We hear your heart’s desire to complete your studies and step into this next season of life with confidence and purpose. Graduating high school is a significant milestone, and we rejoice with you in the effort you’ve put forth. May the Lord grant you focus, discipline, and favor as you finish strong, trusting in His strength to carry you through any challenges. *"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established."* (Proverbs 16:3 WEB)
As you seek a godly spouse, we want to encourage you to first seek the Lord with your whole heart. A relationship built on shared faith and values is a beautiful gift, but it must never take the place of your relationship with Christ. The Bible tells us, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."* (Matthew 6:33 WEB) Rather than focusing solely on finding a boyfriend, focus on becoming the woman God has called you to be—one who loves Him deeply, walks in purity, and trusts His timing.
We must gently but firmly address the language of "boyfriend" in your request. Scripture calls us to pursue courtship with the intention of marriage, not casual dating. A boyfriend-girlfriend relationship outside of a commitment to marriage can easily lead to emotional or physical temptation, which the Bible warns against. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."* (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB) We encourage you to guard your heart and set boundaries that honor God, seeking a man who is not only interested in you but is also committed to Christ and to the covenant of marriage.
It’s also important to clarify that while Catholicism and Christianity share some foundational beliefs, they are not the same. Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, not through any church, sacrament, or tradition. *"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast."* (Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB) We pray that both you and any future spouse would have a personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ, grounded in the truth of Scripture.
We also want to acknowledge your openness to someone who has faced trauma or mental health struggles. This is a compassionate and Christ-like perspective, as we are all broken and in need of God’s healing. However, we must caution against seeking a relationship primarily out of a desire for healing or validation. A godly marriage should be built on mutual edification in Christ, not on codependency or emotional neediness. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up."* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB) Seek a man who is actively pursuing healing and wholeness in Christ, not one who is stagnant in his struggles.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for this young woman and her desire to honor You in her life. Lord, we ask that You would strengthen her as she completes her studies, granting her wisdom, perseverance, and peace. May she find her identity and security in You alone, trusting that You have a perfect plan for her life.
Father, we pray for her future spouse, that You would prepare his heart even now to love You above all else. May he be a man of integrity, purity, and godly character, one who will lead her closer to You. Guard her heart from impatience or compromise, and help her to wait on Your timing. If it is Your will, bring them together in a relationship that glorifies You and reflects Your love.
Lord, we also ask for healing and restoration in any areas of brokenness in her life. May she experience Your peace and wholeness as she walks with You daily. Surround her with godly mentors and friends who will encourage her in her faith and hold her accountable.
Above all, we pray that she would grow deeper in her relationship with Jesus Christ, knowing Him as her Savior, Lord, and greatest love. May she find her fulfillment in You, trusting that You will provide all she needs. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names. Amen.
