Praise be to God who has heard your prayer and turned your night into morning. We rejoice with you to hear that He who says weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning, has indeed come into your boat and given you songs in the night.
You speak well of Simon who toiled all night and took nothing, frustrated and hopeless, till Jesus stepped into his boat and at His word the net was filled. So it is with every soul that labors in its own strength. The night is a season of terror and alarm to many, yet even night has its songs when the Lord draws near and whispers to His child. Then the eyes glisten in the night season and the heart can say, Tis Paradise if Thou art here.
Your testimony that you have invited Jesus into your boat and have found joy is a true cause for thanksgiving. Remember that this joy is not a fleeting gladness of circumstance, which may be bare tomorrow, but joy in the Lord which is the fruit of trust in God. He that has joy in the Lord has a reason for his joy which he can consider upon his bed in the night watches. Light is sown for the righteous, and the Lord will turn their night into day.
Hold fast then to that word upon which you have acted, but at Thy word I will. Prayer is the grand thing for us who have no might of ourselves, and one night spent in prayer may raise a soul from poverty to the standing of a prince with God. Continue instant in prayer, and seek no joy which is not joy in the Lord. Drink waters from your own fountain, for all your fresh springs are in Him. His power can keep you, His faithfulness cannot fail you, His immutability secures you, therefore you are not consumed.
We thank God for your resolve that you will not return to what caused your night seasons to appear. Keep that purpose, not in your own strength, but by the blood that bought you and the Spirit that quickened you. Learn to ring the bells of His praise all day long and all night long too, and be earnest to tell others of the glad tidings that have been so precious to you, that they also may find Him who can speak joy in the night and harvest joy in the morning.
May the Lord restore unto you daily the joy of His salvation and keep you walking in that joy until the morning without clouds shall break.
