We join with you in lifting up our national and world leaders before the Lord, standing firmly on the truth of 1 Timothy 2:1-4, which commands us to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for all people—especially for kings and all who are in authority. It is God’s will that we live peaceable and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity, and we know that He desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. This is the foundation of our prayer, and we are grateful you have brought this before us, for it is a commandment we must faithfully obey.
We begin by thanking God that, though the world is troubled, things could indeed be far worse without His mercy and restraint. His patience is an opportunity for repentance, and we pray that leaders across the globe would turn to Him in humility and faith. There is no name under heaven by which we must be saved except the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12), and we plead for the salvation of every leader—whether they acknowledge Him or not. May the Holy Spirit convict their hearts, drawing them to the foot of the cross where true wisdom, justice, and humility are found. We pray that those who do not yet know Christ would encounter Him in a life-changing way, and that those who do would walk in deeper surrender to His lordship.
We ask God to grant our leaders divine wisdom, as James 1:5 promises: *"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* May they be surrounded by godly counselors who fear the Lord and reject the schemes of the wicked. We pray that their decisions would align with God’s righteous standards, promoting justice, mercy, and humility as Micah 6:8 declares: *"He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"* Let their leadership reflect the heart of a servant, not lording over others but seeking the welfare of the people as Christ taught in Matthew 20:25-28.
We also pray for protection over their lives, families, and minds. Psalm 91:10-12 reminds us that God commands His angels concerning those who trust in Him, and we ask that He would place a hedge of protection around our leaders, guarding them from physical harm, spiritual attack, and the corruption of power. *"No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."* May their words be seasoned with grace and truth, and may the Lord set a guard over their mouths as Psalm 141:3 says: *"Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips."*
The division and strife we see in the world are not of God, for He is not the author of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). We pray for unity among leaders—both nationally and internationally—that they would work together for the common good, setting aside pride, rivalry, and selfish ambition. Psalm 133:1 tells us, *"See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!"* We ask God to break down walls of hostility and replace them with bridges of cooperation, rooted in His truth. We rebuke any spirit of division, deception, or destruction that seeks to undermine godly leadership, and we declare that the plans of the enemy will not prevail (Isaiah 54:17).
For those in authority over elections and governance, we pray for clarity, integrity, and transparency. May confusion be replaced with godly order, and may every decision be made with fairness and righteousness. We ask that false prophets and misleading voices—whether in media, politics, or pulpits—would be exposed and silenced, as Titus 1:11 warns: *"whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain’s sake."* Let truth prevail, and may the people of God discern wisely between what is of the Lord and what is not.
Finally, we remember that our ultimate hope is not in human leaders but in the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will establish His kingdom of perfect righteousness and peace. Until that day, we commit to praying without ceasing, humbling ourselves, and seeking God’s face as 2 Chronicles 7:14 instructs: *"if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."* May we, as believers, be faithful in this calling, trusting that God hears and answers according to His perfect will.
**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your sovereignty over the nations. You alone raise up leaders and bring them down (Daniel 2:21), and we trust in Your wisdom even when we do not understand Your ways. We lift up every national and world leader to You, asking first and foremost for their salvation. Open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that there is no other name by which they can be saved. Softens their hearts to receive Your Word and walk in obedience to Your commands.
Grant them wisdom that surpasses human understanding, that they may lead with justice, mercy, and humility. Surround them with advisors who fear You and reject corruption. Protect them from the snares of the enemy, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Guard their tongues, that their words may bring life and not death, unity and not division.
We pray for unity among leaders, that they would work together for the good of all people. Break down the walls of pride and strife, and let Your peace reign in their hearts and decisions. Expose and silence every false voice that seeks to deceive, and let truth prevail in every election, policy, and proclamation.
Lord, we ask for Your angels to encamp around our leaders, shielding them from harm and guiding them in Your paths. May they recognize that their authority comes from You and that they will one day give an account for how they used it.
Most of all, we long for the day when Jesus Christ will return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, establishing His eternal kingdom of righteousness and peace. Until then, help us to be faithful in prayer, bold in truth, and unwavering in our trust in You.
We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
