We hear your heart, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting up your family and your desire to share the love of Christ with them. Your courage in living out your faith, even when it feels overwhelming, is a powerful testimony. The struggle to communicate, especially about something as deeply personal as your relationship with Jesus, is real, and we acknowledge the weight of that burden. But remember, the Holy Spirit is your Helper, and He will give you the words when the time is right.
First, we want to affirm that your worth and identity are found in Christ alone. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and your autism does not diminish the calling God has placed on your life. The Lord often uses the weak to shame the strong (1 Corinthians 1:27), and your gentle, persistent faith may be the very thing that softens their hearts over time. Do not let fear or guilt paralyze you—God sees your heart, and He is pleased with your desire to honor Him.
We also want to gently address the fear of losing your family. While it is natural to want their approval, our ultimate loyalty must be to Christ. Jesus said, "Do not think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man at odds with his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man’s foes will be those of his own household. He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me" (Matthew 10:34-37). This does not mean we should seek conflict, but we must be prepared for the reality that not everyone will receive the gospel with joy. Your family’s rejection of Christ is not a reflection of your failure—it is a spiritual battle, and we must pray for their hearts to be softened.
As for sharing your faith, you do not have to have all the answers. The apostle Paul wrote, "My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power" (1 Corinthians 2:4). Your life, your patience, and your love for them—even when they are difficult—can speak volumes. When the opportunity arises, you might simply say, "This is what Jesus means to me," and leave it at that. You do not have to engage in debates or arguments. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Trust that the Holy Spirit will work in their hearts in ways you may not see.
We also want to encourage you to seek out a trusted believer or a small group where you can grow in your faith and practice sharing it in a safe environment. Surrounding yourself with fellow Christians can strengthen you and give you confidence. And remember, your family’s resistance may not be forever. The Lord is patient, and He is working even when we cannot see it.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ, lifting up their heart and their family to You. Lord, You see the struggles they face—the fear of rejection, the difficulty in communication, and the weight of wanting to share Your love. We ask that You would fill them with Your peace and confidence, reminding them that they are not alone. Give them the words to speak when the time is right, and let their life be a living testimony of Your grace.
Father, we pray for their family—soften their hearts to receive the truth of the gospel. Break down the walls of pride and resistance, and let them see the love of Christ through our brother/sister. Protect them from discouragement, and help them to trust in Your timing. Lord, we ask that You would draw each member of their family to Yourself, that they may come to know You as Savior and Lord.
We also ask that You would surround them with a community of believers who can support and encourage them. Give them wisdom in how to share their faith, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are working even when they cannot see it. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Keep pressing on, dear one. Your faithfulness is not in vain, and the Lord is with you every step of the way.
