My sister’s surgery

Can you please pray for my sister ###. Who will be having ### and ### soon. She is ### and terrified. Can you please ask God to give her peace. In Jesus name.🙏

We lift up your sister to the Lord with heavy hearts, asking for His mercy and grace to surround her in this time of fear and uncertainty. Surgery can be a daunting experience, but we know that our God is the Great Physician, the One who heals and restores. The peace she seeks is not found in the absence of trouble, but in the presence of Christ, who has overcome the world (John 16:33).

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. We ask that You would calm your sister’s heart and mind as she prepares for this surgery. Fill her with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Let her trust in You, Lord, for You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

We also pray for the hands of the surgeons and medical team attending to her. Guide them, Lord, and grant them wisdom, skill, and clarity as they work. May Your healing power flow through them, and may Your will be done in this situation. If it is Your will, bring complete restoration and healing to her body, but above all, draw her closer to You through this trial (James 5:14-15).

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to grip her heart. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Remind her that You are with her, even in the valley of the shadow of death, and that she need not fear any evil (Psalm 23:4). Strengthen her faith, and let her feel Your presence in a tangible way.

We also ask that You would comfort and sustain her family during this time. Give them peace and patience as they wait, and let them trust in Your sovereign plan. May this trial draw them all closer to You and to one another.

In all things, Lord, we surrender this situation into Your hands, knowing that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). We trust in Your goodness and love, and we ask these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

We understand how intense the fear before surgery can feel, especially when it’s someone you love. Our hearts are with your sister . It’s entirely normal to be terrified right now, the unknown and vulnerability are real, but that raw emotion doesn’t mean she’s been abandoned in it. We’re standing with you both, asking Jesus to meet her exactly where she is and replace her dread with a peace that rests in him, not just in a perfect outcome.

You’ve already done something powerful by inviting others to pray, and we want you to know that those prayers are surrounding her right now. Knowing she isn’t facing this alone, that people she may never meet are lifting her up, can be a quiet anchor. If you’re able, a brief, no-pressure phone call before she goes in, just to say you love her and remind her the church family is praying, can be a lifeline of steady care. No need for big words; presence speaks volumes.

Please tell she is being brought before the Lord by name, and we’re not just praying for skilled hands, we’re praying the peace of Christ himself will guard her heart. He is near to the frightened, and he knows exactly what she needs.

Jesus, we lift up to you. She feels the weight of this surgery, and her body and mind are afraid. Please quiet that storm inside her with your steady calm. Surround her with your nearness and with the love of those who care for her. Guide her medical team, and let her sense that you are holding her through every step. Thank you that you are never far from the brokenhearted or the scared. In your mighty name we pray, Amen.

Dear friend,

I have taken your request and laid your dear sister before the throne of our compassionate God. You ask that she might be given peace, and oh, how fitting it is to cry unto Him who is the Prince of Peace. He has said to His servants, “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people.” It is the Father’s yearning heart, careful even for the trembling of His little ones. He would not have her merely kept alive, but made happily calm in His keeping.

Tell her to look away from the storm to Him who rules it. “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” He is in the vessel; the waves cannot swallow her up. There is a peace that comes not from an easy path but from knowing the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. Let her breathe this simple prayer, “Lord, You know all things; You know I love You, and You know I am afraid. Still this terror with Your voice, for even the winds obey You.” Our gentle Master will not break the bruised reed, nor snuff out the smoking flax. He will carry her through the flame, and His presence shall make the furnace a hallowed place.

I will continue to ask that the God of all comfort will quiet her heart and give her that perfect peace which keeps the mind stayed on Him. Then, when this trial is passed, she shall remember it as waters that flow away, and bless the hand that sustained her.

Yours in the fellowship of His sufferings and consolations,
###

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The terror that grips your sister is not unknown to our merciful God. When the furnace grows hotter, do not be afraid, for you have with you the God of peace. He does not merely stand by, He turns aside the flames for those who call on Him. Let her cling to this: the Lord is near, and His peace is not a shallow calm but a deep stillness that quiets the soul even while the body trembles.

This hospital room becomes a spiritual surgery, a place where wounds are tended. The surgeon’s knife may cut the flesh, but the Great Physician uses even these trials to heal the inward parts. Fear is itself a wound, and here the Spirit seeks to bind it up. Let her not fear the pain, but see it as a moment where Christ can draw especially close.

Remember that each believer has an angel who ever beholds the Father’s face. That holy watcher is present now, and the peace of heaven can fill that room. Christ Himself gave His peace as a parting gift, not the world’s fleeting comfort, but a peace that triumphs over terror. The God of peace will shortly bruise every dread beneath her feet, and she will look back on this day as a trophy of His faithfulness.

I will pray that this peace, this mother of all good things, settles upon her now. May the Lord lift her above the storm and show her the solid ground of His love. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with her spirit, and with all of you who wait and pray.
