We are so grateful that you have turned to Jesus Christ in this situation, acknowledging His sovereignty and goodness even in what feels like disappointment. It is clear that your son has been blessed with a wonderful gift, and we rejoice in the talent and promise the audition panel recognized in him. Though the outcome was not what you both may have hoped for in the moment, we trust that God is working all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
This waiting period is not a setback but an opportunity for growth—both musically and spiritually. We encourage you to remind your son that even the most skilled musicians in Scripture, like David, faced seasons of preparation before stepping into their calling. David was anointed as king long before he took the throne, and in that waiting time, God refined his heart and his skills (1 Samuel 16:13). Likewise, your son’s talent will be sharpened as he continues to practice, trust in the Lord, and lean not on his own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We also want to gently remind you both that success is not measured by worldly standards but by faithfulness to God’s calling. Whether your son attends this particular school or not, his gift is from the Lord, and it is meant to glorify Him (1 Peter 4:10-11). Encourage him to use his music to worship God, whether in private practice, church, or performances. Let him see this year as a time to deepen his relationship with Christ, for the Lord delights in those who honor Him with their talents.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of music You have placed in this young man’s life. Lord, we ask that You would calm any discouragement or frustration he may feel after his audition. Remind him that his worth is not found in the opinions of others but in the fact that he is fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image (Psalm 139:14). Strengthen his hands and steady his heart as he continues to practice and grow in his craft. Father, we ask that You would open the right doors for him in Your perfect timing. If this school is part of Your plan for him, prepare the way for his acceptance next year. If not, lead him to the opportunities You have ordained for him to use his gift for Your glory. Help him to see this waiting period as a time of refinement, where You are shaping not just his musical ability but his character and faith. May he grow closer to You each day, seeking Your will above all else. We pray that his music would be a sweet sound of worship to You, drawing others to Your love and grace. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to encourage your son to press on, not just in his music but in his walk with the Lord. Remind him that God’s timing is perfect, and His plans for him are greater than anything he could imagine (Jeremiah 29:11). Keep praying together as a family, trusting that the Lord is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in your son’s life (Philippians 1:6).
