A Troubled Prayer
For Christ’s Sake
Slaughter of Young Men
We hear your cry for help and we join with you in prayer before our Lord Jesus, thanking Him that you have called upon His name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find comfort, forgiveness, and supply for every need.

We are encouraged by your desire for His presence, a clean heart, and His help in your work. The Scripture assures us that God sees every difficulty and cares deeply for you. He says, Fear you not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. And Jesus invites us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28.

We also hear your longing to be healthy every moment, for all your work to go well all the time, and for your debts and guilt to be forgiven. We pray with you for these things, and we also gently remind you from Scripture that while God promises to richly supply every need and to be our comfort, He does not promise a life without any illness or that every task will always go smoothly in our eyes. Instead He promises His presence in trial, His strength for the work, and that He works all things together for good for those who love Him. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. And we know that Beloved, we pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers 3 John 1:2, yet our greatest health and prosperity is that of the soul made clean before Him.

Your request for forgiveness and a clean heart and body is precious to God. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We rejoice that through Jesus shed blood we can be washed and made new, Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me Psalm 51:10. When we bring our guilt and debts to Him in repentance and faith, He forgives and cleanses us completely.

We also lift up your difficult work to the Lord. We pray that He would give you wisdom, endurance, and skill, and that whatever you do, you may do it heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. May He guide your hands and give you peace even when the work is hard.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We thank You that this dear one has called upon Jesus. We ask that You draw near and comfort them, that they would feel Your presence with them every day and every moment. Lord, supply all their needs according to Your riches in glory, provide for their daily bread, their work, and their health. Touch their body, Lord, grant healing and strength according to Your will, and sustain them in weakness and in health alike. Forgive all their sins and debts as they confess them to You, wash away guilt, and create in them a clean heart and a pure life. Help them in all their difficult work, give them wisdom and diligence, and let their labor be fruitful for Your glory. Teach them to rest in You and to trust Your perfect will, even when things do not go as they hope, knowing You are with them always. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for sharing this honest prayer with us. We hear how many things are weighing on you at once, the desire for comfort and health, for provision, for help with difficult work, and for a clean heart before the Lord. Bringing all of that to Jesus together is exactly the right place to come.

We join you in asking Him to be near to you each day and to give you peace as you walk through these pressures. When work feels difficult and you long for everything to go well, it can help to bring the day to Him piece by piece. We have found it helpful to take a few quiet minutes in the morning to name the specific tasks ahead and ask for His wisdom and strength for each one, and then to thank Him at the end of the day for how He carried you, even in small ways.

We also hear your longing to be forgiven and made clean. If guilt or debts are weighing on you, it can bring relief to talk openly with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can pray with you personally and help you take wise next steps.

We pray for you now. Father, we thank You that our brother can come to You through Jesus. Draw close and comfort him, supply what he needs, strengthen his body, and give him clarity and steadiness in his work. Forgive his sins, cleanse his heart, and help him to walk in Your grace day by day. Lead him and give him peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been heard and I take it up with you before the throne of grace, that the Lord Jesus Himself would be near to you to comfort you and to supply your need.

You have asked for many things at once, for health, for help in difficult work, for forgiveness of debts and guilt, and for a clean heart and body. Let me point you to the order in which Christ gives His blessings, for it is full of wisdom and mercy. When the palsied man was laid before Him, the Master said first, Your sins are forgiven you, and only afterwards did He bid him rise and walk. First forgiveness, then healing. So I pray first for your soul, that you may know beyond all doubt that there is forgiveness with God, through Jesus Christ His Son.

There is forgiveness, and that word stands in all its glorious fullness with no abridging or qualifying word. It is not forgiveness for this sin or for that, but forgiveness. It is a divine forgiveness, for He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a complete forgiveness, as when a creditor says to one who has nothing to pay, all is forgiven. It is an eternal forgiveness, for Christ has finished transgression and made an end of sins and made reconciliation for iniquity, and has brought in everlasting righteousness. Do as Martin Luther did when in dark distress, believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself. Cast yourself at His feet, quoting the name of His dear Son, and rest there, for the work is done. For Christ's sake God has forgiven you, and He continues daily to forgive.

And because there is forgiveness, there is also healing. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, but even His leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. I pray that the Lord who heals the soul will be pleased also to lay His healing hand upon your body, to keep you and strengthen you day by day and moment by moment according to His wise and loving will. He knows your frame and your infirmities, and His power to save and to restore can work in a moment.

You ask also that He would richly supply all your needs and assist you in your work. He is the God who blesses the work of our hands, and while we rest in Him we may still bear fruit unto Him. I pray that He would give you wisdom and steadiness in all your difficult labor, that He would order your steps and prosper what is given you to do, and that you may find your all in God even when the work is hard. May He keep you in purity, watching over every thought and word and action, and make your heart and body clean by the washing of His Spirit and the blood of His Son.

Let us pray together. O Lord Jesus Christ, look upon this seeking soul. Speak the word of forgiveness to the conscience burdened with guilt, and let it be known that sin is pardoned for Your name's sake. Cleanse the heart and make the body Your temple. Be near to comfort, be rich to supply every need, be strong to help in every difficult task. Grant health as it pleases You, and grant grace at all times to trust Your goodness. Keep this one walking in charity and purity before You, and let all things be done to Your praise. In Your own blessed name we ask it, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord Jesus.

We pray that the Lord will be near to you and give you comfort, that He will supply what you need each day and grant you health of both body and soul. Scripture shows us that when Christ healed, He made whole, and He still has power to restore. We ask Him to strengthen your body, to give you sound health for His service, and to help you to care for your body in a way that honors Him, seeking health in order to live faithfully rather than for excess or ease.

We also pray with you for forgiveness and cleansing. Through Jesus Christ alone we have forgiveness of sins and a clean heart, for He bore our guilt and washes those who trust in Him. If you confess your sins to Him, He is faithful to forgive and to make your heart and body clean and to renew you to walk in His ways.

For your work, we ask God to give you wisdom, endurance and diligence, and that He would establish the work of your hands. Whatever you do, do it as service to the Lord, trusting Him for the outcome and resting in His provision whether the days are easy or difficult. He sees your labor and knows your needs.

May the Lord grant you peace in every moment, sustain you in difficulty, forgive your debts before Him, cleanse you fully in Christ, and guide your steps day by day. We continue to pray for you in the name of Jesus, our only Savior and Lord, amen.

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for asking for prayer. Your requests for comfort, for daily health, for help in difficult work, for forgiveness and a clean heart and body are deeply human, and God hears each of them.

Scripture teaches that your greatest need, and the need of every person, is the forgiveness of sins. That is the inward work of the Holy Spirit that no one else can see, but God sees the heart. There is only one provision God has made for that forgiveness, and it is through His Son Jesus Christ. When He went to the cross, His work of redemption was finished completely. There is nothing you can do to earn it. You are saved by grace through faith, faith that God Himself gives as He draws you to Himself. When you simply trust in what Jesus has done, God counts you righteous and washes away both guilt and debt. That settled relationship with Him is primary, and everything else rests upon it.

At the same time God does care about your body and your daily needs. Under the old law, even though leprosy had no human cure, God still made a way for the leper to be cleansed when God acted in a miraculous way. The gospel shows the same heart. When Matthew writes about Jesus healing Peter's mother in law and many others who were brought to Him in the evening, he connects it to the prophecy of Isaiah that He bore our sicknesses. The bread of communion reminds us that His body was broken for you. That broadens what He carried to include physical healing as well as forgiveness, not limiting it to spiritual healing alone. He has power over sickness, over the material world, and over spiritual powers, and He still heals. Sometimes He works in response to faith, and sometimes He works in His sovereignty even apart from our faith.

He also promises to supply what you need and to comfort you, but His way of working in you is often a refining work. He first works in you before He works through you, and that shaping can feel painful as He removes what does not belong. Scripture therefore encourages us to count it joy when we go through hard testing, because God is preparing us for the work He has for us to do. Your hands doing His work and your feet walking in His path flow out of first being cleansed and consecrated to Him, with your ear open to His voice.

So I join you in prayer that you will rest in the finished work of Jesus on the cross rather than in your own efforts, that you will know with assurance that your sins are forgiven through Him, that you will experience His comfort and His rich provision for your daily needs, and that He will touch your body and bring health according to His gracious will. I also pray that He will give you strength and wisdom for the difficult tasks before you, and that He will cause your work to bear fruit for His glory, shaping your heart and life more like Christ each day.

May the Lord grant you peace as you trust Him, cleansing your heart, renewing your body, and guiding your work. In the name of Jesus, amen.
