My son needs prayer from smoking weed

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I'm the only parent left and my son needs to be release from smoking this substance. He needs God's intervention. I asked you God make him nausea when he wants to smoke take the craving away for any substance. Please pray for us

We hear your cry and we stand with you together before the Lord as you carry this heavy burden alone as the only parent left. We know how painful and exhausting it is to watch your son be bound by this substance and we join our faith with yours for his deliverance and for your strength.

The Lord calls us to be sober minded and to honor Him with our bodies, for our bodies are not our own. Scripture tells us, Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. We are also told to Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8. Smoking weed dulls the mind, weakens self control, and opens a door to further bondage, and we gently but firmly rebuke this hold it has on your son because it does not align with God's will for a clear mind and a pure life set apart for Him. God's desire is not simply to make him feel sick when he craves it, though we understand your desperate prayer for the craving to be taken away, but to transform his heart from within so he no longer desires what harms him. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through His name that we are saved and delivered. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. Your son does not just need behavior change, he needs a new heart that comes through surrendering his life to Jesus Christ. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17. And So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36.

We pray together now for you both.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious son to You. Lord, You see his bondage to marijuana and the craving that grips him, and we ask for Your divine intervention and deliverance. Take away the desire for this substance and for any substance, break the chains of addiction, and set him free indeed by the power of Jesus. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, give him a sober mind and a heart that hungers for righteousness instead of this weed. Convict him deeply when temptation comes, turn his heart away from what destroys his body and his witness, and draw him to salvation and to a full surrender to Jesus as Lord. Father, we also lift up this parent who is carrying this burden alone. Strengthen them, Lord, give them peace that passes all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Remind them that You are a father to the fatherless and that You will never leave them nor forsake them. Help them to not grow weary in doing good, to speak truth in love to their son, to set godly boundaries, and to keep praying without ceasing. Surround this family with a Bible believing church family, with godly counsel and accountability, so this son will have brothers in Christ to walk with him and this parent will not be alone. We ask all of this according to Your perfect will, believing You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask, in Jesus name, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently and to seek help within a local church where your son can be discipled and held accountable. Encourage him to confess his struggle openly, to avoid places and friendships that trigger the habit, and to fill his time with the Word of God and with work that honors the Lord. We encourage you to pray with fasting as the Lord leads, to speak Scripture over him daily, and to trust that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun. Do not give up, for in due season you will reap if you do not give up. We are standing with you for his complete release and for his new life in Christ.

We hear your heart for your son and how lonely it can feel to carry this burden as the only parent left. Loving him and wanting him free from weed is a good and right desire, and we want to stand with you in prayer.

We know craving can feel very strong and confusing, both for the person using and for the family who loves them. Addiction often has many layers at once, habits, stress, emotional pain, and the way the brain learns to seek relief, which is why lasting change usually takes steady support on several fronts, not just willpower alone. That does not mean change is impossible, many people do find freedom as they keep choosing steps toward health with help around them.

One gentle next step that helps many parents is to have a calm, brief conversation at a moment when he is not high, sharing your concern without shame, and inviting him to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor with you, someone who can walk with you both over time. If you have a church family, letting one or two mature believers in to support you regularly can also lighten the load you are carrying alone.

Father, we bring this mother and her son before You in Jesus name. Please guard him from harm, soften his heart toward You, and loosen the hold this substance has on him. Take away the craving in Your mercy and give him a growing desire for what is healthy and whole. Give his mom wisdom, peace and strength for each day, and surround them both with caring help. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your cry for your son has been heard, and we join you before the throne of grace to seek the Lord for his deliverance.

There is a word of great comfort for such a case as yours, for the Lord is gracious and says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. Job 33:24. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance if God had not thought of it himself, and he has not only invented the way but he has found the ransom in his own bosom where his only begotten and well beloved Son was lying. He gave himself to bleed and die for sinners, and that great price is still sufficient to save from the guilt of sin and from the power of sin also.

For deliverance from the power of darkness is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and it is to our heavenly Father alone that we must look. When Israel came out of Egypt it was Jehovah who brought forth his people, and when any man is saved from spiritual bondage it is the Lord Jesus who loosens the captive. It is not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. Unless a supernatural power is put forth, any form of deliverance is worth nothing, but there is no true liberty but that of which Christ makes us free.

We therefore pray with you that the Lord would be gracious unto your son and command deliverance for him. We ask that God would break the bonds from his neck and set him free, that he would take away the craving for this substance and give him a hatred for that which enslaves him, and that he would translate him from the power of darkness into the kingdom of his dear Son. We pray not only that the outward habit would be removed, but that he would be saved from himself and from the dominion of sin, and be given a new heart to love what God loves.

We pray also for you who bear this burden alone. It is well to have grace enough to see that even this bitter cup is in the Father's hand, for he kindles the fiery furnace and sits as a Refiner at the door. That which we receive from the rod of the Lord bears the blessed aspect of chastening from a father's hand, and he does not afflict willingly but for our profit. He who gave his own dear Son to put away sin will not withhold needful grace for your daily troubles. He will be your strength to lead you on day by day.

Continue to look to Christ and to plead the ransom that God has found. Lay your son before the Lord in believing prayer, place the word of God before him, seek the fellowship and counsel of faithful believers who will walk with you both, and trust that what God has promised he will perform. He has given commandment to save, and those whom he delivers shall live and declare the works of the Lord.

We join our faith with yours now, asking the Lord to show his delivering power in your son's life, to keep him from going down to the pit, and to make him a testimony of free grace.

Your prayer for your son has been heard, and I join you in lifting him before the Lord who is able to deliver and to heal. I understand the weight you carry as the only parent left, and the sorrow of watching a child bound by a craving that harms his body and clouds his mind.

Scripture teaches that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that Christ came for two great purposes, to deliver us from evil and to bring us into sonship with the Father. Through Christ we receive not only forgiveness but the Spirit of adoption, so that we can walk as sons who are free and who honor God with our lives. It is that freedom I pray for over your son, that he would know himself as a son of God and would turn from what enslaves him to what gives life.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son. You see this mother and her love for her son, and you see this young man and his struggle with this substance. Lord, have mercy on them both. We ask you to intervene with your power. Take away the craving for weed and for every substance that masters him. Make what harms him lose its appeal, and give him a deep desire for what is pure and holy. Fill him with your Holy Spirit, strengthen his will, and help him to walk in self control. Guard his mind and body, heal what has been harmed, and lead him into fellowship with believers who will encourage him and hold him accountable. Give his mother strength, peace, and wisdom each day, and let her not grow weary in praying and loving him. Teach him also to honor his mother as you have commanded, that his life may be ordered in obedience to you.

We ask this trusting in your mercy and your power to set captives free. Grant repentance where it is needed, grant freedom that lasts, and draw this son closer to you, that he may find his satisfaction in Christ alone. Amen.

Continue to bring him before the Lord daily, and seek the help of a faithful local church and trusted pastors who can walk with you both, encourage him, and provide wise counsel and accountability. God is faithful, and he hears the prayers of a parent who seeks him. Keep trusting him, keep speaking truth in love to your son, and keep pointing him to the hope and new life that is found only in Jesus.
