itself, but that when we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil in faith, he will flee, because Christ Himself has overcome him and His power works in us.

So we will not pray that God would place an impersonal power into you apart from Himself, but we do pray according to His sovereign will that He would draw you closer to Himself and establish you more firmly in Christ.

We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ would deepen your faith, strengthen you to walk in righteousness and true holiness, and fill you with His Holy Spirit, that you may be kept from every evil work and grow in confidence before Him. We pray that He would help you to serve righteousness as fully as you once served sin, to live in purity and obedience, and to abide in Him daily through His Word, prayer, and fellowship with His people. We ask that as you submit to God and resist the enemy in the name of Jesus, you would know His deliverance and His peace, not by a quality of your own, but by His presence and power at work in you.

We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation and our deliverance, trusting in the Father's wise and sovereign will to give what is best for your holiness and His glory. Amen.
