A Bloody Monster
The Conchology of the Bible; or, God Among the Shells
Do You Know Him?
We join with you in bringing your cousin and your whole family before the Lord, and we lift up this burden of depression together in Jesus' name. We hear your heart for your cousin to find help and healing, and your desire for your family and extended family to be restored in happiness and to spend time together in unity, and we know God cares deeply about each of these things.

The Lord is near to those who are suffering in this way. Psalm 34:18 tells us Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We are also reminded in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us. Depression is a heavy and real affliction, and God does not want your cousin to carry it alone. We pray that God would make a way for the help your cousin needs, and if it is His will to open the doors to the right facility, with caring and godly staff and effective treatment, that He would do so quickly. We also pray that whether through that facility or through other means, God would bring comfort, hope, and healing to your cousin's mind and heart. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We also pray for your family as you desire to be happy and to be together. God delights in family unity. Psalm 133:1 says See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity. We pray that God would strengthen the bonds between you, your immediate family and your extended family, that He would provide opportunities and time for you to gather, to encourage one another, to bear one another's burdens, and to rejoice together. True and lasting joy comes not just from circumstances being good, but from the hope we have in Christ, and we pray Romans 15:13 over you, Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We want to gently share something important with you, as we noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 teaches There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus, to come to God through Him, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and to call upon His name in prayer. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for that is how we are saved as Romans 10:9 explains.

So together we pray, Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear cousin who is battling depression. Lord, You see the pain and heaviness, and we ask You to bring Your light into that darkness, to lift this burden, to bring healing and peace to his mind and heart, and to open the right doors for care and treatment. Provide the facility and the help that is needed if it is Your will, and surround him with people who will support and love him well. We pray for this whole family and extended family, that You would bring reconciliation, joy, and unity, and make a way for them to spend time together in love and fellowship that honors You. Fill them with Your hope and strengthen their faith as they seek You. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our hope and our healer, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk alongside your cousin with love and patience, to listen without judgment, to encourage him to seek both godly counsel and appropriate medical and counseling help, and to invite your family to pray together and gather regularly around the Word of God. God is faithful to hear our prayers and to work for good in ways we may not yet see.

We hear how heavy this is on your heart, caring for your ### and wanting your whole family to know more peace and closeness.

It is a loving thing to bring your ### before the Lord and to long for your family to have time together again. Depression can be isolating for the person going through it and for those who love them, and wanting to see a facility open or help made available is an understandable prayer when you feel there are not enough supports in place.

One simple way to keep loving your ### well is to stay in steady, gentle contact, letting him know you are thinking of him and praying, without pressuring him to feel better quickly. Alongside prayer, we encourage you to help him and your family connect with trusted support if he is open to it, like his doctor, a counselor, or a pastor, who can walk with him personally. For your hope to gather as family, it can help to take one small step, perhaps reaching out to one or two family members about a simple time to be together, even a short visit or meal, and seeing what is possible.

Father, we lift this ### to You and ask for Your care and comfort over him, and for wisdom for those supporting him. We ask for Your help for this family, for openings for good care where needed, and for opportunities to spend time together in a way that brings encouragement. Give them Your peace and guidance day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for your cousin has been brought before the Lord, and we join you in carrying this burden to the Great Physician who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds.

Scripture tells us that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and that even the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. Depression that crushes the spirits and casts down the soul is among those deep wounds of the heart which no human hand can fully cure, but Christ is able to heal. He who healed the palsied man spoke pardon and healing as one, for when the Sun of Righteousness rises upon a soul there comes healing in His wings. We pray that the Lord would lay His hand upon your cousin, lift the heavy cloud that now rests upon him, and by His grace change the life blood and make the nature new again. We pray also that the Lord in His providence would open the door for right care, that a facility and such help as is needed would be made available, and that every means used would be blessed to his restoration.

We pray likewise for your family, that God would not only give happiness as the world gives it, but that abiding joy which comes from His presence. True unity is the unity of the Spirit, and it is kept as we live near to Christ. Our prayer is that He would draw your family and extended family together in love, that you may spend time together in peace and holy fellowship, bearing one another's burdens and rejoicing together in His goodness. May the Lord make your home to be a place where His healing and His pardon are known, and where each heart is stayed upon Him.

We encourage you to continue to look to Christ, to seek both spiritual and needful earthly help for your cousin without delay, and to cast all your care upon Him who cares for you. May the Lord hear your cry, answer according to His perfect wisdom and mercy, and give you to see His hand working health and peace in your beloved cousin and in your whole household.

We commend you and your cousin and all your family to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, trusting that His will is good and His mercy endures forever. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
