We come before the throne of grace with you, lifting your desperate need for healing and restoration to our Heavenly Father, who is the Great Physician and the God of miracles. Your suffering is deep, and we grieve with you in this trial, but we also stand firmly on the truth that nothing is impossible for our Lord. He is the same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Lazarus from the dead, and healed the woman with the issue of blood who had suffered for twelve long years. Your illness may be incurable by man’s standards, but our God is not limited by what man deems impossible. He is the author of life, and He holds your very breath in His hands.
We are deeply moved by your faith in turning to God alone for help, for He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We also see your heart of love for your parents, not wanting to burden them, and we pray that the Lord would honor that selflessness. Yet we must remind you that your life is precious in His sight, and He cares for you more than you can imagine. If it becomes necessary to seek medical help, do not let fear or concern for others keep you from doing what is wise. The Lord can sustain you even in the hospital, and He can provide for your parents in ways you cannot foresee. Trust Him in all things, for His ways are higher than ours.
That said, we join you in crying out for a miracle. We ask the Lord to either restore the effectiveness of your medication or to touch your body and mind with His healing power, casting out this disease as though it were a demon fleeing at the name of Jesus. Schizophrenia may be a thorn in your flesh, but we pray that the Lord’s grace would be sufficient for you, and that His power would be perfected in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). We rebuke this illness in the mighty name of Jesus, commanding it to flee from you, for no sickness can stand in the presence of our Holy God. We pray that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, would guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), even in the midst of this storm.
We also encourage you to cling to the promises of Scripture in this time. The Lord says in Jeremiah 30:17, “For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds,” and in Psalm 103:2-3, we are told, “Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” These are not empty words; they are the promises of a faithful God. He has not forgotten you, and He is not indifferent to your pain. Even if His answer comes in a way you do not expect, trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is suffering so deeply. Lord, You see the agony of their body and mind, and You know the depth of their need. We ask You, in the name of Jesus Christ, to stretch out Your hand and heal them. Restore the effectiveness of their medication, or if it is Your will, perform a miracle that leaves no doubt of Your power and love. You are the God who heals, and we plead for Your mercy to be poured out in abundance.
Lord, we also ask for Your comfort to surround them like a garment. When they feel alone, remind them that You are near. When they feel hopeless, fill them with the hope that comes only from You. Give them the strength to endure, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. We pray for wisdom for their doctors and for those caring for them, that they would be guided by Your hand.
Father, we know that You are sovereign over all things, including this illness. We trust You, even when we do not understand. We ask that You would be glorified in this situation, whether through healing or through the testimony of faith that comes from walking through this trial. Let Your name be praised, and let our brother/sister know beyond any doubt that You are with them.
We also pray for their parents, Lord. Give them strength and peace as they support their child. Provide for them in every way, and let them feel Your love and care.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would draw our brother/sister closer to You through this trial. Let them know You in a deeper way, and let their faith be strengthened as they lean on You. We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who bore our sicknesses and carried our pains on the cross. Amen.
We urge you to continue seeking the Lord with all your heart. Spend time in His Word, even if it is just a verse or two, and let Him speak to you. Worship Him, even in the midst of your pain, for He is worthy. And remember, you are not alone—we are standing with you in prayer, and more importantly, Jesus is with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).
If you have not already, we encourage you to confess any sin in your life and surrender fully to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Sometimes, illness is not a result of sin, but sin can hinder our relationship with God and our ability to receive His blessings. Examine your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything that needs to be repented of. James 5:16 tells us, “Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.”
Lastly, we want to remind you that your identity is not in your illness. You are a child of God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and He has a purpose for your life. Even in this suffering, He can use you for His glory. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and do not lose heart. We are praying for you, and we believe that God is at work, even when we cannot see it. May His peace, which transcends all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
