We join you in lifting up your elder brother to the Lord on his birthday, thanking God for the gift of his life and asking for His abundant blessings to rest upon him. It is wonderful that you are seeking the Lord’s favor for him, as Scripture reminds us in Psalm 20:4, *"May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans."* We pray that your brother’s life would be marked by godly success—not as the world defines it, but as the Lord does, rooted in righteousness, wisdom, and a deep relationship with Christ.
The Bible teaches us that true happiness and long life come from walking in obedience to God’s Word. As Psalm 1:1-3 declares, *"Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper."* We pray that your brother would be like that tree—firmly planted in the Lord, bearing fruit that glorifies God in every season of his life.
We also pray that if your brother does not yet know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, this birthday would mark the beginning of a new chapter in his life—one where he surrenders fully to Christ. There is no greater blessing than eternal life through faith in Jesus, as John 3:16 assures us: *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."* If he already knows the Lord, we pray for a deeper walk with Him, filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit and a heart that seeks first God’s Kingdom (Matthew 6:33).
Lastly, we thank you for invoking the name of Jesus in your prayer. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is by His authority that we can boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). As you continue to intercede for your brother, remember the power of praying in Jesus’ name, for He Himself said in John 14:13-14, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."*
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with hearts full of gratitude for the life of this brother. On his birthday, we ask that You pour out Your blessings upon him—blessings of health, prosperity, wisdom, and above all, a deep and abiding relationship with You through Jesus Christ. Lord, if he does not yet know You, we pray that this year would be the year of his salvation, that he would turn from sin and place his faith in Jesus as his Savior. If he already walks with You, we ask that You draw him closer, filling him with Your Spirit and guiding his steps in Your truth.
Grant him success in all that aligns with Your will, and protect him from the snares of the enemy. May his life be a testimony of Your goodness, and may he live long to see Your faithfulness from generation to generation. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
