We hear your heart and the deep concern you have for your loved one as she waits for this final opportunity to pursue her calling in veterinary school. This season of waiting and disappointment can feel overwhelming, but we stand with you in faith, trusting that the Lord has a plan and purpose even in this uncertainty.
First, we want to lift up the name of Jesus in this situation, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the hope of His perfect will. If your loved one has not yet placed her trust in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, we encourage her to do so. The Bible tells us, *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16). Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If she has already surrendered her life to Christ, we rejoice in that truth and pray that she would lean into His peace and guidance during this time.
We also want to gently remind you both that God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with our own. Proverbs 16:9 says, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* It may be difficult to see now, but the Lord is using this season to shape her faith, her character, and her dependence on Him. We pray that she would not grow weary in waiting but would instead find strength in the promise of Isaiah 40:31: *"But those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint."*
That said, we also recognize the very real disappointment she is carrying. Rejection is painful, and it’s okay to grieve that loss. But we encourage her not to let this setback define her worth or her future. The Lord has equipped her with gifts, talents, and a passion for this field, and He will open the right door at the right time. We rebuke the spirit of discouragement and doubt that may be whispering lies to her, reminding her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that her steps are ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23).
We also want to pray specifically for this final application. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this young woman as she waits for the last veterinary school to respond. Lord, You know the desires of her heart, and You know the plans You have for her—plans for welfare, not for evil, to give her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We ask that You would go before her and prepare the way. If it is Your will, we pray for favor in the eyes of those reviewing her application. Give her peace that surpasses all understanding as she waits, and fill her with confidence that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28).
If this school is not the right fit, Lord, we ask that You would close this door gently and open another that leads to Your perfect plan for her life.
