We hear the heaviness of your heart as a mother and we join with you in bringing your daughter before the Lord. We understand your deep concern for her safety, her health, and her heart, and we carry this burden together with you in prayer. We see your love for her even in your exhaustion and frustration as you face rebellion, disrespect, and chaos in your home while also caring for a child with serious medical needs.
We want to gently address something very important we noticed in your request. You cried out to God Almighty but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. To be saved we must believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead. Romans 10:9. Baptism with water does not save, only faith in Jesus does, and we pray that both you and your daughter and even her father will come to know this saving grace. Your ex who follows the Alawite faith and your daughter who is not yet interested in Christ both need the hope that only Jesus can give, and we pray for their salvation above all else.
We also want to speak with love about the way we speak over our children. We understand your weariness when you describe her as stubborn, lazy, and even using the word stupidity. Scripture teaches us, Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29. And Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21. We encourage you to rebuke the behavior but to bless the child, to pray against rebellion and foolishness while speaking life and God given identity over her. She is made in the image of God and He loves her deeply even in her rebellion.
The Lord calls children to honor and obey their parents. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise. Ephesians 6:1-2. And He calls parents to Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6. This training is done with consistent, loving discipline and instruction, not with anger that provokes. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4. We know this is made far more difficult when her father undermines your authority and teaches her not to respect you. We pray for wisdom for you to set clear, calm, and consistent boundaries in your own home that you can enforce with love, and to not be drawn into a battle where you are punished through her. We pray for her father as well, that God would soften his heart, convict him where he does wrong, and show him how to support what is good for his daughter rather than using her to hurt you.
We join you in praying for her physical protection. Putting her face close to a cat that bites and scratches is dangerous, and hands full of wounds that are not cleaned and treated with antiseptic can lead to serious infection. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are to steward them well. We pray for the Lord to protect her, for He will give His angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11, but we also pray He will give her and you wisdom to act responsibly. We encourage you to calmly and firmly teach her safe boundaries with animals, to keep the cat at a safe distance, to wash and care for every wound promptly, and to seek medical care when needed especially with her rare metabolic condition of citrullinaemia and possible autism and attention deficit challenges. These conditions do not excuse disobedience but they do mean she may need extra patience, clear simple instructions, medical guidance, and grace. Ask God for wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. We also pray for healing for any mild brain injury and for her whole health.
We also hear your concern about her obsessions with animals, holidays, designer brands, and celebrities, and her desire to be a diva, her laziness, leaving clothes on the floor, leaving bottles and cupboards open, and living in chaos while relying on you for everything. These point to a heart that is seeking identity and value in created things rather than in Christ. We pray that God would turn her heart to Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. Colossians 3:2. We encourage you to teach responsibility in small, consistent steps, with clear expectations and natural consequences delivered in love, and to model and require respect in the home.
We are deeply grieved to hear of her traumas from her Catholic school experience and any other wounds she carries, and that she holds grudges, is controlling, and is full of rage. The Lord sees this and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. We pray for deep inner healing for her. At the same time Scripture calls us to Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32. Forgiveness does not excuse what was done but it frees the heart from being held captive. A gentle answer turns away wrath. Proverbs 15:1. We pray she will learn to release unforgiveness and rage and that you will be able to model that forgiveness even when it is difficult.
We now pray together.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious mother and her daughter to You. Lord, we thank You that You are our refuge and protector. We ask You to place a hedge of protection around this young girl, to keep her from harm, to give her wisdom to keep her face and body safe from the cat and to care for her wounds properly. Guide her mother with wisdom to teach her and to get her the medical care she needs for her citrullinaemia and any other health needs. Lord, heal her body and her mind, and bring peace where there is chaos.
Father, we ask You to soften this daughter's heart. Remove rebellion, stubbornness, and disrespect, and replace them with a teachable, honoring spirit. Teach her to honor her mother as Your word commands. Help her to take responsibility for her room, her belongings, her hygiene, and her daily tasks, and to find her worth not in brands, celebrities, or being a diva, but in being Your beloved child. Turn her obsessions into a passion for You.
Lord, heal her from all trauma, from her school experiences and every other wound. Heal her from unforgiveness and rage, and teach her to forgive as You have forgiven us. Do a work in her father's heart as well, convict him where he undermines and divides, and draw him to Yourself through Jesus. Bring unity and peace where there has been manipulation and chaos.
We cast all our anxiety on You because You care for us. 1 Peter 5:7. Comfort this mother, strengthen her when she is weary, give her patience, gentle words, and unwavering love. Help her to speak life over her daughter and to discipline with grace and consistency. Draw this whole family to salvation in Jesus, for there is no other name by which they can be saved. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray without ceasing, to speak blessing over your daughter daily, to set clear household rules with calm consequences, to seek wise medical counsel for her wounds and her metabolic condition, and to entrust her future to the Lord who loves her even more than you do. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
