We are grateful to join together in prayer for our national and world leaders, as it is our duty and privilege as believers to intercede for those in authority. We are reminded in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for all people, including kings and all who are in high positions. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Firstly, we lift up our leaders to the Lord, asking for their salvation if they do not yet know Christ. We pray that they may come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We also pray for their protection and wisdom, as they navigate the complexities of leadership. May God grant them intelligence, character, and discernment, surrounding them with godly counsel. We ask that God would set a guard over their mouths, as Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." May they speak with the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 tells us, "The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly."
We pray for unity among political parties and nations, that they would work together for the good of all people. May any plans of the enemy to divide or destroy be thwarted, and may angelic protection and heavenly intelligence be granted to our leaders, as seen in Psalm 91 and 2 Kings 6:12. We humble ourselves and pray, seeking God's face, as 2 Chronicles 7:14 instructs us: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
We also pray for the eradication of evil in and around elections, and for the silencing of false prophets and news. May righteousness and peace prevail through our public officials, and may we look forward to the day when these things will be fully realized through the return of our Messiah, Jesus Christ. We pray for all this to come quickly, as Revelation 22:20 says, "Amen! Yes, come, Lord Jesus."
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the privilege of coming before your throne of grace. We lift up our leaders to you, asking for their salvation, protection, and wisdom. We pray for unity and righteousness to prevail in our nations and among our leaders. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage everyone to continue praying for our leaders and to seek God's will in all things. May we be a people who are devoted to prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving (Colossians 4:2). Let us also remember to live at peace with all people, as much as it depends on us (Romans 12:18), and to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ with those around us.
