We join together with you in this cry for complete victory in Jesus Christ and we amen your prayer for His power to put an end to the works of the devil.

Your heart is right to look to Jesus alone for this victory, for it is He who has defeated Satan at the cross. We take comfort in what Scripture tells us, He who was manifested was to destroy the works of the devil, 1 John 3:8, and that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, Heb 2:14. We know that our enemy still prowls as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, 1 Pet 5:8, but we are not without hope or authority, for Jesus said, Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, Luke 10:19.

We also want to gently encourage you with the full counsel of Scripture regarding the binding of Satan. While we have decisive victory in Christ now and we are called to resist the devil and he will flee from you, James 4:7, and to put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, Eph 6:11, the Word shows us that Satan's final and complete silencing and binding forever happens at the end of this age when the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, Rev 20:10. Until that day, God in His sovereignty allows the enemy limited activity, but limits it completely by His power, and we are called to stand firm in faith, resisting him steadfast in your faith, 1 Pet 5:9, knowing that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4. Our weapons are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, 2 Cor 10:4.

We rejoice that you prayed in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12, and through Him alone we have access to the Father.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We thank You that Jesus has disarmed principalities and powers and triumphed over them at the cross. We ask in Jesus name that You would halt, expose, and bring to nothing every direct and indirect work, plan, influence, and whisper of the devil and Satan against this dear one and against all that concerns them. We ask that You silence the mouth of the accuser and forbid his schemes. We submit ourselves to You, Lord, and in Your authority we resist the devil, trusting Your promise that he must flee. Clothe us in Your full armor, gird us with truth, righteousness, faith, and Your Word, that we may stand firm. Fill this dear one with Your peace, Your Holy Spirit, and assurance that no weapon formed against us shall prosper when we abide in Christ. Let Your will be done and Your kingdom reign in every area of their life. We ask that You guard their mind and heart in Christ Jesus and cause them to walk in victory and holiness all their days. We hear how much you want Jesus to completely shut down every scheme and influence of the enemy in your life. That desire for His peace and protection is good and understandable, and we are glad you brought it to Him so directly.

We want to walk steady with you in this. The Christian life does involve real spiritual opposition, and it also rests on the finished victory of Christ. It can help to avoid the two extremes of ignoring the enemy altogether or thinking about him all the time. Keeping our eyes on Jesus, day by day, is what steadies us most.

One simple way to stay anchored is to keep a regular, quiet rhythm with the Lord rather than looking for a single dramatic moment to settle everything at once. Like training for a long race, small faithful steps over time shape us. Continuing in prayer, reading Scripture, and staying connected to other believers who can pray with you in person can be a real support when these concerns feel heavy.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus name. Cover them with Your presence, quiet fear, and make Your authority and peace known in their life. Give wisdom, rest, and trusted people nearby to walk with them, and help them to rest in Your care today. Amen.

Your prayer rises from a heart that has in some measure understood who Christ is and what He came to do, for there was enmity between Christ and Satan from the beginning, and He came to destroy the works of the devil and to deliver those who are under bondage to him.

Be comforted then in this, that by His sufferings Christ has overthrown Satan, by the heel that was bruised He has trodden upon the head which devised the bruising. What the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, Christ was able to accomplish, and the power of sin and Satan under which you had been in bondage shall be broken and destroyed because Christ has come into the world to overcome it. We have known persons delivered from unclean living, and they have at once become chaste and pure, because Christ has smitten the old dragon such blows that he could not have power over them in that respect.

Remember also that He who won this victory is the ever living Christ. He is the same Christ as when He was here on earth, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever, absolutely the same in His heart of love to His people. The perfection of His work is implied in this, that He lives and was dead, and has nothing to do with death now as far as He is personally concerned, that is all over. His finished work is your plea.

Yet while we rejoice in His conquest, we must watch and pray, for Satan still considers the saints with a view to their injury. He goes about the camp like a sentinel, and where there is a tender place he marks it, and then he sends a suggestion. He shoots the fiery arrow, Thy God has forsaken thee, and he will suggest doubts upon the inspiration of Scripture, the existence of God, the deity of Christ and everything else that is revealed. He knows his time is short, and therefore he rages, but Jesus saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven, and Christ is never very polite with Satan, a few words and very strong ones are all that are necessary for this arch prince of wickedness.

Look out of yourself then and away from yourself, and look to Christ. Not to forms or feelings, but look to what Christ has done. The Lord brings His people forth out of the house of bondage, and He makes their deliverance effectual. He has found a ransom, the substitutionary sacrifice of His well beloved Son, and therefore we may cry, Deliver him from going down to the pit.

Let us pray together. O Lord Jesus Christ, thou great Conqueror of Satan, put forth thy power and tread down the enemy under our feet. Silence the mouth of the accuser, halt every plan and device of the evil one, whether direct or indirect, and let no connection or influence of his prosper against this soul. Bind the strong man and spoil his goods, and keep this thy servant hidden in thee, where life is hid with Christ in God. Give faith to trust thy finished work, and let that faith put the crown again upon thy head, for thou alone hast saved. Preserve and keep until thou shalt make us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. In thy own victorious name we ask it, Amen.
