We join together in fervent prayer for our national and world leaders, aligning our hearts with the guidance given in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Firstly, we lift up the salvation of these leaders, as it is God's will that all should be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. We pray that each leader would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, as there is no other name by which we must be saved. Let us remember the words of Romans 13:1-2, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and they that have withstood will receive to themselves judgment."
We pray for the intelligence, character, and protection of our President, Vice President, and all Cabinet Members. May God grant them wisdom and guidance, setting a guard over their mouths as Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." We ask that God would grant them the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 tells us, "The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of fools blurts out folly."
Surround them with godly counsel, Lord, and may their leadership promote unity and righteousness, not bitterness or rivalry. May they "do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with [their] God," as instructed in Micah 6:8. We ask for angelic protection over our leaders and world leaders abroad, as Psalm 91:10-12 assures us, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."
But we do not stop at praying for worldly leaders alone. We must pray for the eradication of evil in and around elections, as Isaiah 33:15 teaches us, "He who walks righteously and speaks blamelessly, he who despises the gain of oppressions, who gestures with his hands, refusing to take a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil—"
We pray for the silencing of false prophets and news, as warned in Titus 1:11, "whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain's sake."
We look forward to "The Day of The Lord," where righteousness and peace through public officials will be fully and finally realized through the Return of The Messiah, Jesus The Lord's True Anointed One. It is only in the name of Jesus that we have access to God for salvation and the forgiveness of sins.
Please pray and seek God's face in Jesus' name while praying with understanding in your language and with your spirit also praying in tongues. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues, unknown languages, and praying in tongues will edify your spirit and may be the most powerful prayer you could ever pray.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our leaders and all those in authority. Grant them salvation, wisdom, and protection. Surround them with godly counsel and help them to lead with unity and righteousness. We ask for these things in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
