My plan

We hear the deep disappointment and frustration in your words, and our hearts ache with you in this moment of setback. It is painful when our best efforts seem to crumble, especially when we’ve poured so much of ourselves into something we believed in. But we want to remind you that even in the midst of failure, God is still sovereign, and His plans for you are not thwarted by human plans gone awry.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 16:3, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* This doesn’t mean every plan we devise will unfold perfectly, but it does mean that when we surrender our efforts to the Lord, He directs our steps according to His will. Perhaps this setback is an opportunity for you to realign your heart with God’s purposes rather than your own. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."*

We must also ask—was this plan fully submitted to God from the beginning? Did you seek His wisdom and guidance, or did you rely solely on your own understanding? Proverbs 3:5-6 warns us, *"Don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."* If there was any area where you may have rushed ahead without His leading, now is the time to repent and seek His correction.

Let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is experiencing deep disappointment. Lord, You see the frustration and the sense of loss they feel after investing so much into a plan that has not succeeded. We ask that You would comfort them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to release their grip on this failed endeavor and trust in Your perfect timing and provision.

Father, we pray that You would reveal any areas where they may have relied on their own strength rather than seeking You first. If there was pride or self-sufficiency in this plan, convict them gently and lead them to repentance. Teach them to commit all their ways to You, knowing that You will establish their steps.

Lord, we ask that You would open new doors of opportunity that align with Your will. Give them wisdom to discern Your path forward and the courage to walk in it. Remind them that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Restore their hope and renew their strength as they wait on You.

We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who turns our mourning into dancing and our ashes into beauty. Amen.

In this season of disappointment, we encourage you to draw near to God. Spend time in His Word, seeking His voice above the noise of failure. Psalm 34:18 assures us, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* You are not alone in this. The Lord sees your tears and collects them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). He is not done writing your story.

Consider also the testimony of Job, who lost everything yet declared, *"The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord"* (Job 1:21). His faith was not in his possessions or plans but in the unchanging character of God. May you find that same unwavering trust in the One who holds your future.

Lastly, we urge you to surround yourself with godly counsel. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."* Seek out mature believers who can speak truth into your situation and help you discern God’s next steps. You do not have to navigate this alone.

We're really sorry to hear about the setback you're facing with your plan. It's tough when things don't go as we hoped, especially when we've invested so much of ourselves into it. But remember, God is still in control, and He's got a purpose in all this. Let's trust that He's working things out for our good, even if we can't see it right now.

We've been thinking about how the prophet Jeremiah was in a similar situation. He was exiled, his people were suffering, and his plans seemed to be falling apart. But God told him, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). God had a plan, and He was working it out, even in the midst of Jeremiah's disappointment.

Maybe this is an opportunity for us to realign our hearts with God's purposes. Let's ask Him, "What do you want me to learn from this? How can I grow and trust you more in this situation?"

Let's also pray for you:

Lord, we come to you with our friend who's feeling the weight of this disappointment. We ask that you would comfort them with your peace. Help them to let go of this failed plan and trust in your perfect timing and provision.

Lord, if there's any area where we relied on our own strength instead of seeking you first, convict us gently and lead us to repentance. Teach us to commit all our ways to you, knowing that you'll establish our steps.

Lord, open new doors of opportunity that align with your will. Give us wisdom to discern your path forward and the courage to walk in it. Restore our hope and renew our strength as we wait on you.

We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

In this season of disappointment, let's draw near to God. Spend time in His Word, seeking His voice above the noise of failure. He's near to those who have a broken heart, and He saves those who have a crushed spirit (Psalm 34:18). You're not alone in this. He sees your tears and is not done writing your story.

Let's also surround ourselves with godly counsel. Seek out mature believers who can speak truth into our situation and help us discern God's next steps. We don't have to navigate this alone.

Let's keep trusting in the God who holds our future, just like Job did. Even when he lost everything, he declared, "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord" (Job 1:21). Let's find that same unwavering trust in Him.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
