My ### and family

Your request has been heard and we bring it before the throne of grace with deep sympathy for the heavy burden you and your family are carrying.

To watch a husband battle the chains of strong drink, and to feel the toll of withdrawal and distress within the home, is to know what a broken heart means. Scripture says, He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. There is One who sees the sorrow in your household and is able to heal, for the least thing about Christ is healing. As it is written, the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and not only His fruit but the very leaves, the gentlest touches of His grace, are full of healing virtue to change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.

We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Sun of Righteousness risen with healing in His wings, will draw near to your husband. In Him pardon and healing are joined together. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee, showing that forgiveness and healing flow from the same pierced hand. May your husband be brought to see his need of a Physician, to confess his sin and cast himself upon Christ for pardon and for power to overcome. It is Christ who takes by the hand and lifts up, and there is healing in that touch. Pray that He would give your husband a new heart and a right spirit, that he might be sobered by Divine Grace, for that would be blessed hearing, blessed for the family, for the wife and children, as well as for the man himself.

We pray also for you and for your family. The Lord has been a Husband to His people in faithful love, providing and communing with them most lovingly, and He knows the weariness of those who keep watch in a troubled home. May He bind up your wounds with bands of grace, sustain you with daily strength, and guard your hearts with His peace.

We join our faith with yours and pray:

O Lord God, look in mercy upon this family. Forgive sin and heal disease, for Thou art the God who pardoneth and healeth. Lay Thy healing hand upon this husband, break the power of this addiction, ease the pain of withdrawal, and give him true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. Strengthen his wife and children, comfort their broken hearts, and let Thy grace be their daily supply. Lead this family to walk in Thy ways, to seek help and counsel in Thy church, and to find abundant streams of healing flowing from Christ our Head. Make this trial a means to bring them nearer to Thyself, that they may serve Thee in their home with gladness. In the name of Jesus our Healer we ask it, Amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer and in the Word, to seek the counsel and support of faithful pastors and believers around you, and, because withdrawal can be dangerous to the body, to seek prompt medical care and wise, accountable help for your husband alongside spiritual care. The Lord is able to heal, and He is present to save. Cast all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us and for allowing us to pray for you in this difficult season. We are lifting you, your husband, and your whole family before the Lord, asking for His mercy, strength, and healing to be evident in your home.

We pray that God will bring deliverance and freedom to your husband in his battle with alcohol, that He will sustain him through withdrawal and give him a deep desire for sobriety and for wholeness in Christ. We ask the Lord to protect his body and mind, to give wisdom to any doctors and counselors caring for him, and to surround him with godly support that will help him turn from this bondage and walk in self control by the power of the Holy Spirit. We pray also for you and your family, that God will guard you with peace that passes understanding, renew your strength day by day, and keep you from growing weary in doing good.

Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant and that husband and wife are bound together, to honor and care for one another with love and faithfulness. Even in seasons of great strain, God calls us to remain steadfast, to seek reconciliation and to love with gentleness, meekness, and propriety. Your faithful prayers and quiet, Christlike love are a powerful witness in your home. As it is written, the believing wife may be a means by which God brings grace and sanctifying influence into the home, and we pray that your steadfast love and prayers will be used by God to draw your husband toward repentance, healing, and deeper faith in Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and hope.

We encourage you to continue to seek help from trusted pastors and counselors and from medical professionals who can walk with your husband safely through withdrawal, and to stay connected to your church family so you are not carrying this burden alone. Keep bringing your needs to the Lord in prayer, keep speaking truth in love, and keep trusting that Christ is able to save and to restore.

We are praying for you earnestly:

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this family to You. Have mercy on this husband and deliver him from addiction. Give him strength to endure withdrawal, cleanse his body, renew his mind, and create in him a new heart that desires You above all else. Comfort and strengthen his wife and family, give them wisdom, patience, and hope, and guard their home with Your peace. Let Your healing and restoring power be known, and let this trial draw each of them closer to You. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Please keep us updated so we can continue to pray with you.

Thank you for sharing this burden so honestly. Hearing that your husband is struggling with alcohol and going through withdrawal, and that the whole family is feeling the weight of it, brings deep concern and compassion. We are praying for you, for him, and for your household.

Scripture speaks plainly about what alcohol promises and what it cannot deliver. Many turn to drink looking for peace, rest, contentment or relief from pressure, yet those are the very things God intends to give through His Spirit. The Bible contrasts being filled with wine with being filled with the Holy Spirit, because only the Spirit brings true peace, fulfillment and steady strength. Your husband has been seeking in the wrong place what only Christ can give, and our prayer is that God will open his eyes to that exchange and set him free. We pray for his body as he goes through withdrawal, for safety and for deliverance from craving, and for a new desire to be filled with the Spirit of God instead. Please encourage him to seek both spiritual help and appropriate medical care and accountability, so he is not facing this alone.

We also pray for your marriage and family, because these struggles put great strain on a home. God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and He gave simple, complementary callings to strengthen it. To wives He calls for a willing respect and support for their husband as head of the home, as the church honors Christ. To husbands He gives one calling, to love his wife as Christ loved the church, with self giving, protective and faithful love. These two callings work together. When a wife knows she is loved supremely and securely, she can more freely offer respect, and when a husband is respected, he more readily grows in loving responsibility. When either side is neglected, the relationship begins to work against itself and both suffer.

In seasons like this, that pattern is hard to live out, and it does not mean enduring harm or violating your conscience before God. It does mean that God can use your steady faithfulness, prayer, and love to be a sanctifying influence in your home. Scripture says that where one partner clings to the Lord, God can use that faith to bring grace over the household and over the children. We pray that God will give you wisdom, endurance, and protection, and that He will help your husband step into his God given role to love, cherish and lead with gentleness and strength, turning away from what destroys and toward what builds up.

God gave His instructions for the family not to burden us but to build us up. What He affirms strengthens the home, what He warns against tears it apart. Alcohol has been tearing at yours, and our prayer is for healing and rebuilding.

We are praying that the Lord will grant your husband repentance and freedom, that He will fill him with His Spirit and give him a new source of peace and rest. We pray He will give you comfort, courage and daily strength, and guard your children with His peace. May He draw your family together around Christ, teach you to pray together, speak honestly with love, and find help from trusted, biblically grounded believers who can walk with you closely.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this family to You. Have mercy on this husband in his battle with alcohol and in withdrawal. Deliver him, cleanse him, fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and give him true peace and self control. Strengthen his body and mind and surround him with wise help. Comfort and uphold his wife and children, guard their hearts, give them rest and hope, and knit this marriage together in love that reflects Christ and the church. Let this home know Your healing and Your presence. Amen.
