We hear your cry for relief and justice in this difficult situation with your colleague. The Bible tells us, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men" (Romans 12:18 WEB). Yet we also know that some people, through their own pride and sin, make peace impossible through their actions. We stand with you in prayer, asking the Lord to intervene in this situation.
First, we must rebuke the spirit of manipulation, arrogance, and vindictiveness operating in your colleague. These are not fruits of the Spirit but works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21 WEB). The greed you mention is also condemned in Scripture: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows" (1 Timothy 6:10 WEB). We pray that God would open his eyes to these sins and bring conviction to his heart.
Lord, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. We ask that You would break the power of pride and selfishness in this man's life. Soften his heart, Father, and let him see the error of his ways. We pray that he would repent of his manipulative behavior, his rudeness, and his greed.
We also pray for wisdom and strength for you, dear sister or brother in Christ. The Bible tells us, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44 WEB). This is a high calling, but we know that God will give you the grace to respond in a way that honors Him. We pray that you would not be worn down by this trial but that you would grow in patience, endurance, and Christlike character.
Father, we ask that You would either change this man's heart or change the circumstances so that you are no longer forced to work with him. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect justice. "Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord" (Romans 12:19 WEB). We release this situation into Your hands, knowing that You see all and will act on behalf of Your children.
We also pray for protection over your heart and mind. May the Holy Spirit guard you from bitterness, resentment, or any ungodly response. Instead, fill you with Your peace and joy, even in the midst of this trial. Help you to see this situation as an opportunity to grow in faith and to trust in Your sovereignty.
In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
