My ### is transitioning. She is in hospice.

She is not taking her medication anymore. She is in deep sleep. Please pray for me also. It’s over a hour drive to see her. And lots of holiday traffic.

We are lifting you and your loved one up together before the throne of grace in Jesus' name during this very tender and difficult time, and our hearts ache with you as you walk through this valley.

We know how heavy it is to watch someone you love in hospice, no longer taking medication and in a deep sleep as her body is transitioning. We take comfort that the Lord is near to her even now and that He is sovereign over life and death. We are reminded that even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil, for you are with us. Your rod and your staff, they comfort us Psalm 23:4. For those who are in Christ, to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord 2 Corinthians 5:8, and Jesus said I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies John 11:25. We also cling to the promise that the God of all comfort comforts us in all our affliction 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 and that He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18.

Together we pray for her and for you. Father in heaven, we bring this precious loved one before You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask for Your mercy and Your peace to rest upon her. If it is Your will, let her transition be peaceful and free from pain or fear, and let Your presence fill her room. We pray that Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. We ask that You would surround her with Your love and that even in deep sleep her spirit would know Your nearness. We pray for Your will to be done and for her to be held securely in Your hands, for nothing can separate us from Your love in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39. We also lift up our dear friend who is carrying this burden of love and grief while facing a long drive and heavy holiday traffic. Lord, grant strength for each day, comfort in sorrow, and safe travel. We ask that You would keep his going out and coming in Psalm 121:8, protect him on the road, give wisdom about when to travel, and provide rest when he is weary. Provide the means and the opportunity to be with his loved one as You make a way, and when he cannot be there physically, let him know that You are there without ceasing and that Your love reaches across every mile.

We gently want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God, and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. This hope is what allows us to grieve but not as those without hope 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, because we know that for the believer, death is not the end but the doorway to eternal life with Him.

We encourage you to continue to lean on the Lord hour by hour, to let the hospice staff know how much she means to you, to ask if they can play Scripture or hymns softly in her room, and to share memories and prayers aloud even when she appears to be sleeping, for hearing is often the last sense to remain. Allow others to help you with meals, calls, and travel if possible, and give yourself grace as you navigate grief and holiday pressures at the same time. We are praying that the Lord will carry you through each mile and each moment and that you will feel His arms underneath you.

We are standing with you in prayer, asking God to bring peace to her, peace to you, safety on the road, and the deep assurance that whether in life or in death, we belong to the Lord.

We are holding you and your loved one in our hearts right now. Watching someone you love sleep so deeply in hospice, no longer taking medication, brings such tender and heavy days, and carrying that while facing a long drive in holiday traffic is a lot to hold.

It is understandable to feel torn between wanting to be at her bedside and needing to travel safely and care for yourself. Grief often begins before goodbye, and it can come in waves that feel confusing or exhausting. Please give yourself permission to feel whatever comes without judging it, and to lean on others around you.

One steady step that may help is to stay in close touch with the hospice team by phone for updates between visits. They can tell you how she is resting and help you plan when to go, so you are not driving worried or in the worst traffic alone. If you do go, see if a family member, friend, or someone from your church can ride with you and share the drive, and give yourself extra time and rest.

We pray for you now. Father, in Jesus' name we ask You to be near to this loved one in hospice and keep her in Your peaceful care. Be near to our friend as they travel and grieve, give them safety on the road, rest for body and heart, and the comfort of knowing they are not alone. Guide each next decision with Your wisdom and surround them with caring people in these days. Amen.

We have received your request and we are lifting you and your loved one before the Lord in this solemn hour. To watch one so dear lie in deep sleep in hospice, no longer taking medication, is a heavy burden, and to carry that sorrow while facing a long drive and heavy holiday traffic adds weariness to grief. The Lord sees your going out and your coming in, and He hears your prayer.

We pray that the God of all comfort will comfort you according to His word, for He has said, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people. When the heart is aching and desponding, He sends comfort, and He often does so by His own Word quickening the soul. As it is written, This is my comfort in my affliction, for Thy word hath quickened me. May the Spirit of God press that comfort to your bosom even now, not as a distant hope but as a present possession.

We are praying for your loved one, that the Lord in His mercy would keep her in His perfect peace. It is written, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. There is nothing like staying the mind on God when all else is failing. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers. If she belongs to Christ, she is safe in Jesus keeping, and whether waking or sleeping she is in His hands. We pray that the Lord will ordain peace for her and for you, and that His presence will fill that quiet room where she rests.

We pray also for you, that the Lord would give you strength for each journey, safety on the road, and calm in the midst of thronging duties and crowded highways. May He guard your going and your returning, and give you rest even with sorrows surging round. To do the will of Jesus and to bear your sorrow with Him, this is rest. May He establish your heart and comfort you in every good word and work, and supply grace to bear what you cannot change and faith to trust Him for what lies ahead.

We will continue to pray that you will know that perfect peace which gleams with heavenly light even in the midnight of this world of care, and that you will feel the Lord working all your works in you and ordaining peace for you. Earth's struggles shall soon cease, and Jesus calls His people to Heaven's perfect peace. May that hope sustain you hour by hour.

Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only hope of salvation, that Thou wouldst draw near to this dear one in hospice and to this loved one who watches and travels. Let Thy peace which passeth understanding keep their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Grant safe travel, quiet trust, and the comfort of Thy Word quickening the soul. Amen.

Am praying with you and for you and with others here that God may comfort you all and keep you. In his love and in his comfort and in his peace. Thank you Lord Yeshua. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
