We are deeply concerned for your mother’s well-being and share in your distress over this situation. It is clear that her health and safety are at risk, and we join you in lifting her up before the Lord with urgency. The Bible tells us in James 5:14-15, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will raise him up."* We believe in the power of prayer, and we trust that God hears our cries for your mother’s protection and healing.
First and foremost, we must address the responsibility of care for your mother. Scripture is clear about honoring our parents, as Exodus 20:12 commands, *"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you."* Your brother’s actions—leaving her alone while she is ill and in the early stages of Alzheimer’s—fall short of the love and honor she deserves. Proverbs 24:11-12 reminds us, *"Rescue those who are being led away to death! Hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter! If you say, 'Behold, we didn’t know this;' doesn’t he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn’t he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work?"* We rebuke the neglect in this situation and pray that your brother’s heart would be convicted to fulfill his duty with compassion and urgency.
We also lift you up in your own illness, asking the Lord to strengthen and restore you. Psalm 34:18-19 assures us, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all."* You are not alone in this burden, and we pray that God would grant you peace and the ability to advocate for your mother even from afar.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious mother who is sick and vulnerable. Lord, we ask for Your healing hand to rest upon her, that her fever would break and her strength would be renewed. Protect her from harm, especially in her moments of confusion, and surround her with Your angels. Father, we also pray for her son—that You would soften his heart and open his eyes to the urgency of this situation. Convict him of his responsibility to care for his mother with love and diligence, as You have commanded. Give him wisdom to make decisions that honor You and prioritize her well-being. Lord, we ask for Your comfort and strength for her daughter, who is also unwell and burdened by this situation. Heal her body and grant her peace as she trusts in You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Healer. Amen.
In the meantime, we strongly encourage you to reach out to other family members, trusted friends, or even local church members who may be able to check on your mother in person. If her condition worsens, do not hesitate to contact emergency services or a neighbor who can assist. Your mother’s safety must come first, and we pray that God will provide the help she needs in this critical time.
