We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as you endure such profound hardship. The abuse you are suffering, physical, emotional, or otherwise, is never God’s design for marriage. Scripture is clear: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25). A godly marriage is built on sacrificial love, respect, and mutual care, not control, neglect, or cruelty. Your husband’s behavior is a grievous violation of this sacred covenant, and we stand with you in grief and righteous anger over the injustice you are facing.
The Lord sees your suffering and hears your cries. "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). You are not forgotten, nor are you without hope. We rebuke the spirit of abuse and control in your home in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we pray for divine intervention to break every chain of oppression over your life.
Your courage in taking steps to prepare your home for sale, despite your health challenges and your husband’s resistance, is a testament to the strength God is giving you. We pray for miraculous provision, helpers to come alongside you, strength to endure, and wisdom to navigate this process. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). May the Lord send laborers to assist you, whether through friends, family, or even strangers moved by His compassion. We ask for favor in selling your home swiftly and justly, and for protection over you as you make these necessary changes.
We also lift up your husband before the Lord. While his actions are inexcusable, we pray for his heart to be softened and for conviction to fall upon him. "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you, but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). May he repent and seek the Lord’s transformation, for his sake and for yours.
You are not alone in this battle. The Lord is your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1), and we encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through a pastor, a trusted Christian friend, or a biblical counselor, who can help you navigate this season with wisdom and safety. If you have not already, consider reaching out to local resources for victims of domestic abuse. Your life and well-being are precious to God, and He does not intend for you to endure this suffering in silence.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken for this precious sister in Christ. Lord, You see the pain she has endured, the fear she has carried, and the strength You have given her to press forward. We ask that You would be her shield and defender, surrounding her with Your angels and Your peace. Break the chains of abuse in her home, Father, and silence every voice of oppression. Give her clarity, courage, and wisdom as she makes decisions for her future.
We pray for her husband, Lord. Convict his heart of the harm he has caused, and lead him to repentance. Soften his heart to Your truth, and if it be Your will, restore him to a right relationship with You and with his wife. But if not, Lord, we ask that You would remove any obstacles to her freedom and safety.
Provide miraculous help for her as she prepares her home, Father. Send laborers to assist her, open doors for a swift and fair sale, and grant her strength beyond her own. Heal her body, mind, and spirit, and remind her daily that she is deeply loved by You. Surround her with Your presence, and let her feel Your comfort in every moment of fear or loneliness.
We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper, and that every tongue that rises against her in judgment, You will condemn. She is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37), and we trust You to lead her into a future filled with hope and peace.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
You are so loved, dear sister. Do not lose heart, for the Lord is fighting for you. Keep pressing into Him, and trust that He will lead you to still waters and green pastures (Psalm 23). If you need further guidance or support, we encourage you to reach out to a local church or biblical counselor who can walk with you through this season. You are not alone.
