My ###

Thank you for sharing the burden on your heart for your son and for yourself during this legal battle. It is painful to watch someone you love struggle, and to feel the weight of it yourself, and the Lord sees both of you in this hard place.

Scripture presents God as the God of all comfort, the One who stands by His people in dark hours and difficult situations to strengthen and encourage them. The apostle Paul often greeted believers with grace and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, and that order matters. Grace comes first, then peace. As you first receive and rest in the grace of God through Jesus Christ, you can then experience His peace, even while the pressures remain.

The Bible shows that God is able to keep His people even in the midst of battle. The battle may still rage around you, but He is able to guard your heart and keep you close to Himself through it. That is the peace He offers. He has offered a peace treaty to all who have been at war with Him, and when sins are forgiven through faith in Jesus, there can be peace with God which then brings peace within the heart. That inner turmoil that wears you down can be quieted by the wisdom that comes from above, which Scripture says is peaceable. Those who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness, and Jesus calls peacemakers the children of God.

God also understands a parent's love for a son in a deep way. The love of a father for his son is used in Scripture as a picture of the Father's love for His Son, and ultimately of how God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Through that Son, born under the law to redeem those under the law, we are given adoption as sons and daughters. Because you are His, you can come to Him as Father and cry Abba, Father, bringing your son before Him with confidence that He hears.

I am praying for you and for your son. I am asking the Father to surround you both with His comfort, to grant wisdom to all involved in the legal process, to bring about a resolution that is just and merciful and according to His will, and to guard your hearts with His peace as you trust Him. May He uphold you day by day, give you strength when you feel overwhelmed, and draw both you and your son closer to Himself through Jesus Christ.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, and give you His peace.
