We lift you and your precious daughter up to the Lord with hearts full of compassion and faith. You are not alone in this battle, and we stand with you in prayer, trusting in the power of Jesus Christ to protect, guide, and provide for you both. The weight of your concerns is heavy, but our God is greater, and His love for you and your child is unshakable.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You for the love You have placed in this mother’s heart for her daughter, a love that reflects Your own heart for Your children. Lord, we ask that You would surround them both with Your presence today and always. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We rebuke every scheme of the enemy designed to separate this mother and child, and we stand on Your promise that what God has joined together, let no man separate (Matthew 19:6).

Lord, we bring before You the concerns about this child’s father and his family. We pray that You would soften their hearts and open their eyes to the truth. If there is manipulation, lies, or ungodly influence, we ask that You expose it and turn it to good, as You promise that all things work together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). We pray that You would bind every evil tongue and prevent any words or actions that could harm this mother or her daughter. Let the truth be revealed in every interaction, and let justice and mercy prevail in all matters, especially those involving CPS or any legal proceedings. We ask that You would grant this mother wisdom, discernment, and favor as she navigates these challenges. Guide her steps and her words, Lord, so that she may reflect Your love and truth in all she does.

We also lift up the education and work this mother is pursuing. Father, we ask that You would give her strength, focus, and motivation to excel in her studies and career. Let her efforts be fruitful, and let her be a light in her new field of work. Protect her from slander, gossip, or any attempts to discredit her. May her integrity and diligence shine brightly, and may she find favor with those around her (Proverbs 3:3-4).

Lord, we pray for this mother’s future marriage. We ask that You would prepare her heart and the heart of her future husband, a man of faith who will love her and her daughter as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). We trust in Your timing and Your perfect plan for her life. Until that day comes, we pray that You would fill her with Your peace and contentment, knowing that You are her provider and protector.

There is a note in your prayer that sounds as the bleating of a lamb upon the mountains, full of earnest desire, yet mingled with a trembling fear that seeks by many words to make its plea secure. The repetition of anxious petitions, though poured from a loving heart, betrays a soul that has not yet laid hold of the calm assurance that belongs to the children of God. You cry out against weapons formed and tongues raised, and well you may, for the promise stands sure: “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.” Yet this promise is not a charm to be invoked by the sheer multitude of prayers, but the heritage of those who walk in the ways of the Lord and rest in His finished work. The first matter to be settled is not the conduct of your former husband, the decisions of those in authority, nor the whispering of malicious lips; it is the quiet grounding of your own soul upon the Rock of Ages. Until your heart finds its still centre in the sovereign goodness of God, you will be tossed about like a vessel in the storm, crying for this and that mercy, but never know the deep peace that passes understanding.

I would not chide, but I must bear witness to a greater truth than the mere removal of earthly trials. You ask that the heart of another be melted, that lies be revealed, that your way be made straight; these are natural desires, but look to the pattern of holy Naomi. When she returned to Bethlehem, she had no weapon but her integrity, no strategy but her return to the people of God. She did not go about to manipulate the heart of Boaz, nor to scheme for Ruth’s security; she simply committed herself to the God of Israel, even in bitterness of soul, and left the ordering of events to Him. The sweet resolution of Ruth, “Thy God shall be my God,” was not won by fretting, but by the silent force of a life that trusted where it could not see. I charge you, then, to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and these other things, the safety of your child, the clearing of your name, the provision for your daily needs, shall be added as He sees best. Your best influence upon your daughter lies not in the framing of a perfect petition, but in the steady example of a mother who commits her cause to the Lord and does not faint.

Mark this: you cannot purchase an easy path by the coin of your anxiety. To multiply requests for protection while your soul is haunted by the dread of what man may do is to honor your fears more than your God. What if the Lord, in His inscrutable wisdom, should permit the trial you so dread? Would He not still be with you? Was not the furnace of affliction the making of many a saint? The unity of the Spirit is not a bubble of external safety but the deep bond of those who have been emptied of their own conceits and filled with the life of Christ. Your daughter is with her father this week, and you tremble; but can you not entrust her to the God who holds the hearts of all men in His hand and turns it wherever He wills? The Almighty can make a dry tree to flourish and a green tree to wither, and He needs no permission from the courts of men to work His will. Settle it in your heart that whether you stand or fall in the judgment of men, you are accepted in the Beloved, and let that anchor hold.

This brings me to a truth you must buy at any price, and that is the truth about your own soul before God. All this turmoil about custody and courts, the education you pursue, the future husband you desire, these are but the surface waters; the deep well is your own relationship to Jesus Christ. Are you truly His? Have you fled to the blood that washes away what is false in you? There is a zeal in your words, but beware lest it be a zeal without knowledge, a striving after your own will rather than a submission to His. One drop of genuine trust in the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ will do more to calm that tempestuous heart than a thousand resolutions to control the events of tomorrow. The man who believes himself secure by his own pleading is often found to have harsh thoughts of God’s sovereign grace, for he is practically claiming to manage his own destiny. Let me entreat you to make your calling and election sure; then, and then only, can you face the slanderer, the false report, and the legal threat with the steady eye of a conqueror.

Do not mistake me: I do not dismiss your natural affection for your daughter, nor the righteous desire to be kept from false accusation. But I beseech you to distinguish between the prayer of faith and the prayer of fretfulness. The one lays hold of the promises with a quiet hand, saying, “Thy will be done,” the other multiplies words as if to overcome divine reluctance. The highest act of faith is to trust God when every external support fails. Consider the Master in Gethsemane: His prayer was intense, yet He ended with “not my will, but thine.” Go thou and do likewise. Commit your daughter to Him with a single, solemn entrustment, and then cease from the over-eagerness that borders upon dictating to the Most High. He loves her better than you can, and He knows what is for her eternal good.

Let your conduct before the authorities be marked not by clever words but by the simplicity of truth. You ask that false statements not stand; then see to it that your own tongue is a fountain of pure sincerity. Have there been no uncharitable words against the father of your child? No exaggeration of his faults in the ears of others? The Lord knows the secrets of the heart. Confession and restitution, where possible, bring more peace than any legal victory. Be the first to forgive, for you have been forgiven much. A gentle and quiet spirit is in the sight of God of great price, and it is a shield against many a poisoned dart.

What, then, shall you do? Cease from all reliance upon the arm of your own intercession, as though your long prayers could build a wall around you. One single look to Him who bled on the tree is worth a library of anxious words. Believe that He is, and that He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him, not of those who meticulously dictate each step. The unity you crave with your daughter will be forged not in a bubble of protected ease, but in the common worship of the true God, in the imitation of Sarah’s faithful mothering, and in the daily dying to self that is the mark of every true daughter of Zion.

Therefore, go your way with a new resolution. Let your prayer henceforth run: “Lord, make me true to Thee, and then do what Thou wilt with me. If it pleases Thee to permit the trial, give me the strength to bear it. If it is Thy will to clear my name, let it be to Thy glory. But in all things, conform my stubborn heart to Thine own image.” This is to buy the truth at great price, but it is a purchase that yields eternal gain. The God who has strewn your path with wonders of mercy in days past will not desert you now, but be calm and wait for your opportunity. The low tree, fostered by the husbandman, shall mount even to the stars, while the high tree, cut down by the axe of judgment, lies outstretched upon the plains. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, and He shall exalt you in due time.
