Need a miracle so I can pray

Eroymar

Disciple of Prayer
Hi, I would greatly appreciate your prayers- I am having a severe problem. I stutter severely when I try to pray to God, I can barely speak to God, this has been going on for a long time now. Some times it is so bad I can't talk to God at all but I have to do it anyway because I must pray, praying is extremely hard but I must do it or something bad will happen. I believe God is showing me that the enemy does not have the power to physically stop a believer from praying, but I have a severe problem with anxiety, it is so severe I stutter when I try to pray. I am so wound up with anxiety I can barely pray. I do not feel anxious so I don't realize what is happening. This problem may all be my illness (schizophrenia), God touched me a few days ago and my problem is better, but I still can barely pray. I am facing another severe problem right now and I need to pray, spend time with God, so it stops but I am barely able to pray right now. I need a miracle that I can talk to God, please pray for a miracle! Thank you!

We have heard your cry and we are lifting you up before the Father together in prayer. We understand how distressing it is to want to pray and to feel that your own tongue and your anxiety are standing in the way, and we thank you for sharing so honestly about your struggle with stuttering, severe anxiety, and schizophrenia. We rejoice that you have already felt the touch of God and that things are better than before, and we are asking Him to complete the work He has begun in you.

We want to speak gently but clearly to a burden you are carrying that is not from God, the thought that you must pray perfectly or at length or something bad will happen. That is a lie from the enemy that brings fear and torment, and it is not the character of our loving Father. God is not waiting to punish you if your prayer is broken or short. He knows what you need before you ask Him. In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking. Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Matthew 6:7-8. Your stutter does not hinder God from hearing you at all. His Word tells us, In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered. Romans 8:26. When you cannot form words, when anxiety tightens your chest and your speech will not come, the Holy Spirit is already carrying your groanings to the Father perfectly. You do not need a perfect performance of prayer to be heard or to be safe, you need only a trusting heart.

We also lovingly point out that you spoke of praying to God but did not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace with Him. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to come to God in the name of Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and trusting Him alone as your Savior. It is in His name that we are heard, not because of how fluently we speak.

Anxiety and fear are not your master. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. The Lord knows the weight of your illness and He has compassion on you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. We encourage you to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 and to hear His promise, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. That peace is not dependent on eloquent words, it comes as you simply bring your heart to Him, even in silence, even in a single word of Jesus' name, even in tears without words.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and the accusation that the enemy can physically stop a believer from praying or that God will allow harm to come if you do not pray in a certain way. That is not truth. Nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus when you belong to Him.

So we pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You see the severe stuttering, the overwhelming anxiety, and the battle with schizophrenia. You know how hard it is to speak and how much this precious soul longs to spend time with You. We ask for Your miracle touch, Lord, to calm the nervous system, to quiet the anxious thoughts, to heal and steady the mind, and to loosen the tongue so that prayer can flow with freedom. Where speech still fails, we ask that You make Your presence so real that Your child knows without doubt that You hear every groan and every silent cry. Pour out Your peace which surpasses all understanding to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Break the chain of fear that says something bad will happen if prayer is not perfect, and replace it with the assurance of Your perfect love which casts out fear. Let this one know deeply that they are safe in Your hands because of Jesus, not because of the perfection of their prayers. We ask for continued healing, for wisdom for doctors and counselors who provide care, and for strength to keep seeking You simply and trustingly each day. We thank You that You have already touched this life and we ask You to do even more for Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying in whatever way you can, even if it is just whispering the name of Jesus, or sitting quietly and saying Father, help me, or praying in your heart without speaking aloud at all. God hears the heart. Do not measure your prayer by fluency or length. Rest in His grace, continue faithfully with any medical and counseling help He has provided for your schizophrenia and anxiety, and stay in His Word daily even if only a verse at a time. He is not distant or disappointed in you, He is near, He cares, and He is working for your good as you look to Jesus.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly with us. We hear how hard and exhausting this has been, wanting so much to spend time with God and feeling your words get stuck when you try to pray. It makes sense that would feel frightening and discouraging, especially when you are already carrying anxiety and health challenges and facing another heavy situation right now.

We are grateful you noticed some improvement after God touched you a few days ago, and we want to keep praying with you for more ease and peace as you talk with Him. Please know God is not kept away by a stutter or by needing to keep prayers short. He hears the quiet intentions of your heart even when the words will not come smoothly, and He does not love you less on the days praying feels harder.

The pressure you feel that you must pray perfectly or something bad will happen can make anxiety even tighter. God is not waiting to punish you for struggling to pray. He is with you in the struggle and wants you to be able to rest with Him, not fear Him.

One gentle next step that may help is to let your time with God be very simple for now, a few honest words in your heart or a short sentence when speaking feels too hard, and to let someone who knows you, like a pastor and your doctor or counselor, know how much anxiety you are carrying around prayer so they can support you in person alongside prayer. If you have professional care for your schizophrenia, please keep them included.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift our friend to You. You see the desire to be close to You and the difficulty in getting words out. Bring calm, comfort and a sense of Your nearness. Help him to know he is safe and loved in Christ even when prayer feels hard, and give wisdom and encouragement to those caring for him. Amen.

Your cry has been heard, and the very longing to speak with God which you describe is itself a prayer that He has already heard. You are not forgotten because your tongue stumbles, nor is your Father waiting for smooth words before He will listen.

There is comfort for such a case as yours, for God will hear the prayer of a staggering man, and the prayer that has not any sense in it because the man who prays is at his wit's end, the prayer itself seeming to reel to and fro. When you can scarcely form a sentence, when anxiety winds you so tightly that you do not even feel it until your speech fails, the Lord does not turn away. He knows the infirmity of the body and the trouble of the mind, and He understands the affliction you name. The Spirit Himself helps our infirmities, and when we know not what to pray for as we ought, He makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. A single sigh, a broken name of Jesus, a tear that cannot find words, is a prevailing prayer in His ears.

You write that you must pray or something bad will happen, and that fear has made prayer itself a burden. Hear this truth with care. Anxiety in such a form does not help you to pray, it unfits you to meet the difficulty, and it has never comforted any soul or brought any good to the mill. Our God is not a hard master who watches to punish you for a stammer. He is the Good Physician who heals and pardons together. Our Lord Jesus Christ lives to intercede for you, and His prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for there is not a grain in His censer that is for Himself. He prayed for His people, Father, keep them from the evil, and He prays for you still when you cannot pray for yourself. You are kept not by the perfection of your prayers, but by His perfect pleading for you.

You say God touched you a few days ago and you are a little better, and for this we give thanks. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. He can touch again. He can calm the anxious spirit, quiet the wound mind, and give you liberty to speak with Him as a child with a father. We will ask Him to do so, and we trust He will hear, for they were a long while before they prayed to the Lord, but He was not a long while before He answered their prayer.

In the meantime, do not measure prayer by length or fluency. True prayer is just pleading with the Most High, spreading our case before Him. You need not make an orderly or eloquent petition. Say as David did, Remember the word unto Your servant. Say, Lord, help me. Say, Jesus, have mercy. Even if you can only whisper His name through a stutter, that name contains the whole prayer. If words fail entirely, be still and know that He reads the heart. Let your prayer rise to His throne out of the low dungeon, and expect that He will be very pitiful and will have compassion upon you in your misery.

We will bear you before the Lord in intercessory prayer, which is exceedingly prevalent and has stayed plagues and brought down blessings from on high. And we encourage you to walk in the means He has provided, to remain under the care of those who help you with your health, to speak openly with a faithful pastor or trusted believer who can pray beside you and hear your stammer without judgment, and to rest often upon short portions of Scripture that speak His keeping power.

Let us pray for you now.

O Father of mercies, look upon this Your servant who longs to speak with You and is hindered by stuttering, anxiety, and great affliction of mind. You see how hard it is to pray and how heavy the fear has become. Lord, grant a miracle of healing and of peace. Loose the tongue, calm the spirit, quiet the troubled thoughts, and give ease in coming to Your throne. Remember Your word unto Your servant, that You have promised to hear the broken and the faint. Let this soul know that Jesus intercedes without ceasing, and that nothing can separate from Your love. Quicken and comfort, heal and pardon, and let the healing leaves of Christ be laid upon this wound. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and pleads for us. Amen.

Be of good cheer. The Lord hears stammering prayers, and He will not despise the desire to pray, even when words fail.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing your heart so openly and for letting us pray with you in this heavy struggle. Your desire to talk with God, even when it feels so hard to get the words out, is precious to Him, and He hears you even now.

Please hear this first with comfort. Prayer does not depend on fluent speech or perfect words. God does not measure prayer by how smoothly it sounds, but by the heart that turns to Him. Scripture tells us that when we do not know how to pray or cannot find words, the Holy Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Even a stuttered, broken, or silent turning toward God is fully heard in heaven. You are not failing at prayer when you stutter. You are praying.

You mentioned feeling that you must pray perfectly or something bad will happen. That heavy pressure is not from God. God is your Father, not a taskmaster waiting to punish you for imperfect prayers. He invites you to come as you are, with anxiety, with illness, with faltering speech, and to rest in His grace. Nothing bad will happen because your prayer was not fluent. He keeps you by His mercy, not by the perfection of your performance.

You also asked for a miracle so you can pray. We will certainly ask God for that miracle, for His healing and freeing touch upon your speech, your mind, and your body. We thank Him that you have already felt His touch and some improvement, and we ask Him to continue that good work and to give you greater freedom to speak with Him without fear and without stuttering.

At the same time, remember that the greatest work of God in a life is not always a dramatic miracle. The Scriptures show us that John the Baptist did no miracle, yet his faithfulness and devotion were great before God. Job did no miracle, yet his patient endurance shone brighter than any wonder. Miracles can even harm us if we seek them for the wrong reason, but a life of trust, endurance, and love for God is always precious in His sight. Your faithful endurance, continuing to seek Him through anxiety and illness, is already a testimony of grace at work in you.

The enemy does not have power to cut you off from God. As long as your heart turns to Him, your tongue is not truly bound. Even when speech is hindered, prayer still runs to heaven. And you do not pray alone. It is good to ask others to pray for you, and we are praying for you now, while you also continue to come to Him in your own way, even with few words or tears.

Let us pray for you now.

Father in heaven, we thank You that You are merciful and near to all who call upon You. We lift up this dear one to You who longs to talk with You and feels blocked by stuttering, anxiety, and illness. Lord, have mercy and bring healing. Calm the anxious thoughts, quiet the fear, and bring peace to mind and body. Loose the tongue to speak freely with You, and where speech still falters, let there be deep assurance that You hear and understand every groan and every whispered word. Guard this heart from the lie that Your love must be earned by perfect prayer. Fill this heart with the knowledge that You keep us by Your grace through Jesus Christ. Grant wisdom to doctors and helpers, and surround this life with support, rest, and hope. In the name of Jesus, our only Savior and mediator, we ask for freedom, peace, and a renewed joy in Your presence. Amen.

Keep coming to God simply, as you are. A short, stuttered prayer, a silent sigh toward heaven, a single name of Jesus spoken in trust, all of these He receives. If anxiety rises, pause, breathe, and remember He is already listening. Continue to seek help for your health from trusted medical and pastoral support while you keep seeking the Lord. He is not far from you, He is with you, and He will not turn away a seeking heart.

We are praying for that miracle of greater freedom, and we are also praying that even today you will know His peace that passes understanding guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
