MY HUSBAND IS CALLING A WOMAN HE DOES NOT KNOW HIS WIFE

What you are describing is deeply painful and confusing, and it is understandable that you feel hurt, alone and afraid. A sudden change like this in a husband who has lived with you daily and shared your home can feel like something more than ordinary unfaithfulness, and the added weight of a large financial settlement, isolation in an unfamiliar place, and now having basic needs like food and clothing withheld makes the burden even heavier.

God sees marriage as a covenant where two become one. It is not a feeling that appears and disappears or a word that can be reassigned to another person when it is convenient. Scripture teaches that in marriage the two become one flesh, a profound unity that God himself joins together. A man saying another woman is now his wife does not make it so before God. His words and actions are a choice to break that covenant, and that choice is sin that needs to be faced honestly, not excused or redefined.

It can feel as though this situation is incurable and that another power has taken control of him. Scripture shows that even under the old law, when a condition like leprosy was considered incurable and a person was set apart, God still made a provision for cleansing. He left room in the law itself for a miracle, so that if He chose to heal, there was a way for that person to be examined and restored. That reveals something about His character. He is not boxed in by what looks impossible to us. He is able to work even when a heart seems hardened or a situation seems completely turned around. Give Him room to work as only He can, and keep bringing your husband and this marriage before Him in prayer, asking not for the wrong relationship to be blessed, but for truth to be exposed, for deception to be broken, and for repentance to come.

True change is shown by repentance. When Jesus welcomed sinners who came to Him, the evidence that their hearts had truly turned was a changed life and a desire to make things right. Words alone are not enough. If your husband is to be restored, it will need to be seen in a turning away from this other relationship, honesty, and a willingness to take responsibility for his vows and his actions. Fear, confusion or talk of being bound does not remove his responsibility before God for the choices he is making.

There is also only one provision God has made for sin, and that is Jesus Christ. The light has come into the world through Him, and we are called to come into that light and receive forgiveness through His blood. No other way can atone for sin. That is true for you and for your husband. Your greatest need, and his, is to be right with God through Jesus. If you have not already, bring your own heart to Him, confess your need for Him, and trust Him for salvation and daily strength. Pray that your husband will do the same and come out of darkness into the light, where sin can be forgiven and a new life can begin.

God also cares about your physical needs. Under the old law He made provision for the hungry to be able to eat from what was at hand to satisfy their need. He does not overlook hunger or lack of clothing. You should not remain isolated and without help while waiting for your husband to change. Because he has blocked contact and you are without support and without resources you depend on him for, please reach out right away to a trusted pastor or mature believers near you, to family if possible, and to safe community resources that can help with food, clothing and shelter. If there is any threat to your safety, seek help immediately. Because a large settlement is involved, it is also wise to seek godly and qualified legal counsel to understand how to protect what belongs to your household and to ensure you are not left without provision. Keep records of what is happening and do not try to face this alone.

You are not forgotten. God sees you alone and hungry, He sees the covenant you entered, and He sees what is being done against it. Continue to pray for your husband, that any blindness would be lifted and that he would turn back to God and to his vows. At the same time, take practical steps to be cared for and to be surrounded by wise, faithful people who can walk with you, counsel you from Scripture, and help you make clear and safe decisions. Trust the Lord to work in ways that may not be immediately visible, and keep your hope in His grace and His power to heal what now looks broken.
