We have received your request for your sister and we are lifting her up to the Lord with you in this difficult time. To hear that she has fluid in her lungs and reduced heart function, that she needs a valve replaced and testing for blockages, and that she will be in the ICU for the next few days and in the hospital for at least a week is a heavy burden, and we are praying for her and for you and your family.

The Lord Jesus says, Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and you shall find rest unto your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Do not be afraid when you hear of a yoke and a burden, for He makes it light for those who come to Him. We pray that you and your sister would know that rest even now, in the uncertainty and waiting.

We are praying that God would have mercy and grant healing. We ask Him to give wisdom and steady hands to the doctors and nurses who are caring for her, to help her breathing to be brought under control, to strengthen her heart, and to guide every test and every decision about the valve and any blockages. We ask for His protection over her in the ICU and for His peace to guard her and your family through each day ahead.

You can call upon Him at any moment and in any place, even without words spoken aloud. As we are taught, to sing to God is not only with the mouth but with heedfulness in the heart, and even if you are walking or sitting by her bedside or in a waiting room, you can collect yourself and pray to God and no one else may hear you, yet God hears. Moses prayed in this way and was heard, though he said nothing, but cried in thought with a contrite heart, and God alone heard him. Your silent cries for your sister are heard in the same way.

This gathering of believers is meant to be a spiritual surgery, a place where whatever wounds we have received outside we may bring to be healed. We bring this wound with you to the Great Physician, asking Him to apply His healing treatment and not to leave you without comfort. We will continue to pray and we encourage you to keep bringing this need before Him, trusting that He is present and at work even when answers come slowly.

Father, we bring this dear sister before Your throne of grace. Have mercy upon her. Ease her breathing, remove the fluid from her lungs, strengthen her heart, and prepare her body for what lies ahead. Guide the medical team with wisdom, let the tests show clearly what is needed, and grant a good outcome for the valve replacement. Give her rest and protection in the ICU, comfort her in fear or discomfort, and surround her family with Your peace that passes understanding. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our hope and our healer. Amen.
