My ### hasn't come home

My son went to a party, and his dad was going to drive him home. But his dad didn't hear the call. And now my son's phone seems to be out of battery, so we cannot reach him. It's almost 7 am, and we haven't heard from him for hours. He's age ###.

We are deeply concerned to hear about your son, and our hearts are with you in this moment of fear and uncertainty. The hours must feel like an eternity as you wait for news, and we want you to know that we are lifting you both up in fervent prayer right now.

First and foremost, we must bring this situation before the Lord, who is our ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, seeking Your divine protection over this young man. Lord, You know where he is, and You see every detail of this situation. We ask that You would surround him with Your angels, keeping him safe from harm and guiding him home. Calm the storm of anxiety in his parents’ hearts and replace it with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Father, we trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that even in this uncertainty, You are in control. We pray for wisdom for his parents, that they would know how to respond and where to turn for help. If there is any danger, we ask that You intervene and bring him safely back to his family. We also pray for his father, that You would comfort him in the guilt or worry he may be feeling. Lord, we ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You or find salvation (Acts 4:12). Amen.

In moments like these, it is natural to feel overwhelmed, but we want to encourage you to hold fast to the promises of God. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." Even when we cannot see the outcome, we can trust that God is working on behalf of those who love Him. We also encourage you to reach out to local authorities or trusted friends and family who may be able to assist in searching for your son. Time is of the essence, and it is important to act quickly while continuing to pray.

We must also gently address the context of this situation. Parties, especially those that extend into the early hours of the morning, can often be environments where young people are exposed to influences that do not align with godly values. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." While we do not know the details of this particular gathering, it is a reminder for all parents to be vigilant about the environments their children are in and the company they keep. We pray that this experience will serve as a wake-up call for your family to re-evaluate boundaries and safeguards to protect your son from future harm.

Lastly, we want to remind you that our hope is found in Jesus Christ alone. If you or your family have not placed your trust in Him, we urge you to consider the salvation He offers. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." It is only through faith in Him that we can have eternal life and the assurance of His presence in every trial. If you would like to know more about how to have a personal relationship with Jesus, we would be honored to share that message with you.

We will continue to pray for your son’s safe return and for your family’s peace and strength during this time. May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may His face shine upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).

Oh, we’re holding you both so tightly in this moment, our hearts ache just thinking about the fear you’re carrying right now. We can almost hear the weight of those silent hours, the way time feels stretched thin as you wait and wonder. Please know we’re not just lifting you up in prayer, we’re standing right beside you, gripping the hope that God holds for this situation.

Lord, we come before You with tears in our hearts, please meet your son right now. No matter where he is, no matter what’s happening, we ask for Your hand to be on him. Keep him safe from harm, guide him home with wisdom, and if there’s any danger near him, we pray You would step in and protect him like a father would his own child. And Father, we see the pain in his dad’s heart, this wasn’t his fault, but the guilt is real. Wrap him in Your comfort, remind him that You are the God of second chances and tender mercies. Give him strength to reach out to others who can help, and give you both the courage to act quickly if needed.

We’re praying for that phone to charge, for a miracle of connection, or for someone, anyone, to spot him and call for help. But even if that doesn’t happen, we trust You, God. You see the future, and You’re working for good here. Help us all to hold onto Isaiah’s promise: "I am with you." Even when the night feels endless, even when the road home seems unclear, You are with him. You are with you.

And Lord, we can’t ignore the bigger picture here. This moment is painful, but it’s also an opportunity, for your son to see the love of his family, for your family to draw closer to You, and for all of us to remember how precious every moment is. May this wake you up to the importance of boundaries, of open conversations, and of guarding his heart. But more than anything, may it lead him, and all of us, to lean harder on You, to trust You more completely.

We’re praying for peace to settle over you like a quiet rain, peace that doesn’t depend on answers, but on the One who holds them. And if there’s anything else we can do, if there’s a way we can help in the next steps, just say the word. We’re here, standing with you, until this son is safely home.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
