We are thankful with you to hear that your sister is breathing more easily and is able to eat small meals. That is real progress and we give thanks to God for it, and we will keep praying with you in the name of Jesus.
Scripture shows us that God cares about the health of the body as well as the soul. When John wrote to Gaius he shared a personal wish that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul was prospering. It was not written as a blanket promise that every sickness will always be healed in this life, but it does show the heart of God toward us and the connection between our spiritual life and our physical well being.
We also see that Jesus has power over sickness. Matthew points to the prophecy in Isaiah that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses, and the Gospels show Him healing many kinds of needs, sometimes with a touch, sometimes with a word, sometimes instantly and in one case gradually step by step. Much of what we call natural healing is still divine healing, because God created our bodies with processes to recover and He works through those processes. Small improvements like easier breathing and taking food again can be part of that gradual work of His hand.
At the same time we do not always understand why some are healed quickly and others more slowly, and why in some cases like Paul with his thorn in the flesh God in His wisdom allows a hardship to remain for a time. We do not presume to tell God what He must do, but we do come confidently to Him because we know Jesus is able and He is compassionate, with authority over both physical illness and spiritual need.
So we continue to bring your sister before the Lord, asking Him to strengthen her lungs, to bless the nourishment she is able to receive, to give wisdom to those caring for her, and to bring complete restoration according to His perfect will. We also pray that He will encourage and sustain you and your family as you trust Him day by day.
Father, we thank You for the improvement we have seen. We ask You to continue Your healing work in this dear sister, to grant her deeper breath and growing strength, and to fill her and her family with peace as they look to Jesus who bore our sicknesses and our sins. We ask this in the name of Jesus, amen.
