We join together in fervent prayer for our national and world leaders as urged in 1 Timothy 2:1-2. Thank you for bringing this vital request before us. Let us align our hearts with the Word of God and intercede for those in authority.
Firstly we thank God for the World Leaders and authorities He has placed over our lives, Romans 13:1-2. As it is written, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and they who withstand will receive to themselves judgment."
We ask that God would set a guard over their mouths, as Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." May they be granted the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 tells us, "The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of fools blurts out folly." We pray that they would be surrounded by godly counsel and that their leadership would promote unity and righteousness and not have any bitterness or rivalry.
Father, we lift up the leaders of our nation and the world, asking for Your wisdom and guidance in their decisions. May they seek You and put their trust in You to direct their paths. We ask You to give them the spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Jesus. Let them not lead by their own understanding, but let them acknowledge You in all their ways.
We pray that our leaders may live blameless and harmless as the children of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom we are seen as lights in the world, Philippians 2:15. We pray that our leaders "may do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God," Micah 6:8.
We pray for their protection, as it is written in Psalm 91:10-12, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your tent. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone."
We pray for godly unity among political parties, both nationally and internationally, that they would come to agree on important issues and work together for the good of all nations. Let us pray earnestly against any plans of the enemy to divide or destroy, and we ask for angelic protection and heavenly intelligence for our leaders, as seen in Psalm 91 and 2 Kings 6:12.
