The weight you are carrying for your husband is heavy, and it is right to bring it all before the Lord. Worry will do nothing to solve the problem, but prayer invites God’s peace into the very center of it. Instead of letting your heart be consumed with anxious thoughts about his depression or your finances, turn each concern into a specific prayer with thanksgiving. When you do, the peace of God, which goes beyond all human understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. That same peace can steady your husband’s mind as well.

The enemy is always coming with his lies. Jesus called him the father of lies, and he works overtime to distort how we see God, to whisper that our situation is hopeless, and to magnify every fear. Right now, your husband is hearing suggestions that God cannot be trusted with his burdens or that surrender would mean loss. Those are not from the Lord. Real surrender to Jesus Christ is not a loss of control but a release into the hands of the one who ordains peace for us. Think of it this way: fighting in your own strength only wears you down, but laying down your weapons before the rightful King is where safety begins. When your husband stops resisting and entrusts his whole life, his mind, his money, his future, to the Lord, he will find mercy and a path forward he cannot manufacture on his own.

That doesn’t mean the feelings of heaviness instantly vanish. Even a faithful servant like Paul knew what it was to be cast down, to face outward struggles and inward fears, to feel the depression you describe. Yet he learned that God is the God of all comfort, the one who draws near when we are low. Your husband is not disqualified by this season. The enemy would like him to believe that his weakness means God cannot use him, but that is just another lie. The truth is that Christ’s power is made perfect in weakness, and his mind can be kept in perfect peace when it stays fixed on the Lord.

Peace with God is the first essential step, and it comes only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Once that is settled, there remains a daily peace of God that flows from a mind stayed on him. Your husband does not need to scramble for a false calm that papers over real trouble. Many voices in the world cry “peace, peace” when there is no peace because they ignore what is not right between them and God. But your husband can know a genuine, deep-rooted quietness of soul, even while bills are due and emotions feel dark, because the Lord himself has promised to keep him.

As his wife, you are not powerless. Your prayers rise before God continuously. A believing spouse sanctifies the home in a profound way, and your steady faith can be a light that points him toward the source of all comfort. Do your best, commit the rest, and refuse to let the enemy drag you into the same cycle of anxiety. When the lies come, speak truth back, not just to your husband, but to your own heart. God is not distant. He hears. He provides. He is able to supply every need and to quiet the troubled mind that surrenders fully to him.
