My Testimony About My Walk With Christ Jesus

I hope that my testimony will be an encouragement to someone. I have been a Christian most of my life. When I was just a ### year old boy I went to what is called a RYDC(Regional Youth Developement Center, ie kiddie jail) I had ran away from home alot by this point in my life and I felt that I was unwanted and unloved. My step-father (Who is now deceased for over ### years God rest his soul) was a very difficult man for me to get along with. After much verbal and mental abuse I just took off. Well not too long after I left home I was picked up by the Sheriff's department and taken into custody. I was in the RYDC for about ### months when a church service was held at the center. Out of curiosity and to be honest a complete boredom from being stuck in a very small locked room I decided to go to the service. The Pastor started to preach on John 3:16-18. Now at ### alot of what was said went right over my very young mind. What did catch my attention was the part about God loving the World, and I remember thinking how nice it would be to know this God that loved the World so much that He would give His only begotten Son for me and the rest of the World! The word LOVE stood out the most. I had never had anyone love me. I knew what it was like to be hated,unwanted, and despised just for excisting, but love was something very different and I truly wanted to know what this was like. The Pastor asked if any of us wanted to receive Jesus as our LORD and Savior and I said "I do, but does He really love us?" To the Pastor's credit he was very nice and said, "Yes Jesus loves you this much, and when he said this much he stretched out his arms from left to right, you know the way Jesus had his arms stretched out on the cross. In that moment I said yes I will accept Jesus as my LORD and Savior, but do you suppose He will take me as His son too, because I sure could use a good Father right about now. The Pastor smiled and said yes He will be your Father too! So I accepted Jesus as my Abba, Father and my LORD and Savior! I have had ups and downs in my life, but Jesus has never left me nor forsaken me. He is ready for you to receive Him too. Will you receive Jesus as your LORD and Savior today? We rejoice with you and we thank our heavenly Father for your beautiful testimony and for the work He began in your heart as a young boy in that detention center. What you experienced is the very heart of the gospel, that God saw you when you felt unwanted and unloved and He drew you to Himself through His Son.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 That word love that stood out to you is the truth that has changed your life forever, and it is the same love that still sustains you today.

We are so encouraged that the pastor showed you the love of Jesus with arms stretched wide on the cross, and that you understood in that moment that you were not only receiving a Savior but also a Father. For you didn't receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, Abba Father. Rom 8:15 And having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire. Eph 1:5 What you asked for as a boy, a good Father, God has abundantly given you, and He will never take it away.

We know you have faced much verbal and mental hurt and the pain of feeling hated and despised for simply existing, but scripture gives us this precious promise, When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up. Ps 27:10 He is a Father of the fatherless. Ps 68:5 And He has kept His promise to you, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you. Heb 13:5 Through every up and down since that day, Jesus has been faithful even when others were not, and He will continue to be faithful to complete the good work He began in you.

See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. 1 John 3:1 You are His child, and that identity can never be taken from you.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we thank You in the name of Jesus for saving our brother when he was so young and so lonely, and for revealing Your love to him through John 3:16. We thank You that You adopted him as Your son and You have never left him nor forsaken him. We ask that You continue to strengthen his walk with Christ Jesus, that You root him deeper in Your Word, surround him with faithful fellowship, and use his testimony to draw many others who feel unwanted and unloved to the saving knowledge of Jesus. Let his life continue to be a witness that Your love is real and that Your arms are still stretched wide to receive all who will call upon the name of Jesus. Keep him steadfast until the day he sees You face to face. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

What a faithful and tender mercy the Lord has shown to you, and how sweetly you have declared His wondrous works. Your testimony is indeed an encouragement, for it sets forth that great truth that God is Love, and being Love He must display love, nor can He rest with merely speaking of His love. His love must manifest itself in action, and it did so most clearly when He gave His only begotten Son.

You have well said that the word LOVE stood out to you, even as a boy who knew what it was to be unwanted and despised. Until the window is opened, all the bounties of providence fail to convince us of His love, but the Cross is the window through which the love of God is best seen. When that dear pastor stretched out his arms to show how much Jesus loves you, he preached the very heart of John 3:16. There on the cross the arms of the Savior were stretched out for sinners, and there every mercy and every misery alike become proofs of love. If He caresses, it is love, if He chastens, it is love, if He smiles, it is love, and if He frowns, it is love, for to His people it is nothing else but Love, infinite, boundless, eternal and unchangeable.

How precious was your question, will He take me as His son too, for I sure could use a good Father. This is the climax of His love, that we who were not His people should be called His people, and her beloved which was not beloved. No man comes unto the Father but by the Son, yet when we have seen the Son we have known the Father. He is not merely a God who feeds the ravens and clothes the lilies, but the righteous Father who views us in Christ and takes delight in us as a father does in his children. He has made us heirs of God, joint heirs with Jesus Christ, and taught us to cry Abba, Father. What love is that which has given you so choice a token, to be begotten unto a lively hope by the Father's grace.

You testify truly that though you have had ups and downs, Jesus has never left you nor forsaken you. He who has taught you from your youth will keep you even to old age. He was chastened, but he was never cast out, he still continued as God's pupil. And now you are as David, who said, O God, You have taught me from my youth, and until this time have I declared Your wondrous works. Continue to do so. If you have seen God's work and have been struck with it, tell it to others, that they also may perceive His boundless mercies.

May the Lord keep that spark of eternal love alive in your heart, that your love to Him, which is but a reflection of His love to you, may flame forth more and more. May you love Him in life, love Him in death, and praise Him as long as He lends you breath, and may many who hear your testimony be led to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and to know Him as Father. We thank God for His sparing love that kept you, His saving love that met you in that small locked room, and His keeping love that holds you still. He shall rest in His love, He shall rejoice over you with singing.

Your testimony is a powerful and moving witness to the grace of God, and I thank you for sharing it so openly. What you heard as a young boy in that small room is the heart of the gospel, that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, and that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

It is beautiful that the word love is what stayed with you. You had known what it was to feel unwanted and despised, but God showed you a different love, a love that suffers long and is kind, a love that is strong and does not fail. When that pastor stretched out his arms to show how much Jesus loves you, he was showing you the cross, where Christ stretched out His own arms to take you as His own.

Your question in that moment, whether He would take you as His son and be a Father to you, is the very prayer God delights to answer. Scripture says God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power and of love, and He has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying Abba, Father. It is the Holy Spirit Himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs. When you believed that Jesus is able to save, you were given that dignity, not by man but by God Himself, and no one can take it away.

It is also encouraging to hear you say that through ups and downs Jesus has never left you nor forsaken you. That is His promise to all who trust Him. The sure proof of love for Him is to hear His words and keep them, to continue walking with Him in faith day by day, trusting His power and His love for you and for your neighbor.

May the Lord continue to strengthen you, to keep you in His love, and to use your story to draw others to receive Him. I pray that He will give you boldness to speak of what He has done, and that you will grow ever deeper in knowing Him as your Father and your Lord and Savior, who will never leave you.
