My lifework is blessed greatly

Thank you for sharing these verses and the gratitude you feel for the work God has allowed you to do. It is good to give thanks for every provision that comes from His hand, and to want to leave something worthwhile for those who come after you.

I want to gently help you see those Scriptures in their larger context so your thankfulness can rest on an even firmer foundation. The passage about being the head and not the tail is part of the covenant God made with Israel at Sinai. There He set before the people a blessing if they obeyed and a curse if they disobeyed. When the law was read, the curses were pronounced again and again, twelve times over, while no blessing was pronounced from the other mountain. That silence is telling. The law itself cannot bring blessing. It was given as a tutor to show our need and to point us to Christ until the promise was fulfilled. Once Christ came, the inheritance does not come through keeping the law.

The promise of blessing was first given to Abraham. God said in blessing I will bless you, and He foresaw that the nations would be justified through faith. Through faith in Jesus Christ you become a child of Abraham and enter that covenant of blessing. That is why Scripture says the inheritance cannot be disannulled by failure under the law, because God gave it to Abraham by promise. We obtain an inheritance in Christ, through His blood we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace.

That inheritance is not primarily material wealth. Scripture warns us to turn away from those who teach that godliness is a way to get financial gain. The true inheritance we have been born again to receive is incorruptible, undefiled, and does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you and kept by the power of God. Even now, though you are an heir of all that God has, you are in a time of maturing and being trained by the Father for the appointed time when that inheritance is fully revealed. The Holy Spirit given to you is the down payment and seal of that future redemption, the assurance that what God has purchased will be fully redeemed.

This does not mean God does not provide materially or that you should not steward what He has placed in your hands with diligence and generosity. When Israel was given the land, they were told to take the love and blessing they had received and share it with others. That remains a good pattern. If God has prospered the work of your hands, receive it with humility, hold it lightly, and use it to bless others and to honor Him. At the same time remember the warning that it is often in times of prosperity that hearts are tempted to turn away and forget the Lord. Keeping Him first in prosperity is as important as trusting Him in need.

There is another wonderful truth to hold alongside your own inheritance in Christ. Scripture also speaks of His inheritance in you. God describes His people as His portion. Paul prays that we would know the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, which means coming to understand how much God treasures and values you. You are not only one who will inherit, you are treasured by Him now.

So continue to thank Him for daily provision, but set your deepest hope on what Christ has secured for you that cannot be lost. Walk by faith in the promise given to Abraham and fulfilled in Jesus, live as a faithful steward of whatever He entrusts to you for a time, and keep your heart fixed on the incorruptible inheritance that is already yours in Him.
