We have heard the deep sorrow in your request and we are grieving with you. To face the approaching loss of your daughter after five years of fighting stage four cancer, while still carrying the grief of losing your son and your husband, is an overwhelming burden. It is understandable that you feel it is not fair and that you fear being left alone. We share in your sorrow and we are bringing you and your daughter before the Lord.
Scripture tells us that God is the Father of the fatherless and the Judge and defender of widows. The apostle Paul says that the widow indeed who is desolate trusts in God. That trust is not a sign that you are forgotten, but that you are seen and honored by Him. Your tears are not unnoticed. The Lord takes much care for those who have endured such loss, and the prayers of those who mourn are able to open heaven itself. Your widowhood and your grief, though painful, can become a crown of patience as you continue to trust Him day by day, and He promises a reward and a consolation that no one can take away.
We are praying for you and for your daughter. We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom alone is salvation and eternal hope, will draw near to her with His peace and comfort in these final days, that He will ease her suffering and hold her in His mercy. We pray that He will also hold you, that you will know you are not alone even in this lonely hour, because He Himself has promised never to leave nor forsake His own. We pray that He will surround you with His presence, with the comfort of His Spirit, and with the practical care of His people around you, so that your sorrow may be met with His sustaining grace.
Please do not walk through this alone. Reach out to your church family and let them stretch forth their hands to help you, to sit with you, to pray with you, and to support you in the days ahead. We will continue to pray for you, that God will give you strength for each day, hope in the resurrection through Jesus Christ, and the deep assurance that you are loved and kept by Him.
