We are truly saddened to hear that your old friend is leaving God, but we are encouraged that you care enough to intercede for him. Remember, God does not want anyone to perish, but all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). Even when we stray, God is always ready to welcome us back, just like the father welcomed the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32, WEB).
Let's pray together:
"Father, we lift up our dear brother who has strayed from You. Lord, You know his heart and his struggles. We ask that Your Holy Spirit convict him and draw him back to You. Give him a renewed sense of Your love and faithfulness. Help him to remember the goodness of God and the joy of salvation. Surround him with Your love and give him the strength to turn away from whatever is causing him to stray.
We also pray for our friend who submitted this request, that You would give them peace and guidance on how to reach out to their old friend. Help them to be a light that guides him back to You.
We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who alone can save and redeem. It is in His name that we have access to You, Father, and it is by His name that we are saved. Amen."
Be encouraged by the words of Jesus: "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20, WEB).
Remember, it is not our efforts that will bring your friend back, but the power of God working through us. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep shining the light of Christ. If there is an opportunity for you to reach out to him, do so with love and gentleness (1 Peter 3:15, WEB). Rebuke him of his error if there is a chance you can speak to him.
