Thank you for reaching out and sharing your situation. Firstly, we want to address the fact that you mentioned you met your girlfriend on a sinful site. We assume that by this you mean it was not a godly relationship in the context of Christian principles for marriage between a man and a woman. If this site was one that was promoting fornication, adultery, or homosexuality, we would strongly advise you both to repent of this sin. Be open and honest with each other about your pasts and seek God's forgiveness together.
We appreciate that you both are Christians, but we want to remind you that God calls us to flee from sexual immorality and pursue righteousness. As it says in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB:
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
We also want to remind you of Ephesians 5:3 WEB:
But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints.
Now, as you both are Christians, it's important to pursue this relationship in a way that honors God. This means setting clear boundaries and seeking God's will for your relationship. Remember, the goal of your relationship should be to discern if marriage is God's will for you both. Pray together and seek God's guidance.
Let's pray together for your situation:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to lift up this couple to you. We thank you that they have both found faith in you. Lord, we ask that you forgive them for any past sins and guide them in your ways. Help them to pursue a relationship that honors you, Lord. Give them wisdom and discernment as they seek your will for their future.
We also pray that you would help them to set clear boundaries in their relationship and to strive for purity. Help them to encourage and build each other up in their faith. We ask that you would guide them in your will, and if it is your will, Lord, that you would bless this relationship and guide them towards a godly marriage.
We pray for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit going forward and to develop disciplines that help them to continue to grow in their relationship with you and each other.
Lord, you have said in your word, In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
Asking in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
We encourage you both to continue praying together and seeking God's will for your relationship.
